Hood: Outlaws & Legends: 6 tips & tricks for outlaws-to-be

Have you always wanted to steal from the rich and give to the poor like Robin Hood? Then Hood: Outlaws & Legends gives you the perfect opportunity to do so. The only difference is that the stealth multiplayer is a bit more brutal than the legend from Sherwood Forest. In this beginner's guide, you'll find out how to deal out some serious damage in the game:

  • What you should consider when putting together a team for multiplayer
  • Why the map is extremely important
  • Why the winds play such a big role in Hood: Outlaws & Legends

You want to go on an Achievement hunt while playing Hood: Outlaws & Legends? Then take a look at our trophy guide and learn how to get platinum - or alternatively a Gamerscore of 1,000.

Some are born Outlaws, others have to grow into the role. That's why we're giving you a little help to become a savvy outlaw and stay a dagger's length ahead of your opponents in multiplayer.

Online you can compete against another team, also consisting of four outlaws, to see who is the better crook. Will you score points with cunning stealth techniques or will you achieve victory through merciless close combat?

Become an invisible threat!

Successfully moving through the area in stealth mode is the be-all and end-all in Hood: Outlaws & Legends. This is the easiest way to take out other players or guards without drawing attention to yourself. This is something you want to avoid at all costs. If you are discovered - recognizable by the red border around your character - all enemy players will know where you are. On the other hand, the guards will make sure that the area you are in is sealed off. Your escape now becomes an almost impossible task.

Therefore, use the advantage of the group and ideally move through the area in teams of two. If one of you makes a mistake, your teammate will be able to react quickly and kill the enemy. Also, always have projectiles with you for distraction or - if you're playing Marianne - use your smoke bombs.

Tweak your team composition in Hood: Outlaws & Legends

There are four different classes to choose from:

  • Robin Hood: Very good sniper who can fire explosive arrows
  • Little John: A real swashbuckler, who doesn't shy away from a duel with his hammer
  • Marianne: An assassin with a crossbow, but her strengths lie in assassination
  • Tooke: A monk who supports the team with his healing abilities

Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, but they are unbeatable when combined. This doesn't mean that you can only play Hood: Outlaws & Legends in this 4-person constellation. It is also possible that all of you play Robin Hood. However, this would make the gameplay a lot more challenging.

Especially at the beginning we advise you to play the multiplayer with all four classes to get the most out of the active and passive abilities.

It's better not to mess with these four outlaws ...

Always keep an eye on the map

Remember: your main goal is to find the treasure chest before the opposing team. So always open the map, because theInformation that your teammates share with you will be displayed on it. See where enemy players are, where guards are roaming, where ammo boxes or other useful things are.

You'll also have a good overview of the area and find spots where you can ambush and take out enemies more easily.

On the map you will find hidden spots from which you can attack protected enemies.

Avoid the Sheriff of Nottingham

Bewareof the Sheriff of Nottingham. If he discovers you, he will make short work of you. So keep a low profile when you meet him and hide. As soon as he has passed you, you can sneak up on him, because you have to steal the key to the treasure chamber. This is the only way to get the valuable chest.

By the way, you can't kill the dark fellow. So it's best not to even try.

You should never meet the Sheriff of Nottingham in person

Do not let guards discover you

You will meet guards again and again while playing Hood: Outlaws & Legends. How well you hide from them is indicated by an icon above their head. If you are successful in stealth mode, you will see that the guards do not have an icon above their head.

However, if you make a noise and draw attention to yourself, a yellow question mark will appear above the guards' heads. This does not mean that they have discovered you. But they are now more alert and look for where the noise came from. So be sure to pay attention to what you do next!

If you see an orange exclamation mark above the guards' heads, they've spotted someone - but not you! The guards will then chase after the other player and you will be out of danger for the time being. However, if the exclamation mark has a red color, you have been unmasked! Then it is called: Take your legs in your hands and run! Or you try to escape from the predicament with a direct confrontation.

Oops, discovered!

Bringing the chest to safety

Towards the end of an online round, you'll need to get your loot to safety. You should carry it near your spawn point. By the way, this should be done by Little John and Tooke. As melee fighters, they can move faster with the chest than Robin and Marianne. Once you've arrived with the chest, you'll have to move it with the help of two winches. Again, only two of you can do this, the other two have to make sure that the cranks don't get damaged. Ideally, the two ranged fighters will do this.

Can you get the chest to safety quickly enough?
