When do you start finding legendary Pokémon?

The ten legendary and mystical Pokémon can all be found in different locations. It's important that you complete the entire story first, as you won't encounter the extraordinary monsters before then. Once you're done with that, you can go on a quest. And be warned: some of the Pokémon truly know how to hide themselves well.

Detailed Pokémon locations in New Pokémon Snap

Celebi

Once you've played through the story, you'll encounter Celebi on Bellus' forest route. The little monster, which is also a mystical Pokémon, stays at the end of the route - both during the day and at night. But be quick with your snapshot, because Celebi is too!

Diancie

At the end of your cave tour on Daurus, you'll encounter the mystical Pokémon Diancie. If your vehicle actually wants to steer downwards, continue straight ahead on the alternate route. You need to get into the room full of crystals. There you will see two Rocara, each of which you drop with a Lumina ball. Afterwards, Diancie will approach you and you can snap a photo.

Ho-Oh

Once you reach research level 2 on the volcano track, Ho-Oh will show up. The Pokémon flies in the first area above the water behind the crystal flower and Glumanda. Sometimes you can also photograph Ho-Oh in the air at the second water spot.

Jirachi

Another mystical monster in New Pokémon Snap, Jirachi can be found in the ruins after completing the story. The cheeky Psycho Pokémon is usually found near Cottomi right at the beginning of the route. However, you will also encounter it later on the route.

Lugia

In order for you to add Lugia to your album in New Pokémon Snap, you'll first need to descend. If you take the route to the bottom of the sea on Copia, have some Lumina orbs ready. As soon as you see a Lanturn, throw him a Lumina Sphere and help him get rid of two Quabbel. He will then show you an alternate route that leads straight to the sleeping Lugia.

Manaphy

Towards the end of the New Pokémon Snap story, you'll unlock the reef at night. Only then will you encounter the mystical Pokémon Manaphy. However, the little monster is very shy. If you encounter several Lapras at the end of the route, throw them Lumina Balls, play the Poké Flute and the little creature will show up among the giants.

Mew

Once you've played through the New Pokémon Snap storyline, you can search for Mew at night in the Bellus jungle. You will come across the mystical Pokémon right at the beginning of the route. You have to turn 180 degrees and play a melody with the Pokéflute - then a pink energy ball appears. If you now throw a velvet apple at the ball, Mew will appear for a few seconds. If you don't manage to take a photo, it doesn't matter. You will encounter the ball several times during the tour. Just try again!

In New Pokémon Snap, the same rule applies: Gotta Catch ''Em All! Only in a photo.

Shaymin

This legendary Pokémon is so small that you might easily miss it. After all, there are several times and spots where you can find it. Keep an eye out for this little guy on the track in Floreo.

You don't have to play through the entire story to capture Shaymin. Once you reach research level 2 of the track, you'll encounter the mystical Pokémon at three spots during the day:

  • Spot 1: Shaymin is sleeping to the left of Bidiza Dam, near Pichu and Chimpep
  • Spot 2: It runs across the path with Pichu and Chimpep just before the flower meadow in front of you. Sometimes it also travels with Hopplo.
  • Spot 3: Near the crystal flower in the flower meadow. Throw a Lumina ball and wake up Shaymin.

At night you will find Shaymin at the beginning of the route. It looks at the sign where Hopplo is sitting.

You can also find Shaymin in the Lumina Zone. At the ledge where Meganie is curiously looking around, you'll find the little guy on the left side behind some trees. Throw several Lumina orbs nearby before Meganie appears there to make Shaymin show himself.

Suicune

It will be a real challenge for you to photograph Suicune, because it is incredibly shy and very hard to find. It will take several steps for you to get the Pokémon in front of your lens.

Step 1: Start a photo safari to the snowfields during the day. Keep photographing the Alola Sandamer you find there until it suddenly clears a secret passage.

Step 2: Finish the tour as usual, then return to the snowfields at night and follow the new route.

Step 3: As soon as Krawell walks in front of your lens, throw a Lumina ball on him. After that, he will shovel a whole lot of snow onto a Rexblisar that is near him.

Step 4: You can see that you've started a real chain reaction. You see, now a Frosdedje will appear and - like the Alola Sandamer before it - will unlock another new route. Ride through it.

Step 5: In front of you, a Rossana is now riding along on an Arktilas. Throw a Lumina ball at the Rossana.

Step 6: Suicune finally appears!

Xerneas

Even though it's at the bottom of our list due to the alphabetical order, you'll encounter this legendary Pokémon first in New Pokémon Snap. You'll find it in the Lumina zone of the ruins that are on Aurum. Thus, it is not too difficult to find and photograph.
