Differences between parasites and pathogens

The main difference between parasites and pathogens is that parasites live and feed on the host, while pathogens only cause disease in the host. Additionally, parasites can cause a wide variety of health problems, from mild infestations to serious and life-threatening illnesses. On the other hand, pathogens can cause acute, chronic or even permanent diseases, but they generally do not survive for long outside the host.
