Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice: Solution to the Shard Challenges

Towards the end of Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, you'll have to pass a total of four challenges to find a legendary sw ord. Along the way, you'll also earn a number of trophies in these challenges. We'll tell you exactly what they are in the overview of all PS4 trophies and achievements in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Solution to the Labyrinth Shard Challenge

On the right side of the tree, you will find the rune stone that will lead you to this challenge in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Focus on it. It will take you to an island where there is apparently a burial mound. The right path will lead you directly there. On the left, however, you will find a stone with information about the background story.

Senua won't enter the burial mound without the torch that is attached to its entrance. After all, it's pitch black in parts and the light of the fire plays a big role in completing the Labyrinth Shard Challenge.

First keep to the right and light the fire basket in the following room. You'll notice that you can't get any further here. So turn around on the pick and go back to the place where you first turned off. Instead of the right path you now choose the left one. Then turn right.

Don't forget to light all the fire baskets you come across. They will help you with orientation. Accordingly, in the Labyrinth Shard Challenge you must now always run into the rooms in which no firelight can be seen.

The next room in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is the unlit room to your left. Here you will find a tree symbol on the floor. This will tell you the way to solve the Labyrinth Shard Challenge. To be exact, you can deduce this pattern from it, which shows you the right path from the entrance of the mound: left - right - left- right - right - right.

If you turn this way, you will come across a locked room. Then find your way back to the room with the hole in the wall you already passed. Crawl through it, keep to the right and pass the reddish glowing door.

You have now solved the Labyrinth Shard Challenge in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Solution to the Swamp Shard Challenge

Run away from the tree on the left with your heroine, climb down and stay further to the left. This is how you will find the runestone that triggers the Swamp Shard Challenge. It will teleport you to a swampland. Your task here is to reach a certain house in this area, but of course this won't work without a bit of puzzling.

Grit your teeth and wade through the heavily moldy water towards another house. Once you have crossed it, you will notice an archway. It's similar to the ones you already know from riddles Valravn gives. Go through it, and right in front of you, a previously blocked path will magically open up. You'll then come across a destroyed bridge that you'll have to repair.

To do so, go a few steps further and discover another archway. Furthermore, an info stone can be found here. Go through this new archway, because it will open a door that was blocked before. Afterwards, go back to the very first archway, which you will now cross again. But leave the aforementioned door open. Now you've retrieved the barricade again, but if you run through the now open door back to the vicinity of the second archway, there's an intact path leading up the guard towers there.

Climb this and take Senua a bit further onto the intact bridge. If you take the right perspective from here, the previously destroyed bridge will repair itself. Climb down and cross it.

Enter the house where you saw Dillion at the very beginning of this section in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. On the right side of the main hall you'll find a stone with background information, while on the left you'll see a door full of runes. Examine it, whereupon you will find yourself in a completely different house.

From here on, quick action is required, because something is on the heels of your heroine. If it reaches her, Senua will die. At the first junction, go left and shortly after you will find a rune that resembles the letter "I". Now stay very close to the wall, Dillion's silhouette will appear a little later in the far right corner. Look for a second rune that resembles the letter "D" as well.

The last and third rune in the group looks like the letter "Y". It is located behind a high wall, under which you have to duck. Once you have found all the symbols, run to the left to the exit.

You have now solved the Swamp Shard Challenge in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Solution to the Tower Shard Challenge

Trigger the Tower Shard Challenge by seeking out the runestone located in the left corner of the game environment - near its entrance. This will take you to the base of a destroyed tower, where you'll keep to the right and lower the intact bridge. If you follow this path, you'll discover a mask that you have to look through.

This results in a kind of time travel, because the tower and its surroundings are now intact again. This also means that the other, previously destroyed bridge is now passable. Steer Senua accordingly in the direction of the tower until you come across an info stone and a sealed gate. You can't get any further here right now, so keep climbing up, where you'll need to find a rune to open another door. It resembles the letter "F".

From there, move along the other walkway in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Lower a bridge there so that the path to another mask opens up. Look through it and you'll find yourself back on the time level of the destroyed tower. It brings with it the advantage that the gates are now open. Run to the right gate, which is blocked by roots. Here, however, you'll find another mask that will send you through time again.

On this level the tower is open to you. You'll first find an info stone, and if you go to the next floor, also the solution to the rune puzzle. To spot the "F"-like symbol, turn Senua around and look towards the front door. After that, unlock the door to the front part and turn your back on the scenery by unblocking the door on the right and going through it.

Now it's back to the time level of the destroyed tower in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. The rune you just found will now open the previously blocked gate, so you can move forward and discover another info stone. Position your heroine in the door so that you have the broken stairs in your field of vision. Use her focus to rebuild them.

Head upstairs, where you'll see three more runes to find. They resemble an arrow pointing upwards and the letters "M" and "J". Climb the next set of stairs to the next higher floor. There you will lower a bridge and unlock a door above it. Behind it hides the puzzle for the "M" rune. Arrange the light beams and ropes accordingly.

Descend to the next lower floor and make use of the mask lying there by looking through it. After that you'll almost immediately come across the arrow rune. Let Senua look to the left side of the stairs and then up, there is a window there. Move the main character to the back left to uncover the arrow rune.

Afterwards, head upstairs to floor three, where you'll uncover a new info stone. You'll also discover that you need to jump in time again. So go back to the mask lying by the stairs on this floor and use it.

Thanks to this action, you'll now be able to reach the bridge on this floor via a new balcony that wasn't accessible before. Lower it and use the mask you found afterwards to travel back in time. Once there, the "J" rune will immediately jump into your eye, so to speak. But because it is upside down, run with Senua to the balcony to focus on the correct version of the symbol from there. There is one more info stone to activate now before you go down to the second floor to use the mask there to travel to the other time level.

You have now solved the Tower Shard Challenge in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

Solution to the Blindness Shard Challenge

The runestone that activates the Blindness Shard Challenge is located near the roots at the entrance of the area. Once you have examined it, Senua will find herself in complete darkness. For now, Dillion's voice serves as a guide.

Unlock your ears, make a draft to your left and move in that direction. Afterwards, a draft is again the sound you have to pay attention to. After that, the dripping of water will reach your ears, as well as a metallic sound. After that, your eyes are needed, because the firelight of a torch is your next clue. Go exactly in this direction.

In the Blindness Shard Challenge, listen for the splashing of water. First walk a bit to the right, then a bit to the left. The sound gets louder and louder until you discover a stream of water along the way. Run along it upstream and keep your ears open. An indication that you're doing everything right are human silhouettes at Senua's feet.

Next, this path narrows, so your heroine will have to crawl to move forward. A short time later you'll reach a rushing waterfall. From here on, move forward carefully and quietly so as not to attract attention. Try to get as close to the right wall as possible to avoid a mysterious creature unnoticed. Then listen again and you should be able to detect the crackling of a torch.

Again, careful movements are the key. You can't approach the walls because there are objects hanging from them. It is therefore necessary to sneak past another strange creature in this way. After that, go through the exit.

Now keep moving, because this section is full of these creatures. Study the movement patterns of the creatures so that you can reach a door with Senua unharmed. Go through it and then turn left. Afterwards, you'll have to balance over a pit.

After that, still be on guard against the strange creatures and make your way through the bodies hanging down from above. Now follow the light to the exit.

You have now solved the Blindness Shard Challenge in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and are in possession of the sword "Gramr".
