Pokémon Unite: Tier List - The Best Pokémon [April 2022]

In this PokémonUnite Tier List you will learn:

  • Which Pokémon are the strongest in the current patch
  • Which skill and item builds are recommended

Need a little help getting started with your first Pokémon Unite matches? We've put together a few valuable tips for you in our beginner's guide.

Meta in Pokémon Unite: Tier List

At release, Pokémon Unite already offered a selection of 20 Pokémon with different attacks and abilities. As in other MOBAs, the developers try to make the game as balanced as possible. However, in each season, some Pokémon always stand out that are a bit stronger than their counterparts. Once players discover that some Pokémon are much stronger than others, this information spreads like wildfire and quickly you'll see the same Pokémon in every match.

These trends in choosing certain Pokémon or even using certain tactics are called meta or metagame. However, the meta in MOBAs and other strategy games is by no means fixed. Due to buffs and nerfs, some characters are removed from the current meta and others take their place.

In this Tier List, we'll introduce you to the strongest Pokémon in Pokémon Unite for the current season. If you want to stay up to date on the current meta, it's best to save the Tier List to your Favorites.

Venusaur

Bisaflor (Venusaur)

Bisaflor is an attacker who can put a lot of pressure on opponents with his abilities, especially in the early stages of the game. His spells have an enormous range and you can work on your opponents from a safe distance.

However, abilities like Razor Blade and Solar Beam require a lot of practice to aim, otherwise your attacks will simply fizzle out in the air. Another weakness of Bisaflor is that it loses tremendous utility in the final stages of the game. Other attackers offer much more firepower at this stage.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Seed Bomb, Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Solar Beam, Verdant Anger
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Wise Glasses Choice Specs Combat Specs

Lucario

Lucario

Compared to other allrounders, Lucario has an enormously high mobility. Therefore he is suitable as a laner as well as a jungler. In the beginning, it's best to play Lucario passively and counter your opponents if they venture too far into your territory. Once you've gained a small level advantage, however, you can use Lucario to initiate attacks yourself or surprise enemy Pokémon in the Jungle.

  • Recommended skill buildquick Attack, Meteor Mash, Power-Up Punch, Close Combat, Aura Cannon
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Focus Band Muscle Band Weakness Policy

Pikachu

Pikachu

Pikachu is one of the strongest attackers with its high burst damage as well as its crowd control ability. Pikachu can deal a lot of damage to its opponents from a long distance and is great for 1-on-1 duels as well as chasing down fleeing opponents. However, make sure to always keep enough distance to your opponents, because in close combat, the electric mouse is very quickly knocked out of its socks.

  • Recommended skill build: Thunder Shock, Electroweb, Electro Ball, Thunderbolt, Thunderstorm
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Choice Specs, Energy Amplifier, Buddy Barrier

Fruyal

Fruyal (Tsareena)

Fruyal is an all-around Pokémon that is passionate about kicking its opponents' butts. In fact, the Pokémon's attack set consists almost entirely of kicks. Fruyal is most effective when you gank your enemies from the Jungle. Enter the fight with the Tropical Kick and then burst your opponents away with the Triple Axel and your Unite move. Then head back into the Jungle and repeat once Royalkick is available again.

  • Recommended skill build: Razor Leaf (Razor Leaf), Turbo Spin (Rapid Spin), Triple Axel (Triple Axel), Tropkick (Tropkick), Royalkick (Queen Ascendent)
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Muscle Band, Focus Band, Buddy Barrier

Hoopa

Hoopa

Hoopa is a support Pokémon that causes chaos on the battlefield with its rings. Hoopa can open portals on the map with different abilities, allowing you to quickly teleport yourself and your allies to point zones or back to base. Hoopa's Unite attack is also interesting: here the Pokémon assumes its unleashed form for a short time. When it does so, its maximum health points increase and Hoopa's abilities are changed to Dimensional Madness and Psy Ray. In addition, a ring appears at a selected location to which allied Pokémon can teleport once.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Astonish, Confusion, Hyperspace Hole, Phantom Force, Rings Unbound
  • Recommended Items: Slow Smoke, Score Shield, Focus Band, Buddy Barrier

