With the launch of Apex Legends Season 3, the champions leave Kings Canyon and head to the end of the world, literally. The new World's Edge map features a new battlefield with numerous changes to look out for during combat.

Apex Legends Season 3 Map - How to find your way in World's Edge

When you go into battle in World's Edge, the new map can be very confusing at first. But after a few rounds, a structure quickly reveals itself. World's Edge is roughly divided into three major areas:

The snowy landscape

The snowy landscape is located in the northeast of the map. In the center is the epicenter with a huge tower trapped in the ice. The numerous ledges protrude from the ground and provide excellent cover for snipers, who can target enemies from the elevated position. So, when crossing this area, always take a look upwards to avoid unpleasant surprises.

The epicenter is surrounded by a huge snow area.

The snow area also includes the "Refinery" train stop to the northeast and the viewpoint on the east coast. There are excellent sight lines for snipers from here as well. Southwest of the epicenter is Capitol City. The narrow corridors of the buildings and the streets with their numerous intersections provide good cover and are the scene of many house-to-house battles. Firefights can last for minutes and are often decided by which squad runs out of ammo first. Short-range weapons like shotguns or machine guns are a good choice here. Grenades, throwing stars, and thermite burn kits are also very helpful.

The lava streams

In contrast to this are the lava streams, which cover the entire south of the map. The inhospitable area is a mixture of cooled lava rock and liquid magma flows. Be careful where you step, because the liquid rock can cause you great damage. Move across the narrow bridges and walkways that repeatedly cross the lava flows throughout the area.

The south of World's Edge is covered in lava flows

From the thermal station in the southwest to the dome and lava city in the southeast, the red magma flows dominate the map. For firefights near the lava flows, be prepared for both close combat and long range. Assault and sniper rifles are a good choice here. Also, have enough shield cells and medikits on hand to heal any lava damage.

The sulfur fields

The final area is the Sulfur Fields, which stretch from the Sky Hook in the northwest to the Geysers in the east. The area serves as a natural border between the snowy landscape in the north and the lava flows in the south of World's Edge. Aside from some rock formations, this area offers little cover. An aggressive play style and assault rifles are a good choice to traverse the area as quickly as possible.

To the northwest, the Sky Hook, Drill Site, Lava Air, and Train Depot are located close together. In this area you can get a lot of good equipment, especially at the beginning of the game. But be careful: a lot of loot also attracts a lot of players, which is why the area is fiercely contested, especially at the beginning of a match.

In the center of the map are the fuel depot and the sorting factory. The narrow canyons are extremely dangerous and an popular place for ambushes. Squads often meet here, advancing from the north and south into the center of World's Edge. Therefore, extreme vigilance is required.

The area with the poisonous yellow sulfur soil is crisscrossed by railroad tracks and is very extensive. To avoid long walks, you can use a little skill to jump on the train that crosses the sulfur fields at high speed and provides cover from enemy fire. Also watch out for the occasional geysers that shoot out of the ground. With their help, you can catapult your champion high into the air.

What's New on the Map in Season 3 - What to Watch Out For

During the battles, you will repeatedly encounter flying cargo bots. These are round loot boxes that contain particularly rare equipment and are carried through the air by drones. On the outside are glowing panels that change color and are an indicator of what rarity the item inside the bot will have. So for the most loot possible, you should shoot the box out of the sky when the panels glow golden. Aim for the small bot carrying the orb for an instant kill.

Keep an eye out for the golden doors to get extra high-value loot.

There are also three vaults hidden throughout the map that contain rare and powerful equipment. You can recognize them by the golden doors and the red lock. To open the door and get the high-value loot, you need a Vault Key, which can be recovered from flying Cargobots. The Vaults are located in the cave north of the geyser, the passage south of the train depot, and west of Lava City.

How the train works in Apex Legends Season 3

You've probably already noticed the numerous train tracks that crisscross World's Edge. In each round, a train travels along a randomly chosen route across the new map. On board are cargo containers with loot, so you can try to land directly from the dropship onto the moving cars if necessary. But beware: the train is a popular landing spot, as the boxes on board are guaranteed to contain high-quality loot.

The train is a great place to go to get good loot quickly.

The train stops at all major stops for a certain amount of time. While doing so, it activates new cargo containers at the stations. You can also stop the train manually by using the console in the cab.
