In Marvel's Iron Man VR, you'll slip into Iron Man's suit and take on dangerous drones galore. To make sure you always have the upper hand in the battles, we'll tell you 5 important tips & tricks.

In our Marvel's Iron Man VR trophy guide, you can also find all the requirements for the platinum trophy in the game.

The best control scheme in Iron Man VR

Use the tutorial at the beginning of the game to figure out the best controls for you. You can rotate 360 degrees in Iron Man VR. In the settings, you have the choice between "instant rotation" or "smooth rotation".

We don't recommend using the fluid rotation, though, because it's too slow and too fiddly in the heated battles, even in the fastest version, since you have to hold down the rotation buttons (square and triangle) on the PlayStation Move controllers ().

Use "Instant Rotate" instead. If the default 45 degrees is too jerky for you, set the rotation angle to 30 degrees in the options. The maximum here is 90 degrees, which makes the flight challenges almost impossible.

How do I earn more upgrade points?

Between missions, you'll always return to Stark's mansion, where you can improve your suit with all kinds of upgrades. You can earn the necessary upgrade points by completing the main missions as well as the optional flight and combat challenges. The better you do, the more points you get. A maximum of five points per mission is possible.

If you don't get all five points in a mission or challenge, it doesn't matter. All missions can be repeated at any time on the large globe in the headquarters, so you can still secure the missing points.

At the globe you choose the next mission in Iron Man VR.

Bonus points: As you progress through the game, you'll gain access to the enemy analysis in Gunsmith's mansion, where you can get information and tips on the various drones. Check there regularly, as you'll receive an additional upgrade point for each new enemy type you discover.

The best upgrades for the Iron Man suit

Each upgrade for your armor costs five points. The upgrades are divided into five categories:

  • Repulsors
  • Secondary weapons
  • Chassis
  • Energy
  • Nozzles

So that you don't waste your hard-earned upgrade points, we'll tell you the most important upgrades from four categories. Forget about the jet upgrades at the beginning. They mainly increase the flying speed, which makes the suit harder to control. Don't venture to upgrade the jets until you're ready to tackle FRIDAY's flight challenges.

Bonus tip: You can include a different secondary weapon on each hand. See the table to see which two secondary weapons we recommend.

CategoryUpgradeBenefit
RepulsorsFast RepulsorSince you often have to deal with many enemies at once and accurate aiming is difficult in the rush of battle, equip the Fast Repulsor and not the charged Repulsor.
SidearmGuided missilesThe guided missiles are indispensable. They significantly simplify the battles, as they relieve you of accurate aiming and independently find the way to the enemy.
SidearmAutocannonThe autocannon is very powerful, especially at short range, as it fires bullets in quick succession and often finishes off enemies with one volley.
ChassisReserve MunitionThis makes your powerful secondary weapons ready to fight again faster.
EnergyRepulsor CapacitorIncreases the damage of the Repulsor. Especially helpful against the heavily armored sculls.

How do I unlock new suits?

New suits in Iron Man VR don't bring any gameplay advantages, but only change the look. They can be unlocked through in-game challenges.

However, four suits are reserved exclusively for buyers of the Digital Deluxe Edition. These are the Golden Avenger, Black Centurion, Sun Stinger and Stealth armor. The following suits await you in the standard version of the game:

SuitPrerequisiteUnlock Tip
OmbreDestroy two enemies at once with repulsors - one with each hand.Pretty easy to do in one of the first missions. Just aim at two of the standard drones (Phasms) and fire.
Scarlet StormDestroy six enemies with just one shot from a secondary weapon.Since the guided missiles only target five enemies at a time, you should use the frag bomb for this by throwing it into a large group of enemies.
Enemy TakeoverDestroy 250 enemies with secondary weapons. You should receive this automatically as you progress through the game.
StealthDestroy two enemies with only one missile strike.Wait until two enemies are close together and then use the missile strike.
HornetDestroy 50 enemies in close combat.Remember to use melee again and again, then this suit will be no problem.

Iron Man VR: Tips for fighting the drones

The different drone types in Iron Man VR all have different strengths and weaknesses. Our combat tips will help you against the first four drone types in the game.

  • Phasms: The standard drones can hardly withstand anything, but their mass can make them dangerous. Use the guided missiles to quickly take out several of the Phasms. If they get too close, finish them off with a melee attack.
  • Skulls: They are heavily armored and will try to ram you again and again. During the ramming attack they are invulnerable. Dodge the ramming attack with the boost or hit them at the last moment with a melee attack to stop the Skulls' attack.
  • Grim: The mines explode near you and create a black hole that attracts and damages you. Therefore, always keep them at a distance and it is best to destroy them near other enemies, as they will also be attracted to the black hole.
  • Graverunner: These tanks are very durable and will bombard you with missiles, but you can destroy them with a single repulsor shot. Very effective against the Graverunner is the ground strike.