Snorlax

Relaxo (Snorlax)

Relaxo is a defender that will make your opponents lose their teeth. The Pokémon has a lot of health points and quite high defense values. However, you won't do much damage with Relaxo, but you don't have to. Your task in the battles is to draw the attacks of the opponents to you. This way, you can protect your damage dealers from enemy attacks or buy your team time to get Pokéballs into the enemy zone without worrying.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Tackle, Recovery (Rest), Ram Boss (Heavy Slam), Back Pull (Block), Snore Roll (Power Nap)
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Focus Band, Buddy Barrier, Weakness Policy

Wigglytuff

Knuddeluff (Wigglytuff)

Knuddeluff is a Supporter that has many different CC abilities. The Pokémon can slow down opponents and put them to sleep. It doesn't stop there, because in addition to strong buffs, Knuddeluff also has a Unite move that removes debuffs from allies and gives them invulnerability.

However, you have quite little health and should therefore stay in the background. Since Knuddeluff's abilities require coordination, it is more suitable for playing with friends than with random players.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Pound, Defense Curl, Sing, Dazzling Gleam, Starlight Recital
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier, Focus Band, Exp. Share

Dragoran

Dragoran (Dragonite)

Dragoran is a versatile all-rounder with high mobility and enormous attack range. Focus on using Dragonite to boost the damage of your auto attacks and abilities. Especially when combined with a double-charged Hyper Beam, you can unleash powerful combos. Use your unite attack Meteor Strike to deal AOE damage to enemies and briefly throw them into the air.

  • Recommended skill build: Twister, Dragon Breath, Dragon Dance, Hyper Beam, Draco Impact
  • Recommended items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier Focus Band Muscle Band

Cinderace

Liberlo (Cinderace)

Like Gengar, Liberlo has a hard time getting into the game at the beginning. The attacker is therefore very dependent on last hits on his lane in order to reach a higher level as quickly as possible. But once you've reached your second evolution, there's no stopping you.

Liberlo is one of the Pokémon with the highest single-target damage. With its Fireball and Flame Backstab abilities, it can take out single targets in seconds, even from a distance. However, be careful not to get ganked by your opponents. Once your opponent has you pinned down, the bunny will quickly drop his ears.

  • Recommended skill build: Ember, Low Sweep, Pyro Ball, Flame Charge, Blazing Bicycle Kick
  • Recommended items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier Muscle Band Scope Lens

Eldegoss

Cottomi (Eldegoss)

Cottomi is one of the most valuable supports for your team with his healing and shield abilities. With AOE (Area of Effect) healing and shields, you'll ensure that your attackers and all-rounders rarely have to leave their lane. However, be careful not to get too deep into the fray with Cottomi, because as a supporter you are a priority target for the enemy team. So stay in the background and focus on healing your allies.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Leafage (Leafage), Synthesis (Synthesis), Pollen Puff (Pollen Puff), Cotton Guard (Cotton Guard), Cotton Cloud Crash (Cotton Cloud Crash)
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier, Wise Glass, Exp. Share

Greninja

Quajutsu (Greninja)

Quajutsu is a good attacker who can cause an enormous amount of burst damage in a very short time. However, in the early stages of the game, he needs some time to himself in the Jungle or a lot of lane support to reach his full potential. Once the Ninja Frog reaches level 5, however, you can use it to hunt down enemies.

To get the passive ability for a boost to his attacks and speed, your health points must drop below 50 percent. However, this also drastically decreases his chances of survival. Therefore, Quajutsu is more suitable for professionals than beginners.

