What is the Happy Home Paradise DLC about?

The first paid DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows you to go to work. You'll fly with Karlotta to another island, where you'll be hired as a new member of the vacation home agency. Your task is to design suitable vacation homes for your clients - both from the inside and the outside.

How Happy Home Paradise begins

As soon as you download the DLC and start the game, your Nook phone will ring. Tom Nook wants to talk to you and asks you to come to the airport. Once there, you will meet Tom Nook and Karlotta.

As you quickly learn, Karlotta is the owner of a vacation home agency that is still looking for capable employees. Tom Nook has of course thought of you. As soon as you express your interest, you can fly with Karlotta to her island and find out all the details about the job.

By the way, even if you have to fly to reach your workplace, Bodo will send you there for free. You don't need to buy an extra plane ticket.

Requirements for the DLC

You have downloaded the DLC, started the game and neither your Nook phone rings nor Tom Nook is waiting for you at the airport? Then you may not have met all the requirements.

First of all, make sure that you have downloaded the big 2.0 update. Also check in the Nintendo eShop whether you have redeemed the code for Happy Home Paradise correctly. If you can answer yes to both, you may not have progressed far enough in the game to play the new content. It looks like you have to upgrade your service center to the final level first.

Put together the right work clothes

Once you've agreed to work with Karlotta and accepted the job, you'll first need to put together a work outfit. Go to the second floor and stand in front of the locker in the back right corner. This is yours and you can choose from a variety of outfits. All of them are very summery, of course.

If you decide on a look, it will be saved for the time being. However, you can change it at any time if you feel like something new. But it makes it easier for you to change from free time to working time. When you arrive on the island and tell Karlotta that you're working, you'll automatically put on your work outfit - without having to go to the locker.

Let's go: The first job is waiting!

When you get back to Karlotta, the first customer enters the vacation home agency. The procedure is always the same for new prospective customers: You sit down with him or her and listen to which pieces of furniture or designs your counterpart favors. He or she will tell you three favorite pieces that absolutely have to be in the new vacation home.

Based on the taste and the theme that your customer chooses, you can already guess in which direction it goes. This will also be important for the choice of the location. While the very first house will be given to you, you will later decide for yourself on which island the accommodation will be located. But more about that later.

Go to the house with the customer

When you enter the house, you'll find an empty room with the customer - except for the three boxes with your favorite items, which you'll have to place in the interior. Unpack them and use the right arrow key on the left Joy-Con to open the furnishings menu. In this case, our customer Jasmin wants a vacation home completely in green!

Watch the customer while you decorate

You can choose from several designs for the flooring or wallpaper. If you're ever unsure of what best suits the customer's taste, just watch him! Turn the camera so that you can see the customer and test all the designs. You will get feedback from the facial expression: The happier the expression, the more appropriate your choice!

If the customer is happy, your reward beckons

When you think there is nothing more you can do, complete the setup and let the customer know. He will now look at your work in peace - and if you have done everything right, he will shower you with praise. As soon as you return to Karlotta and report on your success, you will of course be rewarded. You will receive 6,000 Poki.

Why no staris?

Because you're working on another island, you'll be rewarded with the local currency. And it's called Poki. So you can't take your hard-earned money back to your home island and spend it there. Likewise, you can't take Sternis with you to your work island.

However, the agency where you work has a small store where you can buy furnishings. You can take them back to your home island.

She wanted a book oasis, so she got one!

Don't forget: Take pictures!

When you have finished your work, you must remember to take photos. This will help you keep track of what projects you've completed, but it's also your agency's calling card. Potential clients can get an idea of what your Happy Home Paradise agency is all about.

In addition, you can use the photos to navigate between all the clients whose orders you have already completed. Pretty handy, since you should be checking in on them every now and then anyway.

How to win new customers

Of course, not all prospective customers just walk into the Happy Home Paradise vacation home agency. Means: You have to get out and recruit customers. The easiest way to do this is directly on the beach. Some visitors will sit there and briefly tell you what exactly they want from their vacation home. If you are interested in something, talk to the prospective customer and discuss further details.

You can also do customer acquisition on your home island operate. Buy souvenir chocolates at the agency and give them to your islanders. They'll be eager to visit the island where you're working. And who knows: maybe you've already landed the next fish.

Finding the perfect island

When you talk to a prospect, listen carefully to what's important to them. For example, if someone prefers a cozy spa as their vacation home, they shouldn't necessarily be accommodated on a wintry island. If someone likes it green, show him an island with many trees. So pay attention to whom you show which island, how it looks like on it and which season is prevailing at the moment.

Last but not least, keep in mind that a customer must not only be satisfied with the interior, but also with the exterior. You can design it as you please - but you should still take into account the wishes of the client. As soon as you think that you have designed the perfect vacation home, talk to the customer and let him make his judgment.
