Mass Effect Legendary Edition: All romances in the third part

Shepard can also enter into romantic relationships with different characters in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. In Mass Effect 3, you have more partners at your disposal than in the two previous parts. Our guide shows you:

How are the romances structured this time?

In the first part of Mass Effect, your gender was the deciding factor for the possible romance. Mass Effect 2 offered a wealth of new male and female sidekicks for you to date. In the process, there were more options for same-sex romances.

Mass Effect 3 now lumps it all together. Twelve romances, some of which are new, but also many familiar faces from the predecessors, can be courted. Of course, the first hurdle is whether the beloved likes men, women or both.

But the next sticking point is the past between the character and your Shepard. That is, whether a romance has already taken place in a previous part.

These candidates want to get to know Shepard better

In Mass Effect 3, there is once again an abundance of potential partners for romantic hours. The species doesn't play a role anymore. Besides many familiar faces, there are also a few new characters to woo.

The following characters are ready for a romantic relationship, provided you go about it the right way:

Deepening the relationship with Miranda Lawson

The former closest associate of the unknown is also ready to deepen the relationship with your Shepard in Mass Effect 3. However, if you didn't start a romance with her in the predecessor, you won't leave the "friend zone" in the third part.

Another important aspect to continue the relationship is whether Miranda survived the suicide mission in the second part. If she didn't, you won't find her in Mass Effect 3.

Here are the things you need to keep in mind to refresh your love:

In the early stages of the game, Miranda will contact your Shepard and ask for a meeting. Always be nice during the conversation and clearly show that you want to continue the romance.
Also be nice to her in the later meetings in Normandy Bay and the Spectre room, and forgive her when you meet in the apartment.
Contact Miranda through the communication channel in London and continue to be nice to her. Then she will also appear in the credits of Mass Effect 3.

The beloved now without a mask? Tali'Zorah vas Neema

The relationship can also be continued with the quarian. If you didn't flirt with Tali in the second part, you won't get any more chances for a romance in Mass Effect 3. Instead, the masked lady will eventually turn to Garrus.

That would be a shame, because only if you continue the relationship will you get to see Tali without the mask. At some point, she tells your Shepard that she brought him a small gift in the cabin. On your next visit to the quarters, you'll see a picture on the nightstand next to your bed that shows the quarian's face.

In order for you to even get this far, here's what you need to do:

Ask her to your cabin during her first stay on the Normandy.
Ask her about their relationship and decide that you want to continue it.
In addition, be constantly nice to Tali.

Jack: From gangster queen to teacher

Jack only appears in Mass Effect 3 if you've entered into a romantic relationship with her in the second part or if you start the final part of the trilogy with the DLC "Genesis 2″. In addition, she must have survived the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2.

Jack has since left the criminal milieu and is now a teacher at Grissom Academy. While she's less impulsive now, little has changed in her tough talk.

If you had a romance with Ashley in the first part, it will be easier to conquer her heart in the third part.
If you remained faithful to Ashley in the second part and didn't have a romance with another character, nothing will stand in the way of your love happiness.
In the hospital, bring Ashley the "Poems of Alfred Tennyson" from the Sirta Terminal.
Assure her that you are still interested in the relationship.
Invite Ashley to the Normandy in the elevator.
Meet Ashley at the Presidio House in the café and tell her she is distracting you. Ashley responds with a smug comment and kisses Shepard.
Take Ashley with you on the infiltration mission to the casino. This solidifies the relationship. Also, combat drinking at the Silvercoast Bar helps the romance.
Tell her at the Citadel that you feel the relationship is developing.
Talk to Ashley again before the final battle. After an excerpt from a poem by Tennyson, the two kiss one last time.

A same-sex relationship with Steve Cortez

With Steve Cortez, your Shepard has a homosexual relationship to choose from for the first time. The pilot aboard the Normandy is suffering a lot from the death of his former lover Roberts. So it's your job to give him emotional support and help him get closure.

