Thecard game Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is now available for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. If you are a Gwent beginner, we recommend you read our deckbuilding guide for Gwent beginners and our tips and tricks for Gwent.

In this guide, we'll introduce you to a meta deck for Gwent that will keep you scared in ranked matches even after the latest patch (4.1).

Advanced Gwent Deckbuilding: The Professor Joker Meta

The Syndicate faction has only been present in Gwent for about three months and has already become the strongest faction in the Witcher card game. While the deck presented is overly strong, it is just as difficult to play. This is because you need to master the most common strategies in Gwent in order to best anticipate your opponent's tactics. If you're just getting started in Gwent, it's best to check out our deckbuilding guide for beginners first.

For the more adventurous, this advanced Gwent guide introduces a strong meta deck that doesn't use the popular Portal. Instead, you take the Professor into the deck, which gives you more flexibility in the game. This is because the build relies on a mix of control options, machine and takeover tactics.

Also, with this Gwent deck, you'll be able to put a lot of points on the field even in a short turn. As a result, you'll be able to counter almost any strategy of your opponents, regardless of the turn you're in. Before we go into more detail about how to best use the cards, let's take a look at the Syndicate's "Professor Joker Deck".

The best Syndicate deck: With these cards you can beat any player

As a leader, you choose the Joker, which allows you to play another card from your deck. You also have the Professor, a card in your deck that will give you twelve points at any time, provided you play it correctly. Also, the popular two-card combo of Madame Luiza and Savolle will give you 26 points without putting you at a disadvantage when you play it.

Of course, the deck can be customized to your liking. For example, Azar Javed would be great to swap out for Caleb Menge.

Game Plan: This is how you set the stage for the Syndicate deck

Especially if you want to rock the upper ranks with our advanced Gwent deck, there is no strategy you can blindly follow. The flexibility of the Gwent build makes it impossible to follow a strict plan. Nevertheless, we'll show you the most important moves and combos for the Syndicate faction and tell you what you need to keep in mind during the various rounds.

Gwent Guide: Advanced Deckbuilding - The Professor

Due to the coin mechanics of the Syndicate faction, you'll have very little opportunity to apply pressure in Round 1 without playing your most important cards. Therefore, the first thing to do is to build up your coin stock and put as few cards on the field as possible. However, especially if you start as the second player, the first round can often be won.

If you have won the first round, then you pass in round 2(dry-pass). This allows you to benefit even more from the combo: Ghastly Mutant Dog and Azar Javed in the third round. If your opponent has won the first round, you start the round in second place and have to react to his actions. Play your special cards and Azar Javed. Your overall goal in the second round is to draw as many strong cards from your opponent as possible while playing your Bronze cards.

Of course, what happens in Round 3 depends on how the game has gone so far. If everything goes well, you'll start the third round with the Madame Luiza and Savollo combo. It's best to support the duo with a strong coin dispenser like Ewald Borsodi. Also, save the leader ability until the last round.
