Apex Legends Bloodhound: How to win with the legendary hunter

You will learn in this Bloodhound Guide to Apex Legend s among other things:

  • how to read Bloodhound's tracks
  • how to bypass the long activation animation of Bloodhound's Ulti
  • which weaknesses his abilities bring with them

No opponent in Apex Legends can hide from the mysterious legend Bloodhound. His abilities will make you the ultimate hunter in Apex games. If you like to play offensively and aggressively, Bloodhound is the right choice for you.

Bloodhound is also the only recon character in Apex Legends to date. Thus, he is also the only way to get the "Apex Recon" trophy. To do this, you'll have to win a round as Bloodhound. We'll tell you the best way to do that here.

Apex Legends Bloodhound - Passive Ability: Tracker

Bloodhound's "Tracker" ability shows you where your enemies have been with symbols in the game world. Red symbols mean that the tracks are still very fresh, white symbols mean that the tracks are older. The outline of the icons contains an expiring timer that tells you how old the tracks are.

If you aim at the tracks of the enemies, the exact age of the track and what happened there will be displayed.

Use this information to track down enemies and surprise them. But don't let the tracks mislead you either; due to the fast movement in Apex Legends, enemy players - despite fresh tracks - can already be somewhere else.

Apex Legends Bloodhound - Tactic Ability: Eye of the Allfather

The tactic ability "Eye of the Allfather" briefly reveals enemy and trap positions through walls. A wallhack at the touch of a button, so to speak. But Eye of the Allfather isn't as overpowered as it sounds at first glance.

For one thing, the "Wallhack" only works in a limited area in front of you, and not 360 degrees around you. For another, enemies are informed that they have been spotted by your tactics ability. So your enemies will know that you are coming as soon as you use the ability.

"Eye of the All-Father" should therefore be used with caution. It will tell you the exact locations of the enemies and Caustic's gas traps in the building in front of you, but at the same time it will warn them of your arrival.

Used correctly, however, it can give you the edge by displaying enemy positions for your entire squad. For example, if stricken enemies are retreating, you can quickly determine their position and finish them off.

Apex Legends Bloodhound - Ultimate Ability: Lord of the Hunt

"Lord of the Hunt" offers exactly what it promises you. Once activated, a gray filter is applied to your screen and enemies and their footprints in your field of view are highlighted in red, plus you run 25 percent faster. The effect lasts for 35 seconds, and without the Ultimate Accelerator, it takes 180 seconds to be ready to use again.

This powerful Ulti is especially useful for building up pressure on the enemy team. It allows you to get close to your opponents quickly, but disappear just as quickly when things get tricky.

Bloodhound's Ulti puts a gray filter over the image and marks enemies red.

As strong as Bloodhound's ultimate ability is, it also has its drawbacks. There is the relatively long activation animation. You shouldn't activate the ability in the middle of a fight, as you'll be defenseless for a few seconds. However, you can avoid the animation with two tricks:

  • Either you activate the Ulti while climbing over an obstacle (the obstacle must not be too high!).
  • Or you can use it while gliding along a zipline.

In both cases, the animation is skipped and you are immediately ready to fight again. Also note that the ability is very loud and your opponents may hear you coming.

So Bloodhound's abilities are very powerful when used correctly, but they also make enemies aware of you, so the short-lived "Wallhack" and hunting instincts don't become overpowered.
