In this beginner's guide to Immortals Fenyx Rising you will learn:

  • How to quickly earn Charon coins and resources
  • How to defeat even strong enemies without any problems
  • How to make exploring easier

In the fall of 2020, publisher Ubisoft is firing on all cylinders and, after the open-world blockbusters Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, is now releasing Immortals Fenyx Rising.

In this family-friendly action game, you will take on the role of the mortal Fenyx on the Golden Isle, the home of the Greek gods Aphrodite, Ares, Athena and Hephaestus. However, they were captured by the villain Typhon and robbed of their powers.

From now on, in Immortal's Fenyx Rising, you'll set out to free the gods and thus also turn your brother from stone back into a human. Ubisoft packs the adventure, which lasts a good 30 hours, into an open world that is packed with tasks and puzzles. Therefore, we will give you some tips to make your life easier in the first hours of Immortals Fenyx Rising.

How do I get more life energy and stamina?

When Fenyx is stranded on the Golden Isle at the start of his adventure, he is weak in the chest. But there is a fairly simple way to build up your life energy and stamina - the latter is actually quite entertaining.

For life energy, look out for Ambrosia, which is a collectible scattered around the game world and resembles a large floating crystal. Once you've reached and unlocked the Hall of the Gods, you can redeem six Ambrosia for more life energy.

Stamina, on the other hand, can be increased with Zeus' lightning bolts. You'll get these as a reward in Tartaros Vaults when you redeem them. Fenyx's stamina is an essential value, because it affects how high you can climb, how long you can swim or hover with your wings, and your warrior can also run out of breath in battle.

So venture into the puzzle vaults early. Since they often consist only of puzzles, you don't need to be afraid of too powerful enemies.

Speaking of puzzles: If you can't figure out the solution, keep your eyes open. Usually, Immortals Fenyx Rising will give you a hint for the brainteaser somewhere in the environment, or a destructible pillar or something similar will block a mechanism.

How do I get Charon coins and resources quickly?

In addition to Fenyx's physical stats, keep an eye on abilities and equipment. In Immortals Fenyx Rising you'll have to collect lots of different resources to improve all the aspects of your hero.

You'll get Charon coins by completing challenges. Here, Immortals Fenyx Rising also makes full use of its resources, letting you pass time races, solve picture puzzles or recreate constellations with glowing spheres, for example.

All these puzzles are open to you from the first minute of the game, and you won't have to be afraid of them.

Your ability to lift heavy objects doesn't only help with puzzles. Also in combat, well-aimed boulders as projectiles will quickly bring down your opponents.

However, especially for the lyre-thinking tasks, you should use a Have a piece of paper and a pen ready. Immortals Fenyx Rising will give you a sequence in which the strings of the lyre have to be played.

After that, you'll go to the big lyre in the respective area and play it. Depending on how complex the sequence is and how far the path is, a note here will help immensely.

With the Charon coins you unlock new abilities in the Hall of the Gods or improve already acquired ones. Therefore, it is essential to start the challenges early or to take them with you, so that you quickly have the full repertoire of tricks at your disposal.

Challenges in the game world earn you Charon coins, which you can use to acquire new skills.

In the first case, you'll need general resources like the different colored Adamant shards or mushrooms, flowers and so on to improve your weapons, armor and so on.

The latter serve as a basis for healing, stamina and other potions. All this stuff can be found in the game world, of course, if you keep your eyes open. However, you can get larger amounts faster by accepting challenges at the large inscribed stone tablet in the Hall of the Gods.

In Immortal's Fenyx Rising, you'll complete these challenges in passing, as you rush from quest to quest or vault to vault. For example, you'll have to kill ten animals in order to collect a reward.

Tips & Tricks for the battles in Immortals Fenyx Rising

In the battles of Immortals Fenyx Rising, you'll have two standard weapons with you, the sword and the axe, which are great to combine. With these, the usual tips apply: Watch your opponents, dodge strong attacks and so on. But with a few tricks you can make your life much easier:

  • Sneaking: Similar to Assassin's Creed, you can also sneak up on enemies in Immortals Fenyx Rising to weaken them with a surprise attack. Use this with smaller groups of opponents, because then the first opponent will quickly go down. But: unlike in the aforementioned assassin series, such a sneak attack always leads to combat.

In the Hall of Gods you can exchange Charon coins for new skills

  • Rocks: Especially with larger monsters, fights can drag on because the beasts have a lot of life energy. Therefore, keep an eye out for boulders and stones, because early on you get the ability to lift them up with a spell and hurl them away. A well-placed hit with a rock will quickly decimate half of your opponent's energy.
  • Remote Arrows: Also early on, Immortals Fenyx Rising gives you the skill of shooting an arrow and controlling it in flight. Use this especially when you're still out of sight of your enemies. Immortal's Fenyx Rising slows down the gameplay while you direct the arrow. This makes aiming easier and also ensures that your opponents take some time to get to you. This way, you can take out one or sometimes two monsters with a few ranged projectiles before the actual fight starts.

New skills or rather improvements?

You can use the Charon coins mentioned above to unlock new skills in the Hall of the Gods. You can choose whether you want to acquire new combat skills at the beginning or improve character traits - of course, the combat skills can also be upgraded later on.

At the beginning of Immortals Fenyx Rising, we recommend that you keep a balance here, because the combat tricks are quite powerful and make the confrontations much easier and more spectacular than if you only lash out with sword and axe.

But: since the character trait improvements are cheaper to get in comparison, i.e. require less coins, we advise you to unlock some basic ones here as soon as possible.

For example, it is recommended that you use jumping when climbing to move faster while using less stamina, or that you learn the same effect when swimming.

This helps immensely when exploring the game world, where the stamina of Fenyx in particular represents a natural limit.

How do I find chests, vaults & co. faster?

Anyone who starts Immortal's Fenyx Rising will quickly notice that the Golden Isle is packed with challenges, chests, vaults and all the other activities. These can basically be found by simply exploring the game world.

However, if you want to make life easier, you can simply activate the exploration mode, i.e. the binoculars.

The remote arrow is a helpful tool to make your life easier in combat.

This works best when you've climbed one of the god statues, which you use to reveal your surroundings. From there you have a good overview of the island or the area around you.

Then look around until you notice that the cursor starts to glow. If you play on the console or with the controller, Immortal's Fenyx Rising gives you additional assistance with light vibrations.

When the vibration or glow is finally at its most intense, Immortals Fenyx Rising will tell you that you have to press the R2 button on the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, for example, and you'll get a new marker for a chest and such on your map.

Most of the time, there are clues in the environment to solve puzzles - in this example, the solution is even written on the wall.

Use this exploration function regularly, because even if the overview is best from one of the statues, you can activate it from anywhere. This way you'll never miss a puzzle, ambrosia or challenge again.

Adamantsplitter in the loading screen of Immortals Fenyx Rising

For those of you who take every Tartaros Vault you find, as recommended, don't sit idly by while the game loads.

Within the loading screen, Immortals Fenxy Rising allows you to control Fenyx in flight in order to collect Adamant shards that come hurtling towards you. They can be tricky to catch, and you'll usually only get two or three within a loading time, but as the saying goes, small fry make a mess.
