  • What decisions you have to make at the water tower

In Dying Light 2: Stay Human, you'll get caught up in a conflict between Peacekeepers and Survivors, and you'll have to make the first big decisions in Old Villedor. We show you the way to the decisions around the water tower in Old Villedor and the consequences.

Dying Light 2 Water Tower Decision: Which quest do I have to follow?

After Hakon has shown you the city and the open world opens up, you will quickly get into the Peacekeepers in the quest "The Only Way Out". Their leader Aitor offers Aiden a deal: Find Lucas' killer and you'll gain access to the central ring. During the investigation, you'll shuttle back and forth between Peacekeepers and survivors until you're tasked with capturing Jack & Joe's camp and freeing the survivor Carl.

Capture Jack & Joe's camp - this is how you kill the bandit leader

Climb down the bridge and go around the bandit camp once on the left. Watch out for the zombies and don't make a racket. At the side of the building you can climb over a delivery truck onto a balcony and from there continue upwards until you get access through an open window.

Go through the building and you will reach the warehouse. Keep to the right and hide behind the red balcony railings. The bandit leader is standing directly below you. Throw a Molotov cocktail at his head and hide again until the guards stop searching. Repeat the process until he bites the dust. Jump down, kill the remaining bandits and turn the marked crank to capture the bandit camp.

You can conveniently serve the bandit leader in Jack & Joe's camp some Molotov cocktails from above

Dying Light 2 decision: Aitor or Sophie?

After you free Carl, a decision comes up: Hakon radios you and advises Aiden to go to Aitor. If you follow his advice, you'll meet the Peacekeeper commander and he'll let you in on his plans to take the water tower. After that, you'll continue directly in the paragraph "Dying Light 2 Water Tower: How to prevent it from being blown up".

If you reject Hakon's proposal and go in search of Sophie, you will arrive at the Tango Motel and experience an optional boss fight. Run up the staircase to the upper floor. Use the balcony and the ropeway on the adjacent building to get to the locked room. Interact with the radio on the roof terrace and a fight with Barney's men will take place.

Hakon will radio you before you have to choose between Sophie and Aitor for the first time.

Boss fight: How to defeat Hermann

For the fight against Hermann, you'll need patience above all. Let the giant strike a blow and dodge to the side just before. Give him a quick blow and keep your distance again. After a while Hermann starts with a combination of punches: First he starts with a heavy blow. If it misses, he will immediately hit you again. So wait with your attack for a short while.

When you have emptied two thirds of Hermann's energy bar, you will have to do a roundhouse punch to it. So dodge three times and attack only afterwards. If you have a Molotov cocktail, you can additionally weaken the deaf giant. Don't let him force you into a corner, otherwise you'll hardly be able to escape his combinations.

Be careful: in one of the corners of the arena there is a defective electric box, which will kill you immediately if you touch it. The way out of the arena is via the clotheslines above the blocked exit door.

Dying Light 2 decision: help Sophie or refuse the survivors?

Find Barney at the motel and you will have a confrontation with Sophie. In the ensuing dialogue, you will have two decision options: To help Sophie, choose "We can help each other" and then "I'll help you". In the following quest you will secure the water tower on behalf of the survivors.

If you choose the dialog option "You could try, but ...", you'll learn more about Lucas' killer and the siblings will leave you at the motel. Afterwards, you will meet Aitor and head to the water tower for the Peacekeepers.

Sophie and Barney give you a choice in Dying Light 2 before heading to the water tower.

Dying Light 2 water tower: How to prevent the blast

You secure the water tower - no matter which faction - by disarming three explosive charges. You will find the first one right after the entrance. Then climb up the inside of the tower until you are in front of a board wall. Smash it and disarm the second explosive charge behind it.

You will automatically pass the third explosive charge. It is placed between the red barrels. Climb over the barrels onto the parapet and up to the top. Break the boards at the window and jump onto the free dangling cage outside. From there you can get to the door to Jack and Joe.

Jack and Joe: fight or negotiate?

You have two options: Fight or negotiate. If you solve the situation peacefully, you'll learn more about Lucas' killer and unlock an optional side mission. You can accept it later in the Peacekeeper Station in the Central Ring. To do so, select the dialog options "Negotiate" and "I will help you".

If you decide to fight, they will try to blow up the tower, fail and want to negotiate. Now you have another chance to help them or kill them in battle. Both options will lead you to assign the water tower to the Peacekeepers or the survivors.

You can let the crooks Jack and Joe go or end their existence in battle.