To start the romance you'll have to keep the following in mind:

Mention in a conversation that you are waiting for the right man.
Dance with Cortez in the Purgatory.
Afterwards, tell him that you want more than a friendship.
Before the final offensive, Cortez will be waiting in Shepard's cabin.

Continue your romance with Garrus Vakarian

Your relationship with the Turian investigator Garrus can also be continued. There is no chance that the romance will take place without the flirtation from Mass Effect 2.

In order for the love to last, you will need to follow these things:

After the events on Palaven, go to the main command post and answer Garrus' question about the relationship by saying that it is still "profitable".
Keep reaffirming the seriousness of the relationship to Shepard when Garrus is in doubt.
Kiss Garrus at the Presidio and miss your first shot at the target practice.
After the order to attack Cerberus is given, Garrus asks if Shepard wants him around. Confirm this and the two spend an intimate moment.
Depending on the ending, Garrus is the second to leave the Normandy after Joker.

The homosexual option for your female Shepard: Samantha Traynor

There is now a homosexual romance option for your female Shepard as well, and it is only for that gender.

Since the character is new to the series, it also doesn't require any previous choices from Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2.

In order for the romance to find its way, keep the following things in mind:

Talk to Samantha as much as you can.
At some point she will invite Shepard to chess. Accept this invitation.
Ask Samantha in your cabin, whether she would like to take a shower. Then go into the shower as well, thus starting the romance.
Before the attack on the Cerberus headquarters, tell Samantha that you need company. She will assist Shepard with her nightmare.
In the Extended Cut, Samantha will add Shepard's name to the plaque when the Crucible is activated. On the other hand, if you have chosen "Destruction", she will only hold the nameplate in her hand.

Through All Parts: The romance with Liara

You can also continue your romance with Liara. Depending on whether you have already dated the asari in the first part and helped her in the "Shadow Broker" DLC, you can continue the relationship already during the first conversation on board the Normandy.

In order for the flirtation to last, keep the following things in mind:

At the bar, make sure Liara meets up with her father.
Flirt with Liara after you save Urdnot Bakara.
Meet Liara at the other end of the Presidium House and, after she philosophizes about her mother, tell her that you want to continue the relationship.

Traumatized from Part 2: Kelly Chambers

Kelly Chambers is still suffering from her experiences on the collector base and will therefore not return to the Normandy.

Nevertheless, she is very happy to see Shepard again and gives you the opportunity to continue the romance - if you had one in Mass Effect 2. If this is not the case, you won't get beyond a friendship.

Here's what you need to keep in mind when romancing Kelly:

Be very nice to her from the beginning and suggest her to change her name after the Palaven mission. Otherwise, she will die at the hands of a Cerberus soldier.
At the later meeting on the Citadel, confess to Kelly that she is the one for you. This leads to an intimate moment of lovers.

Another guest from Mass Effect 1: Kaidan Alenko

Like Ashley, you'll meet Kaidan again in Mass Effect 3. What's new is that the guardian is now interested in both sexes.

If you have had a romance with Kaidan, as with Ashley, and no further dates in Mass Effect 2, there is nothing to stop you from continuing the relationship. Otherwise you will have to fight for his heart.

The following things are important for a romance in both cases:

Buy him a "TM88 - Peruvian Whiskey" from the Sirta Terminal when you visit the hospital.
Get Kaidan on board the Normandy after the assassination.
Reciprocate Kaidan's feelings when talking to him at the Presidium House of Commons.

The curious reporter: Diana Allers

During the events of Mass Effect 3, Shepard is asked to be interviewed a few times. There he meets the correspondent Diana Allers, who also starts a relationship with him, provided you do everything right. The gender of your Shepard doesn't matter.

Therefore, pay attention to the following events with Diana:

InviteDiana to your ship and don't break off an interview with her.
After the second interview, Diana will teasingly tell him to be careful because she might follow him home. Reply by saying that it would not be a problem for you.
After the interview about the Quarians and the Geth, Diana will make another flirtation attempt, but also note that she does not want to make the relationship public. Confirms to her that it will remain secret between them, leading to a kiss.
However, if Shepard is already in a relationship, there will be no flirting with Diana.
