Red Dead Redemption 2 Fence: Find locations & sell jewelry
In this guide, we'll help anyone who is having trouble finding & unlocking a fence in Red Dead Redemption 2. With us you will learn
- where to find fences in the Open World
- how to sell watches, jewelry and other stolen goods
- what you can sell from them
- what items they have on offer
Last updated: 19.11.2019
The open game world is huge, it hides many secrets(dinosaur bones in RDR2 or exotic objects in RDR2) as well as gangs that you can fight with all the weapons in Red Dead Redemption2. Whether you're clearing out an enemy gang's camp or committing a heist, the objects you collect won't be sold at the general store around the corner.
To get cash for them, you'll have to find fences. They will buy the stolen goods from you (at a slightly reduced price). But where can you find them in Ambarino, Lemoyne or New Hanover? We will help you with this solution.
All tips are of course also valid for the PC version of RDR2, which was released on November 05, 2019.

Unlock fences in Red Dead Redemption 2
Before you can sell your shady goods to the people, you must have reached a certain story progress in the action adventure. To do this, complete the mission "The Backbones of America" in the second chapter.
This quest also introduces you to a special fence: Seamus at Emerald Ranch. He will not only take looted rings and the like, but also stolen carriages. You can get rid of illegally acquired horses after completing the mission "Horseflesh for Dinner" in the third chapter at the fence in Clemen's Clove.
Fence locations on the map in RDR 2
At regular dealers in Valentine, Rhodes or Saint Denis you sell only honestly earned or hunted goods. As soon as you start looting people, you'll have to find fences. You'll recognize these characters in Red Dead Redemption 2 by the icon on the map, which you can see below.
This resembles a white bag with a black cross painted in the center. At these shady dealers, you can get rid of belt buckles or pocket watches that you've taken not entirely legally. Our favorite places for fences are Van Horn, Saint Denis, Rhodes and Emerald Ranch.
By the way: If the next fence is just too far away, you should put the stolen goods in the donation box of the "Van der Linde" gang.
There it will be immediately converted into cash, which you can invest in camp upgrades. These allow you, for example, to change your horse in RDR2 right at the Horseshoe Overlook.
Lockpick & more - What do the fences sell in RDR2?
Fences try to take the dollars you've earned through raids right back from you with tempting offers. Their selection includes lock picks, improved items for close combat like machetes, or accessories like masks that protect Arthur's identity during heists.
A complete overview of the items that fences have in their assortment can be found in the next sections of this guide. We will distinguish between normal fence items and objects that the peddler creates for you from materials of legendary animals.
Some of the goods offered are purely cosmetic - they don't give you better stats, they just look different. However, we were very happy to invest in a machete for improved melee combat, for example. For a list of all weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2, click through to another of our guides.