  • Recommended skill build: Blubber (Bubble), Delegator (Substitute), Smokescreen (Smokescreen), Water Shuriken (Water Shuriken), Giga Shuriken (Waterburst Shuriken)
  • Recommended items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier Focus Band Muscle Band

Talonflame

Fiaro (Talonflame)

Fiaro is a sprinter that can give its team a relatively early advantage with ganks out of the Jungle. The bird Pokémon has strong burst abilities and is pretty nippy on the move. However, it first needs some time to collect enough levels in the Jungle. If you are disturbed while farming or even killed by enemy Pokémon, you can find it very difficult to get back into the game with Fiaro. Fiaro's usefulness to its team is particularly dependent on its performance at the beginning of the game.

  • Recommended skill build: Acrobatics, Peck, Aerial Ace, Brave Bird, Flame Sweep
  • Recommended Items: Escape Button, Muscle Band Scope Lens Focus Band

Turtok

Turtok (Blastoise)

Turtok is a defender Pokémon with a lot of Health and quite interesting abilities. Almost all of its skills push opponents back or stun them for a short time. This makes it especially good to play as a so-called Zoner. As Turtok, you'll make sure to push opponents out of the action in teamfights or cut off enemy supporters from their attackers.

Turtok is especially valuable in the later stages of a match when you need to secure the Dreadnaw, Rotom, or Zapdos. Thanks to Turtok's abilities, you can easily keep pesky enemies away from the boss Pokémon and farm them out at your leisure. Your unit move, a water gyroscope, even covers the entire arena at Zapdos. If you get ganked at Zapdos, you can use your Unite move to kick all enemies out of the arena and either finish off Zapdos or start a teamfight. The big disadvantage of Turtok is its long skill cooldowns.

  • Recommended skill build: Aqua Gun (Water Gun), Skull Bash (Skull Bash), Hydro Pump (Hydro Pump), Surfer (Surf), Hydro Typhoon (Hydro Typhoon)
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier, Focus Band, Score Shield

Greedentent

Greedent

Schlaraffel is a chubby squirrel that can take an enormous amount of damage, but can also dish out a lot of damage. In addition, the defender Pokémon has interesting attack mechanics, as it requires Berries for many of its attacks. For example, the tasty berries reduce the cooldown of attacks or boost your abilities.

However, Schlaraffel also relies heavily on its collected berries in battles. If he has few or no berries at the start, he can't reach his full potential. In addition, aiming with Schlaraffel's abilities is a bit of a challenge. With a little practice, however, the berry-addicted rodent is a formidable opponent in the arena.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Tackle, Defense Curl, Belch, Covet, Berry Belly Flop
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier, Attack Weight, Score Shield

Duraludon

Duraludon

The metal dragon Duraludon is an attacker who has devastating ranged attacks. He prefers to attack his opponents with laser attacks. Its strengths include its high offensive power and its attack range. His defense and mobility are not quite as good. So when you play Duraludon, it depends on his positioning.

  • Recommended skill build: Metal Claw, Laser Focus, Dragon Pulse, Stealth Rock, Revolving Ruin
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier Muscle Band Focus Band

Machamp

Machomei (Machamp)

Machomei tears huge holes in opponents' defenses with pure muscle power alone. His abilities inflict enormous damage on enemies in a very short time (Burst Damage). One of his weaknesses, however, is his short range, because as a melee fighter he first has to get close enough to his opponents. With the Dash and Speed Boost skills, you can compensate for his short range.

  • Recommended skill build: Bulk Up, Karate Chop, Submission, Cross Chop, Barrage Blow
  • Recommended Items: X Attack , Scope Lens, Buddy Barrier, Muscle Band

Gardevoir

Guardevoir (Gardevoir)

Guardevoir is an attacker with good range and strong AOE abilities. However, the Pokémon is very weak in the early game and definitely needs support on the lane. However, once you reach level 6 with the attacker, the petite Pokémon turns into a real killing machine.

Use your teleport to shorten the distance to your opponent and get a damage bonus for your next attack. Afterwards, smash your opponents in the face with your powerful AOE abilities.

