Devil May Cry 5 Skills: The top skills for Dante, Nero & V

In our Devil May Cry 5 guideto the skills and abilities of the three protagonists you will learn, among other things:

  • how Dante, Nero and V fight
  • which skills are worthwhile

Although you'll play three different demon hunters in Devil May Cry 5, who already seem powerful at the beginning, you'll have to buy them more skills. This is the only way you'll defeat the various final bosses and get additional points.

The individual skills can be bought with red orbs, the universal currency in Devil May Cry 5. You'll get them after successfully completing a mission, as well as scattered throughout the individual sections. Sometimes it's worth saving up for a bigger skill. To let you know which ones are really worth it and quickly give you advantages in battle, we've put together a selection for you.

Interesting to know: If you want to master all skills and even pocket the really expensive ones, you'll need to collect a lot of red orbs. A total of more than 10 million points are needed to really tickle everything out of the three young men. Then V rides on his demon and does powerful damage and Dante knocks his hat around the enemies' ears.

1. Nero

With Nero you start . Once you can summon Nico in her van, the hard earned red orbs can be exchanged for abilities. But plan well what you want to acquire. Because besides skills, they are also used as a means of exchange for the Devil Breaker. These are the prosthetic arms with special abilities that Nero uses in the fight against the demons. They are not cheap and are a consumable item, so always have a few in reserve.

Exeed 2 & 3

If you like fighting with Nero's sword and want to use it powerfully in battle, there is a possibility to strengthen it additionally. Nero's Exeed ability allows you to charge up Red Queen and launch a devastating attack.

At levels 2 and 3, this ability is even stronger, but the levels aren't cheap either. You'll have to pay 3800, then 12000 red points to boost Red Queen. But it's worth it!

Wire Snatch

To connect Nero's attacks, you need a special weapon that works like a lasso or grappling hook. If you level up Wire Snatch, you can significantly increase its range and reach enemies who are standing or flying a bit further away.

Wire Snatch 2 and 3 are essential to connect the individual attacks into a long chain and thus get a better rating for the fight. While you can afford the 8000 for the first upgrade quite quickly, you will have to do without the additional upgrade at the beginning. But saving is worth it here as well.

Air Hike

Jumping is one of the most important yet simple actions in Devil May Cry. Not only can it be used to overcome ledges, but also to create exciting combos. A double jump in the air helps to dodge the attacks of the (final) enemy and launch an attack of your own from above.

Color Up & Charge Shot

Blue Rose is the name for what is probably Nero's handiest weapon. With the press of a button, the cheeky protagonist fires his bullets at the demons. The skills for this weapon are not particularly varied, so we've combined both categories here. We recommend that you buy Color Up and Charge Shot at least once each to play cool combinations.

After all, the advantage of firearms is that you can land hits at a long distance and with a safe distance. If they do a decent amount of damage - all the better!

Streak

Cheap & Good! For only 800 red orbs you get Streak. With this, even hordes of enemies in close proximity are no longer a problem, because this attack takes care of a large number of enemies. Perfect when you are surrounded.

Devil Breaker Plus

Nero's secret weapon is the Devil Breaker, which his partner Nico makes for him. However, the inventory is very limited at the beginning and can only hold three Devil Breakers. If you have a few red dots to spare, it never hurts to invest here. Nero can then carry up to eight different Dev il Breakers.

Also quite useful

In it goes about fighting. With as cool a weapon as possible and proper power behind it, the demons are attacked. It can happen that you are hit. To dodge better, buy the different levels of Table Hopper and glide past the demonic attacks.

Red Queen has its own combos in addition to Exeed and some abilities. Feel free to invest the money in these skills relatively early to launch devastating attacks.

2. V

The mysterious V fights completely different than his two comrades Dante and Nero. He tends to stay in the background and lets his demonic friends do the work in hack'n'slay. Only for the death blow he also goes to the front.

Promotion

Besides Griffon and Shadow, V calls another demon named Nightmare. If you buy the skill Promotion for 20000 red orbs, V swings on his back and rides him.

Green Gainer & White Gainer

With these two skills you get an increased number of green and white orbs as long as Nightmare is on the field.

Royal Fork

As you already know, V finishes off his opponents with the walking stick when they are weakened. With the Royal Fork skill, everyone in the area will die. This way you don't have to select them one by one. However, at 50,000 points, this skill is also quite expensive.

Double Check

The flying demon Griffon is under V's command and can attack enemies with electric shocks. Double Check allows him to launch another tingling attack and throw it against multiple enemies.

Griffon Vigor

This ability increases the defense of the demonic bird. With it, you'll prevent him from going down after only a few hits. If this skill is too expensive for you at the beginning, you can also switch to Griffon Vim. With 8000 red points it costs less than half as much and shortens the time until Griffon is ready for action again.

Shadow Combo B

What can a wildcat do best? That's right, attack with its big claws. This skill lets Shadow show his true nature and attack enemies with his claws. For 12,000 red orbs, he'll also waggle the black to deal damage while doing so.

Hedgehog

With the Hedgehog skill, Shadow's appearance changes. He gets spikes like a hedgehog, which fly in all directions at the press of a button and hurt the enemies. This is especially advantageous in large groups.

Skewer

If you have a few points left, invest them in this skill. Unlike Hedgehog, Shadow's body stays the same, only his head turns into a giant needle. With it, he deals devastating damage to enemies.

3. Dante

The experienced demon hunter is also involved in part 5. He wasn't able to stop the threat on his own, so he brought Nero and V on board. However, the DMC veteran has also evolved and has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Air Hike

Air Hike is also an important skill for Dante, and with 4,500 Orbs, it's relatively quick to learn. It allows Dante to perform a double jump. Use it to dodge enemy attacks or get closer to them. The double jump is also good for connecting individual attacks for strong combos and a high Stylish rank.

Drive

This skill refers toand gives a good extra boost of power when you hold down the corresponding button. If you perform Drive, you'll be able to hit even distant enemies.

Knock your way through hordes of demons in cool stunts

Swords Formation

For all-around protection, Dante uses the Swords Formation ability. He summons a total of four swords around him that automatically attack, block or help dodge. They only stay for a certain amount of time, so use them wisely and attack enemies with them before they disappear.

Updraft

Cheap and especially handy against flying enemies is Updraft. Dante performs a powerful kick, helping winged enemies back down to earth to attack them more easily. Little extra: it looks damn cool and only requires 3000 red points.

Charge Shot

Dante also likes to draw his Ebony & Ivory revolvers during the fight. If you level up the Charge Shot skill, you can deal a lot of damage from a distance. The first both upgrades to this are inexpensive and worth it for varied gameplay.

Dr. Fist

The skills under Dr. Faust are especially useful in the last third of the game. Man in the Red, for example, summons many red orbs on the field that deal damage on contact. However, this uses the orbs from your inventory. So you should have quite a few in stock.

It's worth putting points into Dr. Faust 2 through 4 in the latter part of the game. Although these skills are very expensive, they help you collect more and more orbs, which in turn can be used in battle.
