Assassin''s Creed Valhalla: Dice Game - Örlög Legend
In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, there are several mini-games that you can spend extra game time with. One of them is called Örlög and is an entertaining dice game that you can play in different locations. You don't need the minigames for the story, but it's a different story if you're hunting for trophies. To get the achievement "Örlög Legend" and be rewarded with a bronze trophy or 20 Gamerscore, you have to defeat all Örlög players. In this guide you will learn:
- What the dice game rules are
- What you need to do to win the Örlög games
- Where to find all Örlög players on the map
Rules of the dice game in ACV
Each round of Örlög consists of three phases: the dice phase, the blessing of the gods phase and the resolution phase. The 15 small turquoise stones are a kind of life indicator. The goal of Örlög is to destroy all of your opponent's pebbles by dealing damage.
The dice phase
You take turns rolling the dice three times in a row, and after each roll you decide if you want to keep them, and if so, which ones. Your dice will receive different effects depending on which image is on top. If the die shows an axe or an arrow, you do damage with it. With a helmet you block the axe damage, with the shield the arrow damage. If a hand is shown, you can steal a token from your opponent.
If your symbol on the cube has a golden frame, you will receive a token. More about what you need it for in the following.
The God Blessing Phase
In the Blessing Phase, you can spend your tokens to use the various actions of your god figures. This can vary from additional damage to your opponent to healing your own ranks. Before each game, you can choose up to three god blessings. See the table below to find out which gods are blessed and what actions they have.
Which god blessing comes first depends on the priority number. The lowest number starts.
The Resolution Phase
Now it's time to settle the score! Each gilded frame grants one token, depending on the dice symbol, damage is dealt or blocked, or tokens are stolen from the opponent.
Tips for playing Örlög
- Once your die has a gold frame, set it aside and don't roll with it any further. Your focus should be on getting as many extra tokens as possible.
- Use Thor's strike as a blessing from the gods. The golden frames will give you additional tokens. In combination with the hand symbol, you will quickly collect tokens and can easily hit your opponent for five additional damage.
- Play with foresight and do your math while you're still in the dice phase. Pay attention to how many tokens you have left, how many you will gain, and how many you might lose.
Example of a game round
Take a look at the screenshot. It shows the distribution of the dice after the dice phase. We took turns rolling the dice three times each.
The opponent is in possession of three tokens and receives four additional tokens through the four golden-framed dice. He also steals one token from us through the hand symbol. He thus ends up owning eight tokens, but loses one more through us.
We, in turn, already have five tokens and receive four additional tokens via four golden-framed cubes. Although we lose one by stealing from our opponent, we also steal a token from him - we end the round with nine tokens.
Now it comes to the Blessing Phase and we use Thor's Strike. With nine tokens in our possession, we can spend eight of them and deal five damage to our opponent in the final phase.
In the resolution phase, we now see who does how much damage to whom. Our arrow is blocked by his shield, his two arrows are blocked by our shields. We also parry his axe with our helmet. In the end, we have one axe left and our opponent has one arrow left, which can't be blocked and thus deals one more damage each. Afterwards, our opponent takes five additional points of damage from our Blessing of the Gods. He, in turn, has a deity that heals damage. However, since the prioritization number is higher than ours, we get to go first.
