Tips for the crusades

Cult of the Lamb is divided into two central game mechanics: the battles during the crusades in the dungeons and the building part of your own cult.

When you go on a crusade in the dungeons to kill the bishops, you'll always get two random weapons at the beginning: a melee weapon and a curse weapon that consumes energy. Especially with the melee weapons, you'll have to adjust your play style.

For each crusade, you'll be provided with a weapon and a curse.

While swords and daggers allow for fairly fast combos, hammers and axes are very slow to strike. With the latter, you'll have to anticipate your opponents' movements and attacks in order to hit and not get hit yourself during your own strike animation. Tip: Enemies flash briefly before they strike.

Tarot cards provide you with useful bonuses during the crusades. You get them either randomly from crates or from the tarot dealer. You can easily recognize the tarot dealer's room: there are golden stars and moons hanging from the ceiling above the entrance.

You can recognize the tarot card dealer by the stars and moons.

How do I get food for my cult?

Back at the camp, you need to take care of your cultists, because without food they will starve. To prevent this, build a farm with a total of twelve plots of land and a seed silo around it (see screenshot). As soon as you have unlocked the farm, you can place the fertilizer silo nearby.

Once your farm is up and running, all you have to do is regularly fill the fertilizer silo with fertilizer (trailer feces) and place seeds in the seed silo. If you designate a trailer as a farmer, it will automatically help itself to the silos and take care of planting berry bushes, pumpkins and the like.

The optimal farm layout for the first hours of the game.

Then check in again and again and harvest the fruits, with which you can produce meals at the cooking place. Later in the game you can unlock an upgrade in the shrine, which allows the farm workers to harvest the fruits themselves.

Tip: The berry meal will be the best food for your cult for a long time. While there is a 15% chance that a follower will immediately leave feces when consumed, this is rather positive for you, as you will need the feces for fertilizing anyway.

How do I get wood and stones?

In the beginning you will find heaps of wild growing trees and stones in your camp. However, these do not last forever and new trees grow very slowly.

Therefore, unlock the wood yard and the stone mine at the shrine as early as possible. You can send a follower to work in each of these buildings, which will then produce wood and stone for you at regular intervals.

To get resources even faster, you can build a propaganda speaker nearby, which will make all cult followers in the vicinity work 20 percent faster.

Thanks to the Propaganda Speaker, your cultists will work more efficiently.

Note: The wood yard and the stone mine won't last forever. They will break after some time and you will have to rebuild them.

Tricks for building bases in Cult of the Lamb

You have built the fertilizer silo too far away from the farm? No problem, you can move buildings that have already been built:

  • Open the building menu.
  • Click on the "Edit building" button displayed at the bottom of the screen.
  • Select the desired building and click on "Move [building name]".
  • Confirm the new location.

You can easily move buildings in Cult of the Lamb.

Do not use decorations in your village at the beginning. They are useless and will only cost you valuable resources. Later in the game, when you have some materials left over, you can start decorating your home.

It happens suddenly and unexpectedly: A cultist goes rogue and spreads his lies. To be prepared for this, build a prison as early as possible in the game. There you can lock up renegade members and re-educate them over time.

Getting devotion - this is how it works

When your followers pray at the shrine in the center of the village, they generate devotion, which you need to unlock new buildings for your cult. Make sure you send followers with the appropriate attributes to pray. Perfect for praying are residents who have the "Believer" cult trait - this makes them generate devotion 15 percent faster.

Have cultists with the Faithful trait produce devotion.

After each dungeon run, you should collect the devotion produced from the shrine. At the beginning, the shrine can store a maximum of 50 devotion.

In addition to the shrine, you can regularly visit the following locations on the world map to collect devotion:

  • Lonely Hut: To the right of thehut is an altar that regularly generates up to 15 devotion.
  • Pilgrim's Passage: There is also an altar in the lighthouse that generates up to 15 devotion.

Pay attention to the day and night change

The day and night change in Cult of the Lamb plays an important role and influences the behavior of your residents. While your followers are busy with their work during the day, they sleep at night and need a bed for that.

Day-Night Change Tips:

  • Since you can preach once every day, it's best to start your crusades in the morning after you've preached a sermon -> if you're quick, you'll make it back by the next day and won't miss a day of preaching.
  • Preach only during the day! If you disturb your followers during the night for a sermon, you will receive a malus.
  • Kill renegade members of your cult only at night, so that the other inhabitants do not notice.
  • Use the night to fish in peace at Pilgrim Passage.
  • You can meditate to make time move quickly (triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, X on Nintendo Switch).

At Pilgrim Passage, you'll find a fishing spot.
