Kingdom Come: Deliverance - Tips for the perfect start

While other genre representatives want to offer the most bombastic gaming experience possible, Kingdom Come: Deliverance primarily wants to deliver the most realistic experience possible. No dragons, no spells and especially no mutated man with white hair. (Yes, Geralt of Riva, we mean you)

While Kingdom Come: Deliverance still remains first and foremost a role-playing game, you can still notice the realism in many places - for example, in the combat system, when brewing potions, and even when picking locks.

Accordingly, the first hours in the role-playing game are not that easy to master. This article tells you how to get started in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

1. Saving in Kingdom Come: Deliverance

The role-playing game does not offer a free saving system in this sense. So you can't just leave the game and continue later at the same place. The title offers you three options for saving: Savior Booze, Auto Save (temporary only), and Bath or Sleep. There's even a mod for the option to always save in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

2. Combat in Kingdom Come: Deliverance

The combat system of the role-playing game is varied, but also quick to learn. We'll tell you how to master all the subtleties in our combat system guide. At the beginning, one thing is important: Avoid fights as much as possible.

Hero Heinrich can't withstand much at the beginning and can't really handle any weapon very well. However, if it comes to a fight, always keep moving and try to combine a heavy attack with a fast one. This way you'll be able to crack almost every enemy in the prologue of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

3. When do I need to sleep and eat?

Especially in the beginning, you don't have to worry about eating, drinking and sleeping. Kingdom Come: Deliverance introduces you to all mechanics gently. Basically, keep an eye on the indicators next to your life and stamina meter at all times.

You can find out exactly what the symbols there mean in the character window. If Heinrich is hungry, throw in some food. Always make sure that the meal is not spoiled - if you keep mushrooms in your inventory for too long, they will go bad.

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you'll usually find a pot of soup in front of castles and in towns. If you don't have any food or money, you can get a meal there for free.

4. Stealing & sneaking in Kingdom Come: Deliverance

If you don't have money, you can sell goods. But where do you get them? The answer is easy in games - you just collect everything that is lying around in the world. Kingdom Come: Deliverance, however, doesn't make it that easy for you.

For example, if you sneak around, the inhabitants will become suspicious. If you enter private houses in this way, the owners will sometimes even take up a weapon. The same applies to a drawn weapon. You can't walk around with a sword in your hand and think that nobody cares.

If you want to steal, then act inconspicuously. Sneak and steal only when no one can see you. By the way, you can't just sell the stolen goods, you have to go to a fence - like the miller.

In addition, guards in towns like to check your inventory if something has been stolen. In this case, the stolen goods should not be in your pockets, otherwise you will be in trouble in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

5. Learn & improve skills

If you want to improve your hero in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you do it in a similar way as in Skyrim. You want to be a better fighter? Then you need to swing your sword. You want to know more about herbs? Then gather herbs and turnips.

You will only improve Heinrich if you use the desired skill and thus improve it through training. Because you can later solve many conflicts peacefully with conversations, you should really talk and text every character.

If that's not enough, you can also upgrade your skills for money at trainers scattered all over the world later in the game. Books also hide knowledge that enhances skills. Use all these possibilities to develop your character in the desired direction. Our overview reveals which talents Kingdom Come: Deliverance offers.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance was recently released on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 platforms.
