Far Cry 5: Resistance levels - How they work

Joseph Seed and his Eden's Gate cult have a firm grip on the fictional Hope County in Montana. This is where Far Cry 5 is set, the latest first-person shooter from Ubisoft, whose open world you have been able to plunge into since March 27, 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Your task is easy to outline: put a stop to the religious fanatics. But even though the premise of Far Cry 5 fits into a slim six words, that's easier said than done.

The crazy believers have a firm grip on the three regions that Hope County is divided into. Each of these regions is controlled by a Joseph Seed lieutenant. We'll explain how to take them down elsewhere.

In order to draw out the leadership and eventually Joseph himself, you'll need to build up a resistance. Here are some tips and tricks that will show you exactly how to do that.

Resistance levels of Far Cry 5 in detail

The game world of Far Cry 5 is divided into three regions: Holland Valley, Henbane River and Whitetail Mountains. To complete these, you'll need to take down the respective lieutenant in the area.

You'll lure these three members of Joseph Seed's family - John, Jacob and Faith - out of their hiding places by collecting a certain number of resistance points.

The meter for this is divided into sections. These resistance levels show you when you'll annoy the fanatics more and more, until you finally arrive at the actual target and have to face John, Jacob or Faith.

These points trigger different things in Far Cry 5. In the case of John Seed in Holland Valley, for example, the madman will send his henchmen after you. Without preparation, you might end up in captivity.

This is followed by specially staged cutscenes and impressive story missions. So always keep an eye on the resistance meter so that you can at least be a little prepared.

Aside from these story episodes, you'll also encounter increasingly stronger adversaries. On level 3, for example, the Seeds in Far Cry 5 sic the so-called Chosen on you. These are the nastiest fighters of the sect.

But at the same time, the levels have advantages. The higher the resistance level, the more members the resistance has. Thus, there are more people in the region who will support you. They will sometimes attack seed disciples or help you in firefights if they are nearby.

Resistance levels in Holland Valley

Total required resistance points: 13,000

  • Level 1: Mary May and Reverend Jerome (both located in Fall's End) join the resistance and have missions for you. Eden's Gate kidnaps citizens to make them confess their sins and collects food and animals because of the approaching end of the world.
  • Level 2: More and more people join the resistance and fight for your cause. Eden's Gate starts blocking the roads to nip the resistance in the bud.
  • Level 3: The resistance gets stronger, at the same time John Seed sends the Chosen to finish you off. They use airplanes and are therefore tough opponents.

Resistance levels in Henbane River

Total resistance points needed: 13,000

  • Level 1: The Hope County Jail is under siege by Eden's Gate. Therefore, help the mayor Virgil Minkler and his henchmen. Faith Seed, meanwhile, uses the drug "Bliss" to make people compliant or turn them into so-called "Angels".
  • Level 2: More and more people join the resistance and fight for your cause. The Bliss drug spreads and people are forced to follow "the path", making them lose more and more touch with reality.
  • Level 3: The resistance in Far Cry 5 gets stronger, at the same time Faith Seed sends the Chosen to finish you off. They use planes and are therefore tough opponents.

Resistance levels in Whitetail Mountains

Total resistance points needed: 10,000

  • Level 1: To impress the resistance in Whitetail Mountains, you'll have to fight Eden's Gate in every possible way until you gain Eli's trust. Meanwhile, the cult swears in its soldiers and turns wolves into fighting machines.
  • Level 2: More and more people join the resistance and fight for your cause. Meanwhile, the cult sends out hunters to capture citizens.
  • Level 3: The resistance gets stronger, at the same time Jacob Seed sends out the Chosen to finish you off. They use airplanes in Far Cry 5 and are therefore tough opponents.
