God of War Ragnarok on the PC: Current status

Since the PC release of God of War (2018) was a complete success, the question naturally arises whether the latest part God of War Ragnarok will also be released for PC. Since Sony's lineup of PC ports has steadily increased in recent years, a PC release isn't that unlikely. However, there has been no announcement for a PC version yet.

What does Sony have to say about a PC release of God of War Ragnarok?

Tech giant Sony has yet to comment on a PC release of God of War Ragnarok. However, there is a statement from God of War (2018) creative director Cory Barlog about the PC version. In an interview with the video game magazine Game Informer, he answered the question about the release period to a PC version of God of War Ragnarok:

"Right now we're dealing with one game at a time, looking at each game individually and determining, 'Okay, is this the best?" and assessing whether it works. Are players enjoying it? Did we get it right? Is there anything we did wrong? What can we do better in the future if we repeat it? But ultimately, the decision is up to Sony."

Unfortunately, that's very woolly wording and not a concrete answer to the question of whether there will be a PC release of Ragnarok.

When could the PC release of Ragnarok take place?

Since there is no announcement for a PC release yet, it is also difficult to make a prediction regarding the date. However, the PC port of God of War (2018) took a good 4 years to complete. So a release of God of War Ragnarok on PC could drag on until 2026. However, since Sony should have noticed by now that good PC ports are worthwhile, the PC version of God of War Ragnarok could hit the shelves sooner.

Furthermore, it seems that the development studio Jetpack Interactive, which was responsible for the PC version of God of War (2018), has been involved in the development of Ragnarok. This expertise could have gone into an early PC port. So there could be an announcement of the PC version in the near future. However, an exact date can't be set (yet).
