Take your time to look around

Yes, your character Agent 47 is a highly trained killer, but a large part of your game time in Hitman 3 will be spent walking around and observing. Always get a good overview of your surroundings and the routines of the NPCs in a new level first. Above all, you should study your targets carefully to find good opportunities for the perfect kill. Pay special attention to:

  • Items that can be useful
  • Situations that can be manipulated for "inconspicuous accidents" - for example, exposed power cords, open drinks, or suspended heavy objects
  • Actions of your targets - such as prolonged stays in unprotected places

Loosely based on The Simpsons: The words "non-flammable" would be a prompt in Hitman 3!

Uses the instinct mode

In instinct mode, the game switches to a black-and-white view and shows you your targets, other NPCs as well as interactive objects nearby as clear schematics. Use this feature often so you don't miss anything!

In Instinct mode, you can see the targets as red shadows even through walls.

Remember your new camera

A new feature in Hitman 3 and an important addition to Instinct Mode: the camera phone. Agent 47 can use it to scan objects and hack electronic locks, for example. Make it a habit to regularly whip out the phone and target interesting objects - you'll often get game-changing clues that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Scan your surroundings thoroughly to find valuable clues.

Always take these important items with you

You will find items in every level that can help you with your murder plans. Many can be used as lethal or non-lethal weapons, others serve as distractions, take you to previously locked locations or unlock special assassinations. In any case, always take these items immediately when you find them:

  • Crowbar
  • Wrenches and screwdrivers
  • Fuses
  • Poisons of all kinds
  • Keys and key cards of all kinds

Indispensable and also useful as a blunt weapon: a wrench.

Chooses the right disguise

Agent 47 is a master of disguise. When you overpower NPCs, you can often take on their role and then look around without being disturbed. Usually, the more dangerous it is to get to a victim, the more effective their disguise is. If you eliminate a high-ranking guard and disguise yourself as him, you can walk around almost everywhere completely unmolested. Other disguises are easier to see through, but can be more effective depending on the situation - for example, posing as a bartender to poison a drink.

Also note that if you act suspiciously and get caught, your disguise will be blown! It's best to change your costume quickly or hide until the coast is clear again. You can blow your cover in three stages, each of which is displayed as a red bar above the minimap:

  • "Search": An NPC has seen something suspicious and is investigating the incident. However, he does not directly connect you to it yet - hide for a while and the search status disappears again.
  • "Compromised": You have been observed doing something suspicious or changing your outfit. Stay out of sight of guards and move where no one can see you.
  • "Hunt": enemies are actively hunting for Agent 47, hiding won't do any good and in fights you will almost certainly be outnumbered. Try to escape to another level area to reset your status.

Whether as a guard or as a clown: Agent 47 always cuts a good figure - and can then look around inconspicuously.

Save regularly

Progressing in Hitman 3 is often a matter of trial and error. Have you made a plan on how you want to proceed in a certain situation? Then save the game before you start implementing it! This is not only helpful if your plan fails: Sometimes the consequences of your actions are so unpredictable that you want to reload even if your moves are successful. It also doesn't hurt to save every now and then without any reason. And if everything really goes wrong, there's no shame in starting a level from scratch: with the knowledge you've gathered before, you'll progress much faster.

Story missions will help you

You have absolutely no idea how to get to your target without attracting attention? Then go on a story mission! By eavesdropping on conversations or discovering certain situations, you can unlock these mini-quests, which then show you a more linear path to the perfect kill.

At the top of the screen, the game will show you when you can discover a story mission. Press the indicated button to see details and follow it. After that, the game will give you hints on what you should do next to get to the goal. Completing story missions is also worth its weight in gold for your score and some trophies.

Stop nearby and press the appropriate button when you see the story mission hint at the top of the screen.

Play levels multiple times

Hitman games are designed to be played multiple times, and Hitman 3 is no exception. There are so many details and different approaches hidden in all the levels that you won't be able to discover or implement them all in one try. The possibilities for eliminating your targets alone are enormous, and you can only use one per run. Therefore, be sure to play levels several times - it's worth it.
