As in most multiplayer games, there are numerous customization options in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (). In addition to attachments and color patterns for the many weapons (read our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare weapons guide), you can also choose different characters, the so-called operators. However, these are not available from the start, but have to be unlocked by completing certain challenges or can be bought in the store.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Operator: General Info

Operators have no effect on the gameplay. They are merely skins for your character. Since even the hitboxes are exactly the same, it makes no difference which character you take. In addition, however, each operator has its own executions, which are carried out when you attack an enemy from behind in close combat.

In total, there are 33 operators in the game. They are divided between the two factions, "The Coalition" and "The Allegiance". For both factions, there is a standard skin that is unlocked from the start.

Special bonus costumes are also included in the Operator Edition of Modern Warfare. You can also buy costumes and other cosmetic items in the store for real money.

In the "Operators" section, you can also specify which faction you prefer. However, this has no influence on the game itself. By the way, each operator comes with different skins. But you don't have to work overtime to get them, because they can be selected immediately when you unlock them.

With each season, new operators also find their way into the game. Unlike the new weapons and maps, you can only get the DLC operators by buying the Battle Pass or a bundle with a skin for the respective operator.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Operator - The Coalition

The Coalition represents the West and is made up of the SAS, Warcom and Demon Dogs special forces. The default operator is a British soldier.

SAS

The Special Air Service is an anti-terrorist unit that belongs to the British Army. In the story mode, it takes the most important role.

The series legend Ghost has been a permanent member of the SAS again since Season 2. Captain Price has made his way into multiplayer with the opening of Season 4, while Gaz will be joining over the course of the next few weeks. We'll let you know when Gaz is available.

Thorne: Complete the campaign mission "Piccadilly".
Charly: Play 25 public games
Otter: Complete the spec-ops operation "Paladin in West Verdansk".
Ghost (Season 2): Purchases a bundle with a skin for Ghost.
Captain Price (Season 4): Was only available in the Battle Pass for Season 4.
Gaz: Buy the Gaz Operator bundle in the store.

Warcom

A global counter-terrorism unit made up of Australian, German, and French Fighters.

Domino: Win five firefight games.
Golem: Complete the Spec-Ops operation "Bounty Hunter in Downtown Verdansk".
Wyatt: Complete the campaign mission "Wolf's Den."

Mara (Season 1): Purchases a bundle with a skin for Mara.
Talon (Season 2): Buys a bundle with a skin for Talon.
Alex (Season 3): Purchases a bundle with a skin for Alex.
Ronin (Season 3): Buy a bundle with a skin for Ronin.

Demon Dogs

An elite unit of the U.S. Army. Their specialty is undercover operations.

D-Day: Complete the campaign mission "Hunting Party".
Alice: Complete the spec-ops operation "Omen in East Verdansk".
Raines: Achieve 500 kills with a light machine gun in multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Operator - The Pledge of Allegiance

The Loyalty League is meant to represent the East and consists of the Special Forces Speznas, Jackals, Chimera and Shadow Company. Standard operator here is a Russian soldier.

Speznas

The notorious special forces unit of the Russian army. Trained for anti-terror operations and hostage rescue.

Minotaur: Achieve 300 kills with an assault rifle in multiplayer.
Bale: Complete the campaign mission "Into the Fire".
Rodion: Complete the spec-ops operation "Just Wages in Downtown Verdansk".
Nikto (Season 1): Purchases a bundle with a skin for Nikto.

Jackals

The Jackals are a paramilitary organization whose goal is to protect the African continent from the Al-Qatala terrorist organization.

Azur: Complete the campaign mission "Old Comrades".
Grinch: Achieve 100 headshots in multiplayer.

Zane: Complete all spec ops co-op missions in Verdansk.
Mace (Season 2): Purchases a bundle with a skin for Mace.

Chimera

Chimera is a private army that mainly recruits mercenaries, gangsters and former soldiers.

Yegor: Complete the campaign mission "Proxy War".
Kruger: Executes 25 enforcers.
Syd: Eliminate five Juggernauts in any Spec-Ops co-op mission.
Iskra: Purchase the H.E. Tracer package from the store or obtain a skin for Iskra.

Shadow Company

The Shadow Company special forces made their way into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with Season 5.

Roze: Buy the Roze Operator Bundle in the store or get a skin for the operator.
Lerch: Purchase the Season 5 Battle Pass or obtain a skin for the Operator.
Velikan: Purchase the Velikan Operator Bundle in the store or obtain a skin for the Operator.

Mil-Sim - Standard Operator

Mil-Sim is the new default operator, both on the Allegiance side and the Coalition side. It was introduced with Season 3 and is automatically assigned to new players if no other operator has been unlocked yet.
