What are Wizard Challenges?

Wizard Challenges are tricky quests that you will be given in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. You can find them in the forts that appear in various locations on the map. If you complete them (also as part of the daily tasks), great rewards await you.

The challenges consist of defeating the enemies with the most powerful spells possible. It is important not to jump into the battle unprepared, otherwise you will lose a lot of spell energy unnecessarily. You should start the battle with not less than 15 spell energy. How to get a lot of spell energy, we tell you in our guide: Tips & Tricks for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

Within 5-6 minutes, it is then your task to use the wand on your smartphone () to trace the displayed lines so that powerful forces are unleashed.

Using runestones in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

To enter a fortress, you need to use a runestone from your inventory. You'll receive them as rewards for completed missions or as bonuses for certain actions. Runestones can also be acquired through microtransactions. The type of your stone determines how hard your upcoming challenge is. If you start a level 5 challenge, you will receive rarer items. So it pays to face the dangers.

You can find your runestones in the dungeon, which is your inventory. At the top of the screen, they are assigned to the penultimate icon. Tap it to open the runestone bag and see which ones you've collected so far.

Level 1 runestones open simple challenges in fortresses, while level 5 runestones are more for experienced wizards. Each of these stones also has an epithet that opens a different challenge at the corresponding level. If you have several stones of one type, the mission can be started more often.

The type of your runestone, for example "Hogwarts" or "Dark Arts", shows you from which register you will receive Findable Items. For example, if you are missing Findable Items from the Ministry of Magic, chances are good that you will be able to get rare items from this level 5 runestone.

How to start a fortress challenge

To start a wizard challenge at a fortress, you need to get close to the fortress. The circle on the ground indicates if you are close enough. Take a few minutes to do this and make sure you are standing in a safe place.

Tap on the fortress and choose a challenge from the list that matches your level. You can't start with a big challenge right away. Complete low levels first and advance to the next higher level.

Wizards are strongest in a group. After you have chosen the right challenge, a countdown will start - during this time it is possible for another four players to join the fortress challenge. How battles work in a fortress

Battles work similarly to other encounters with magical creatures. We have told you exactly how fighting works in our guide: Fight, Block & Win in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

As a refresher, here's a quick version:

  • Superimpose and hold spell circle and attack circle
  • Quickly trace spell patterns with your finger (speed over accuracy)
  • Swipe to dodge an attack
  • If knocked out, you can simply re-enter
  • Use focus bar to unleash a profession spell from the bottom bar (extra strong)

You have defeated the Fortress Challenge once all enemies have been defeated within the time limit. If you fail, the challenge is considered failed and all items used are lost.

Important tips for the forts in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

  • The enemies in the fortresses are exceptionally strong and will quickly bring your life bar into a critical range. Before entering the challenge, visit your cauldron and take some healing potions to replenish your life bar in case of emergency.

  • Distribute your skill points before entering a fortress. The profession you choose offers some opportunities to unlock new talents and become stronger that way. This will help you successfully exit the fortress, especially in higher runestone challenges.
  • If you want to use a healing potion, it will cost you a valuable turn. If your life bar hasn't been minimized too much yet, we advise using the potions later. Once the battle is halfway over, healing won't cost you a turn and you'll still have a chance to attack.
  • Think carefully about who you want to be your teammate. For example, if you don't have enough healing potions with you, a zoologist is the optimal partner. This profession class can heal teammates, but also launch attacks.