  • Recommended skill build: Confusion, Teleport, Moonblast, Future Sight, Fairy Singularity
  • Recommended Items: Slow Smoke, Energy Amplifier, Wise Glasses, Choice Specs

Alolan Ninetales

Alola-Vulnona (Alolan Ninetales)

Alola Vulnona combines powerful burst damage with useful CC abilities. The attacker Pokémon can slow down, freeze, and knock back its opponents. Alola Vulnona's abilities are most effective when your opponents overestimate themselves when attacking a checkpoint or they are carelessly farming Pokémon in the Jungle. Your CC abilities ensure that retreat becomes nearly impossible for your enemies.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Ice Storm (Icy Wind), Powder Snow (Powder Snow), Avalanche (Avalanche), Blizzard, Frost Nova (Snow Globe)
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Wise Glasses, Focus Band, Choice Specs

Mr. Mime

Pantimos (Mr. Mime)

Pantimos is a supporterhe is a very powerful Pokémon that can get on the nerves of opposing Pokémon. With his abilities, he can pull Pokémon to him and lock them up with walls. He can also swap his Defense and SP Defense values with those of another Pokémon, buffing allies or debuffing opponents.

However, Pantimos can do little on its own and is absolutely dependent on a strong partner to reach its full potential. Furthermore, you will need some practice in timing your abilities correctly.

  • Recommended skill build: Fake Out, Light Screen, Confusion, Guard Swap, Showtime
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Assault Vest, Focus Band, Exp. Share

Slowbro

Lahmus (Slowbro)

Lahmus is a defender according to its official categorization, but it is much more worthwhile to play it as a disabler. With his Telekinesis ability, he can hold an opponent's Pokémon for several seconds, taking it out of play completely. Apply Telekinesis to the enemy Damage Dealers and your allies can quickly take out the held Pokémon together.

However, you should not go on a kill hunt with Lahmus on your own; its attacks and abilities are too weak for that. Only when you have unlocked your Unite move can you try to finish off stricken enemies.

  • Recommended skill build: Water Gun, Slack Off, Surf, Telekinesis, Slow Beam
  • Recommended Items: Potion, Focus Band, Score Shield, Buddy Barrier

Feelinara

Feelinara (Sylveon)

Feelinara is an attacker Pokémon that offers a good mix between attack and defense. Unlike many other Pokémon, it is especially valuable to its team in both the early and late game stages. You do most of your damage with a combination of its Thoughtspread and Soundwave abilities. Thoughtseize briefly increases your movement speed and special attack and defense. This buffs your sonic wave, a cone-shaped area attack.

However, Feelinara isn't exactly easy to play, and you'll miss with your sonic wave more often than not in the heat of battle. To get the most out of Feelinara, it's best to play it with a partner who can stun or hold your opponents.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Swift, Baby Doll Eyes, Hyper Voice, Calm Mind, Fairy Frolic
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier, Focus Band, Choice Specs

Crustle

Castellith (Crustle)

Castellith is a defender that is extremely hard to break down and also has a very useful CC ability possesses. The crab with the rock on its back can create a stone wall that either separates the opposing team or traps fleeing Pokémon. Castellith is great for initiating team fights and intercepting enemy damage.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Fury Cutter, Rock Slide, Shell Smash, X-Scissor, Rubble Rouser
  • Recommended Items: X Attack, Focus Band, Muscle Band, Buddy Barrier

Heiteira

Heiteira (Blissey)

Heiteira is a supporter that allows you to babysit your allies especially well. With your healing and ability to remove debuffs, you give your lane mates a carefree time to farm. On your Unite move, Heiteira charges at an ally and gives them an egg. Pokémon that you ram during your rush will be tossed aside. The egg you hand over gives your ally a shield and briefly increases its Attack and Sp. Atk.

Even though Heiteira has a relatively high amount of health, you shouldn't venture too far into battles. This is because due to her weak defense stats, her health will melt away pretty damn quickly in fights. Also, using the buffs requires a bit of coordination with your lane partner.

