Do you want to quickly become the absolute street legend of Night City? Our Street Cred guide explains how.

What you need to use mods in Cyberpunk 2077

Mods are usually software programmed by fans that changes the original files of your games. In some cases, mods can completely destroy the installation and cause serious malfunctions of your PC.

Be sure to back up your game saves before trying mods, so you can restore them in case of emergency. You can find your saves here: "%userprofile%/Saved Games/CD Projekt Red/Cyberpunk 2077". Installing and using mods is of course at your own risk!

In order to use mods, you first need utilities that provide appropriate interfaces and simplify the management of mods. We recommend the following tools, which you will also need to run most of the mods in our list.

  • Cyber Engine Tweaks - Opens the API interface of Cyberpunk 2077 for further mods, but already improves the performance itself. Download here.
  • CP77 Tools - Uses command line input to launch add-ons and is necessary to launch some mods. Download here.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Manager - Helps to install mods and lets you manage them comfortably. Download here.
  • ReShade - Is necessary to improve the graphics of Cyberpunk 2077 using community presets. Download here.

Instructions for installing this software can be found on the respective download pages.

Unlock global illumination and other settings

This mod gives you access to some hidden settings that change graphics and performance. Especially global illumination and resolution scaling are interesting here. But also other settings appear with this mod, which are hidden by default.

Alternative Character Exposure

You want more natural light, especially when it comes to lighting in photo mode? This mod disables "rim lighting", which creates a kind of bright rim around all game characters. Especially in dark environments this can look a bit unusual, but overall the gameplay looks a bit more organic.

Subtle but effective: game characters get more realistic lighting with this mod.

"True HDR" Autonomous ReShade

Don't have an HDR screen, but want more pop of color and sharpness? This preset for the ReShade mod (see above) simulates an HDR effect created by a complex concatenation of various effects.

Borderlandfy2077

Want some variety? Fans of the Borderlands games may also enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 in the popular Cell Shading look enjoy. This gives the game a certain cartoon style, while turning up the brightness a bit.

Free choice of clothing

Not all clothes have mod slots, but they often look better for it. This mod lets you choose the rarity of weapons and armor items yourself, so they get mod slots. It also allows you to remove mods without destroying them. If you don't feel like dealing with crafting, you will love this mod.

Third Person View

The first person perspective in Cyberpunk 2077 has caused discussions even before release. With this mod you can look over V's shoulder during his adventures in Night City. Different perspectives can be set and you can zoom in and out, just like in third-person games. You can even set the game to automatically switch to the first-person perspective as soon as you draw a weapon. Cyberpunk 2077 is of course not made for third person view, so you should expect bugs when using the mod.

Customize your look in the game

You can 't change your look in Cyberpunk 2077 after starting the game. Hairdressers don't exist in Night City either. No problem, this mod allows you to customize hairstyle, hair color, facial hair, eye and skin color and more directly in the game.

Modify pedestrian behavior

This mod gives you a set of settings that allow you to influence the behavior of ped estrians in the city streets. Through different modes that control when and how many NPCs spawn around you, you can create a more realistic cityscape. The mod also improves the AI behavior of enemies. Note that changes in NPC quantity can directly affect the game's framerate.

Shell travel everywhere

Forget about long walks to the nearest terminal to start a quick trip. This mod allows you to travel from anywhere to any marker or location on the map. For this mod you still need to install the Redscript compiler, which is linked in the description.

GTA Quick Travel

The default loading screen for quick travel in Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have much to offer. This mod instead recreates the iconic zoom effect from GTA 5, which occurs there when changing characters.
