Pokémon Ultrasonne & Ultramond Top 4: Elite Trainer & Champ Solution

Pokémon Ultrasonne & Ultramond do a few things differently than their predecessor editions and swap, for example, arenas for trials in the island walk or large contiguous areas for small tropical islands. Nevertheless, towards the end of the game you can expect the so-called Top Four, which you already know from other spin-offs.

If you want to learn more about the Ultra Gates and Cosmog or catching legendary Pokémon before taking on this challenge, you've come to the right place.

Attention, this solution contains spoilers about Pokémon Ultrasonne & Ultramond!

What is the top four?

As the number already suggests, this is a group of strong trainers consisting of four representatives. They are the last big challenge that Ultrasonne & Ultramond present you with, and battles against them are only possible once you have fully completed the island walk in Alola.

In Sun & Moon and Ultrasonne & Ultramond, the institution of the Pokémon League is not created until the actual gameplay. It consists of these four elite trainers and a champ. This role is temporarily taken by Professor Kukui in Ultrasonne & Ultramond.

The order in which you fight these battles in Pokémon Ultrasonne & Ultramond is up to you. However, you must always defeat all four members of the top four in order to succeed in this challenge.

Pokémon Ultrasonne & Ultramond: Top 4 tips for you

Defeat the Top Four

Below is not only a list of Pokémon teams for each member of the top four in Ultrasonne & Ultramond, but we also explore the weaknesses of each trainer. The following footage comes from the PokéWiki website.

In any case, before battling the Top Four, equip yourself with items like Ether, Top Recovery, Revive, Top Potion, and Hyper Healer to regenerate your Pokémon between battles.

Marlon

In the top four of the Alola region, you'll first and foremost reunite with the ex-captain of Ula-Ula. Marlon relies primarily on steel Pokémon. His team consists of Clavion, Caesurio, Digdri, Magnezone and Metagross.

Make sure that your team includes Fire, Battle, or Ground type Pocket Monsters. They will make sure that you make short work of them.

Mayla

Once again, you'll be up against a trainer that you already beat in Ultrasonne & Ultramond. Mayla is the Island Queen of Akala and, as before, relies on Rock Pokémon. In the battle against her in the top four, she sends Armaldo, Wielie, Brockoloss, Voluminas and Wolwerock (Moon Evolution) into the race.

Strategic advantages offer you here Pokémon of the following types: Soil, Battle, Plant, and Water. However, if you choose the latter option, beware of the Wielie. It combines the types rock and plant and can therefore be dangerous.

Lola

Another familiar face: Lola is captain on Ula-Ula with specialization in Spirit Pokémon. In the top four of Ultrasonne & Ultramond, she competes with the following team: Banette, Drifzepeli, Moruda, Frosdedje, and Colossand.

Meaning for your team choice, you'll have to go for guys like Fairy, Unlight, and Fire to successfully get through this battle. As you can see below, Lola's team doesn't only have pure spirit types.

Kahili

She is a trainer you have not yet met in Pokémon Ultrasonne & Ultramond. Kahili has already successfully completed Alola's island walk and relies primarily on the flight type in her top four team. In detail it consists of Washakwil, Resladero, Choreogel, Grypheldis as well as Tukanon.

To flatten Kahili, your team is again recommended to choose Ice, Electric or Rock Pokémon.

Defeat Champ

Once you've defeated all the enemies listed above, things get serious again, as your buddy Tali enters the battlefield to compete with you.

Once you've defeated him and the top four, he becomes one of the ten champ challengers. Along with Chrys, Gladio, Fran, Hapu'u, Jack, Ryuki, and Fabian, Tali will randomly appear after you triumph over the top four once again.

Tali deploys the following team: Raichu (Alola Form; Type: Electro/Psycho), Tauros (Normal), Krawell (Battle/Ice), UHaFnir (Flight/Dragon) as well as Flamara (Fire). The last of his Pokémon depends on which starter you chose at the beginning of Ultrasonne & Ultramond. He then always chooses the remaining Pocket Monster that has a weakness against your own. Possible options for his team are then their respective demotions: Primarene (Water/Fairy), Silvarro (Plant/Spirit), or Fuegro (Fire/Unlight).

Because Tali's team is well-mixed and doesn't commit to a specific type, you'll need to be prepared to exploit the weaknesses of multiple types.
