Overwatch Path to Pro: How to become a professional eSports player

With the Overwatch League, Blizzard is pursuing the ambitious goal of establishing one of the best eSports leagues in the world and bringing it to the big screen. Overwatch pros from all corners of the globe fight for fame and glory in the league. Fixed professional contracts and a steep career in eSports await them. This dream of thousands of passionate gamers can also come true for you!

With the "Path to Pro", Blizzard has created a special structure that should make it easier for every Overwatch fan to get started in eSports.

The "Path to Pro": This is how the system works

Your personal path to becoming an eSports legend begins with thousands of other players in Overwatch Ranked Mode. Fight your way up through the ranks to the top and gain enough experience to play your first games as a pro. Every Overwatch player has the option to join a team or create their own together with friends and fellow players.

In the so-called Open Division, teams from all over the world compete against each other. It's a difficult task and the competition is fierce, but with a little practice and a lot of passion, you can succeed in dominating the division.

Make your way through the various tournaments and earn your place as an Overwatch pro!

The best teams in the tournament will get the opportunity to prove their skills again in a qualifying tournament, the Contenders Trials. Teams that are successful in the Trials will then compete in the Overwatch Contenders. The Contenders are the Overwatch build-up league from which new pros are often recruited for the biggest stage of all: the Overwatch League.

Players who perform well in the Contenders can bring Overwatch League teams to their attention. Only the best of the best can prevail against tough competition. But in the end, a professional contract with a bona fide Overwatch League team beckons.

The dream of a professional eSports career

Write your own hero stories and become an eSports star with the "Path to Pro" inzum!

Currently, the Overwatch League has 20 teams competing for the title of champion in the second season. However, Blizzard plans to add more teams to the league in the coming years and offer new players from different regions of the world a chance to become an eSports pro. Even today, the league features many eSports players whose heroic stories began with Path to Pro. This includes, for example, the flex tank Mickie from Dallas Fuel.

Prove your skills and take off in ranked mode.

But it's not only in the Overwatch League that the Path to Pro provides opportunities for new up-and-coming talent: The annual Overwatch World Cup is also a great opportunity for up-and-coming players to make a name for themselves and impress the big teams.

The countries with the best players are invited to the World Cup and get the chance to put together a national team to represent their home country on the international stage.