  • Recommended skill build: Heal Pulse, Pound, Safeguard, Helping Hand, Bliss Assistance
  • Recommended Items: X Speed, Exp. Share, Focus Band, Buddy Barrier

Mamutel

Mamutel (Manoswine)

Mamutel is a defender who can take a punch and dish it out at the same time. The mammoth with the pig nose can therefore ideally be played as an initiator who initiates team fights.

With the Horsepower or Earthquake abilities, you can shorten the distance between you and your opponent in a matter of seconds and inflict a lot of damage at the same time. Once you're in melee range, you can use Ice Tap Hail or Ice Fang to slow down or freeze your opponents. And to top off the combo, stomp your opponents into the ground with the Unite attack Stomp Press.

  • Recommended skill build: Tackle, Ice Shard, Icicle Crash, Earthquake, Mammoth Mash
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Weakness Policy, Focus Band, Buddy Barrier

Charizard

Glurak (Charizard)

Glurak is a good Pokémon for beginners thanks to its versatile playstyle, good damage, and decent Health pool. However, with Glurak you have little influence on the course of the game in the early stages. Glurak needs a lot of experience and a level advantage to unleash its full potential. His famous Seismic Slam, used at the right time, can even turn around a battle you thought was lost.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Flame Burst, Fire Spin, Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Seismic Slam
  • Recommended Items: X Speed, Float Stone, Scope Lens, Muscle Band

Absol

Absol

Absol is a sprinter who feels most at home in the Jungle. If you have the opportunity to gain experience there in peace and quiet, you can dare to make your first ganks on enemy Pokémon at around level 5. Like other sprinters, Absol is characterized by high mobility and strong burst abilities. You should definitely save your Unite move for larger team fights.

In the unit move Finster Claw, Absol attacks opponents in a cone-shaped AOE first with fast attacks and then with energy blades. The special feature: You cannot be attacked by enemy Pokémon or stopped with CC abilities during this time.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Slash, Reveal, Night Slash, Psycho Cut, Midnight Slash
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Muscle Band Razor Claw Scope Lens

Durengard

Durengard (Aegislash)

Durgengard is an all-rounder with a particularly interesting mechanic. Namely, his passive ability allows him to switch between an attack and defense form. If you use blade attacks, he takes the blade form and his movement and attack speed are increased. In addition, his attack power increases. On the other hand, when using shield abilities, Durengard assumes his defense stance, increasing his physical and special defense. The two forms allow you to play the Pokémon in a versatile way. However, the difficulty lies in switching to the right form in each situation.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Shadow Sneak, Iron Defense, Sacred Sword, Iron Head, Coup de Grace
  • Recommended Items: X Attack, Muscle Band Focus Band Razor Claw

Silvarro

Silvarro (Decidueye)

Silvarro is a good archer who can play to its strengths especially in ranged combat. The attacker Pokémon has a passive ability that deals higher damage to distant enemies. Concentrate on dealing with enemies with your normal attacks and razor blade from a distance. If an enemy gets too close, you can use Leaf Storm to push them away from you.

Silvarro's unit move, a non-stop hail of arrows in a selected direction, is best used before the start of an impending teamfight, as the hail of arrows doesn't deal high damage immediately, but accumulates damage over time.

Silvarro has a quite high attack speed and deals - if you let him - decent damage. However, the bird Pokémon buckles quite quickly in close combat. So beware of enemies that can jump at you at lightning speed, like Gengar, Lucario or Absol.

  • Recommended skill build: Leafage (Leafage), Astonish (Astonish), Razorleaf (Razorleaf), Leafstorm (Leafstorm), Hail of Feather Arrows (Nock Nock)
  • Recommended items: Eject Button, Scope Lens Muscle Band Focus Band

Azumarill

Azumarill

The Water Fairy Pokémon Azumarill is a balanced all-rounder that shines especially in duels with single opponents. If the Pokémon hits a single enemy with an attack or ability, it always lands a direct hit. This makes Azumarill an excellent jungler and allows you to complete Objectives on your own in a flash. Another strength is the fast recharge rate of his unit moves.

