These card types exist.

All in all, the cards can be categorized into five different types. The position of the pirates and your starting position play an important role. The following types are available in Anno 1800:

  • Snowflake: The arrangement of the islands is symmetrical. The pirates are located in the center and are protected by four medium-sized islands. The players start on the outside.
  • Island Arc: Players start on the slightly curved eastern islands, and the pirates are in the west of the map.
  • Corner: The pirates are in the center and the players are in the corners.
  • Atoll: Again, the pirates are in the center, while the players start on the centered edges.
  • Archipelago: Here the players start in the center of the map near the large islands. The pirates are located at one of the lateral ends.

In order not to lose the overview: Save.

If you have discovered a good map, you should save it. Unfortunately, Anno 1800 does not allow you to check the map number later, so you should save it when you create a "Free Game" in the "Victory Conditions" tab. It is best to use the map number as well as the map type as file name. Example: "11723 Atoll".

If you forgot to save your settings, you can at least view the properties of your last game. To do this, select a new free game in the menu and choose "Custom" for the difficulty level. Now you can see all the information from your last game, including the map number, as default settings.
