  • What the open-world game is about
  • Which platform it will be released on
  • Which versions will be on the shelves

Days Gone is the next PlayStation 4-exclusive title to hit the market, following Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War. As the name suggests, it's about a rather melancholic time, namely the post-apocalypse.

You slip into the skin of Deacon and explore the US state of Oregon. What you can expect in the story and what else you should know about the game, we show you in this big overview guide. We'll update the article regularly, so check back later as well.

1. Days Gone release date & platforms

Days Gone will be released exclusively for Sony's PlayStation 4 on April 26, 2019, which unfortunately means that PCand Xbox One fans will be left empty-handed. Nintendo devotees will also not be able to experience the title on the Switch.

2. Days Gone: Collector's Edition, Special Edition & other versions

Days Gone comes in a total of four different versions. You can buy the Standard Edition, the Special Edition, the Digital Deluxe, or the Collector's Edition. What you can expect in the different versions:

Standard Edition

Includes the game and, depending on the distribution platform, offers various small bonuses - such as patches and in-game content.

Special Edition

Besides the game, the Special Edition of Days Gone offers a few physical and digital bonuses:

  • Steelbook
  • Artbook
  • Original soundtrack
  • Wrench skill (ingame)
  • 3 skins for the motorcycle in the game
  • Days-gone design for the PS4

Digital Deluxe

The Digital Deluxe version is primarily similar to the normal Special Edition. The only difference is that it doesn't offer any physical additions. Instead, you get the following content in digital form for download:

  • Original soundtrack
  • Mini Artbook
  • Wrench skill (ingame)
  • 3 skins for the motorcycle in the game
  • Days Gone design for the PS4

Collector's Edition

The Collector's Edition logically offers the most additional content. Unfortunately, the thick box is currently sold out. This is what's in the version:

  • Statue of the hero
  • Steelbook
  • Six collector's pins
  • Artbook
  • Original soundtrack
  • Days Gone patch
  • Four stickers
  • Wrench skill (ingame)
  • 3 skins for the motorcycle in the game
  • Days Gone design for the PS4

3. USK rating: From how many years is Days Gone?

The game is rated for 18 and up. No wonder: After all, you'll be shooting your way through huge, human zombie hordes, and other rival characters can also look down the barrel of your weapons. Together with the open-world aspect, this marking shouldn't surprise anyone anymore.

4. DLC & Microtransactions: Can you spend money in the game?

Days Gone will most likely get DLC expansions. At least that's what the developers said in an interview with GamerBraver emerged. However, there are no details about the content yet. However, you don't have to worry about microtransactions.

5. What is Days Gone about?

In Days Gone, a pandemic has broken out over humanity and triggered the end times. Whoever is infected by the plague turns into a freaker aka zombie. The biker Deacon loses his wife in this apocalyptic environment and must henceforth fight for his life with his motorcycle.

You explore an open world in the US state of Oregon with him and his vehicle and experience a story that Days Gone presents with around six hours of cuts cenes. In total, the adventure should last around 30 hours.

6. Days Gone: How the gameplay works

Once you arrive in the world, you get to decide what to do next. You can follow the missions and thus the main story. This is because the main story is always divided into strands, each of which consists of several quests. After each of them, you can decide whether you want to continue the story or follow the call of exploration.

There are also side quests, but you won't find the typical open-world overload waiting for you. The gameplay itself is a classic third-person shooter with role-playing game touches. You drive through the world on your motorcycle, use an X-ray view to explore and gradually upgrade Deacon's abilities.

Days Gone doesn't really do anything new, but it picks up the most sensible mechanics and builds its own interpretation from them. You can find more details in our preview.

7. Days Gone: Is there a co-op mode?

Days Gone remains a pure single player experience. If you want to play the game with a friend, you will have to take turns controlling Deacon. There is no co-op mode.