One of Azumarill's weaknesses is his low mobility, which is difficult to compensate even with items. In addition, the Water Bunny is particularly vulnerable to Crowd Control, as it has no abilities that are unstoppable.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Tackle, Blubber (Bubble), Whirlpool, Hugger (Play Rough), Aquatic Drum Blast (Belly Bash)
  • Recommended Items: Hyper Healer (Full Heal), Scope Lens (Scope Lens) Muscle Band (Muscle Band) Weakness Policy (Weakness Policy)

C-Tier Pokémon in Pokémon Unite

PokémonRoleRecommended Lane
GengarSprinterJungle
ZeraoraSprinterJungle/Bot
Knakrack (Garchomp)AllrounderJungle

Gengar

Gengar

Gengar is a sprinter who doesn't really get off the ground at the beginning of the match. However, once you've gained a few levels, you can leave your side of the Jungle and help with kills (gank) on the lanes or dust off injured opponents in the enemy Jungle.

The advantages of Gengar are that your abilities cause negative status effects on enemies and you have a relatively high attack range despite melee attacks. The Hex ability is also useful not only for jumping at your enemies from the background, but also for escaping from enemy ganks.

  • Recommended skill build: Will-O-Wisp, Lick, Sludge Bomb, Burden (Hex), Phantom Ambush
  • Recommended Items: Eneco Rod (Fluffy Tail), Wise Glasses (Choice Specs) Shell Bell (Shell Bell)

Zeraora

Zeraora

Zeraora is a sprinter with top-notch burst capabilities and high mobility. The optimal position for Zeraora is the Jungle. Gain some experience there first and then go hunting for enemy Pokémon. It's best to pick opponents who are gaining experience in the Jungle themselves or who are on their own.

Thanks to your extremely high burst damage, you should have no problems with your opponents in 1-vs-1. You can also dominate team fights with your powerful unit move. However, be careful not to get hit by CC abilities.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Slash, Agility, Volt Switch, Discharge, Plasma Gale
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Buddy Barrier Attack Weight Score Shield

Garchomp

Knakrack (Garchomp)

Do you like to be the first to enter the fray in team fights? Then Knakrack is the perfect Pokémon for you. The Sand Shark has a lot of Health and can withstand enemy attacks for a long time. Knakrack also has a passive ability that occasionally reflects enemy damage back at its attackers.

Use the Dig ability to quickly shorten the distance between you and the enemies and pop up under them. Afterwards, give them a huge shock with the Earthquake skill.

  • Recommended skill build: Bulldoze, Sand Attack, Dig, Earthquake, Livid Outrage
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Weakness Policy Focus Band Buddy Barrier

D-Tier Pokémon in Pokémon Unite

PokémonRoleRecommended Lane
Trombork (Trevenant)DefenderTop/Bot
Urgl (Cramorant)AttackerTop/Bot

Trombork

Trombork (Trevenant)

Trombork is a defender Pokémon that can take a lot of damage and also has useful crowd control abilities. However, the tree Pokémon clearly lacks mobility. With the Suffer Divider ability, you can transfer a portion of your damage received to an enemy Pokémon. Use this ability to give enemy attackers some of their own medicine.

  • Recommended Skill Build: Will-O-Wisp, Branch Poke, Curse, Pain Split, Phantom Forest
  • Recommended Items: P otion, Score Shield, Buddy Barrier, Focus Band

Cramorant

Urgl (Cramorant)

Urgl is an attacker who can dish out a lot of ranged damage while also taking a hit or two. Urgl's unit move, the Gatling Gulp Missile, is a devastating Ultimate in which it becomes a stand-up MG and pressures enemy Pokémon with rapid bursts of fire. However, Urgl cannot move while doing so and is defenseless against its opponents' attacks and CC abilities. So pick a protected spot for your Unite move.

  • Recommended skill build: Whirlpool, Feather Dance, Hurricane, Surfer, Gatling Gulp Missile
  • Recommended Items: Eject Button, Wise Glasses Choice Specs Focus Band
