Fortnite

This shooter has made the Battle Royale genre accessible to the masses - not least thanks to the crossplay option, which allows anyone to play together with anyone else. In Battle Royale mode, the motto is "Last (wo)man standing". Up to 100 players compete against each other and whoever is left at the end wins the round. Everyone starts equipped with a pickaxe and has to collect weapons and items. Special events and special tasks are supposed to keep the mode varied.

Fun Fact: The actual gameplay of Fortnite was called "Save the World" and offered more tower defense against zombies than PvP skirmishes. The Battle Royale mode was added later, but it immediately became a fan favorite.
