Where can I find mods for Pathfinder: Kingmaker?

Owlcat Games, the developers of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, have not provided official mod support for the game. That means you have to use an external site and install the modifications yourself. But that's not a big hurdle, because the well-known portal Nexusmods offers everything you need.

If you are wondering how to do the whole thing on the PlayStation 4 () or Xbox One (), we unfortunately have to disappoint you. While the modifications available on Nexusmods are compatible with all PC versions of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, there is no way to install mods for console.

How do I install Pathfinder: Kingmaker mods?

First, download the Unity Mod Manager, unzip the archive using a program like 7-Zip or WinRAR, and run the .exe file to install the mod manager. During the installation, select Pathfinder: Kingmaker. If the game folder is not automatically detected, add it manually. The Steam version can be found under "/Steam/steamapps/common/Pathfinder Kingmaker/".

If you start Pathfinder: Kingmaker now, the manager will open automatically. If it does not, you may have made a mistake during installation. In this case it is best to delete the Unity Mod Manager and install it again.

Then download the mods you want and drag the zip files into the mod manager to start the installation. To access the mod menu in the game itself, press CTRL and F10. Here you can turn the mods on and off. You can also see the status of all installed mod files.

Before we get to the individual mods, a few quick notes. The Definitive Edition of the game already contains some changes that were previously only available via mods. Among other things, a turn-based mode has been added that was previously only available via a mod.

Since the mods are not official, they can cause problems when playing. Depending on the mod installed, it can lead to Frame rate drops or even crashes can occur. This is especially likely when multiple mods are enabled at the same time. Not all extensions get along with each other.

The best mods for Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Which are really the best mods for Pathfinder: Kingmaker is of course subjective. But we have gathered the most important and exciting mods in our opinion. Since there is no huge studio behind the RPG, you'll see that there are some modifications that implement basic features. Have fun modding!

Call of the Wild & A Touch of Magic

Let's start with a mod that is officiallyapproved by the developers . It brings you four new classes, including brand new skills and spells. In addition, some adjustments and optimizations will be made. But under the Mod Manager, you can choose which features of the Call of the Wild mod you actually want to use.

A Touch of Magic requires Call of the Wild. The mod offers another class, the Arcane Marksman, and builds on the first mod. So it's best to download it directly.

Camera Rotation

This mod allows you to rotate the camera around the characters. This is normally not possible in the game. This allows you to explore the world of Pathfinder: Kingmaker even better. Especially in the new turn-based battles, the full control of the camera through Camera Rotation helps to keep track of the battlefield.

Carry More & Rest Less

Actually two independent expansions, but if you like one, you'll probably be interested in the other. Carry More lets you carry more and Rest Less lets you adjust the speed at which your squad gets tired. So both mods bypass a complex hurdle and make the game experience much more enjoyable (if less realistic).

Cheat Menu

If you want to turn Pathfinder: Kingmaker completely upside down, you'll need the cheat menu. Here you can control just about every variable in the game. Earn gold and experience points or finish quests at the push of a button. But be careful: This will quickly destroy your gameplay.

Cleaner

This mod doesn't change anything in the gameplay, but helps you manage the game data. It reduces the size of the save slots and even reduces the amount of memory used by the game by deleting loot as soon as you leave an area.

Closer to Tabletop

If you have played the Pathfinder pen & paper role-playing game and then play Kingmaker, you will notice some differences. Closer to Tablet op, as the name suggests, brings you closer to the origin. Aspects such as flanking or soft covers are based on the tabletop game. The best way to use this expansion is in combination with the turn-based mode of the Definitive Edition.

Craft Magic Items

This mod brings some skills from the pen & paper role-playing game to the video game. Through Craft Magic Items, players can craft and use regular and custom magic items. However, the process takes time and also costs a bunch of gold as well as rare items.

Fast Travel

Fast Travel is not a fast travel feature in the true sense. Instead, the mod offers the possibility, adjust the speed when you're in combat, exploration, or world map mode. Since you can easily sink over 100 hours into Pathfinder: Kingmaker, a little time saving is definitely a good thing.

Heroes of Stolen Lands - For all Game of Thrones fans

Dissatisfied with the character portraits in Pathfinder: Kingmaker? Then you are not alone and there is a remedy. Heroes of the Stolen Lands offers almost 300 new good quality images that you can assign to your characters. If you want, you can even use the Game of Thrones Bonus Pack and create characters from A Song of Ice and Fire.

Kingdom Resolution

If you don't enjoy managing your own kingdom and would rather focus on pure role-playing gameplay, Kingdom Resolution is for you. Complete events in a day, level up your advisors faster, and customize your rewards. The mod makes managing much faster and easier.

Pathfinder Editor

Even more than the cheat menu, the Pathfinder Editor makes you the god of the game. Here you can play with all numbers and adjust all values. Do you want more strength for your character, more gold in your wallet or more items in your inventory? No problem with the Pathfinder Editor.

Respecialization

The fact that you can't undo your character's development in the game is intentional on the part of the developers. However, since even the smallest mistakes can lead to useless fools who don't stand a chance against later enemies, the respacialization mod can save you a few hours. You can even customize characters whose stats are actually fixed by the game.

Visual Adjustments

If you've put a lot of effort and time into creating your character, you'll be annoyed when your beautiful hero is covered by ugly equipment items. For this problem there is Visual Adjustments. The mod lets you remove helmets, backpacks and even wings without sacrificing the stats bonus of the respective item.
