Assassin''s Creed Odyssey: Solve the Atlantis questline

In our guide to the Atlantis questline in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, we explain:

  • Where to find Atlantis
  • Which mystical creatures you have to defeat
  • Where to find all the artifacts
  • How to seal Atlantis

In the huge open world of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, a lot of adventures await us. The fact that this includes not only animals from Greek mythology, but also the lost city of Atlantis, is really just the icing on the cake.

Where can I find Atlantis in Assassin's Creed Odyssey?

The lost city becomes accessible to us only after we find our main character's mother during the main story of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Myrinne informs us that we will find the real father of Kassandra/Alexios on the island of Thera.

In the course of the mission "A Family Legacy" in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, we then not only track down our hero's sire, but also find the sunken city of Atlantis at the same time.

In Atlantis, you'll hear rather cryptic recordings of the First Civilization and meet your hero's real father.

However, the treasure of knowledge hidden there poses a great danger to mankind. Hero's father Pythagoras (Yes, the one with the theorem about triangles.) explains that we need to seal the city. But for that we need four artifacts, which we have to obtain in the quest series "The Gates of Atlantis".

The quest steps for "The Gates of Atlantis

1. Artifact: How do I get the Treasure of the Sphinx?

The easiest to get is the Treasure of the Sphinx. For this we don't need the virtual muscle power of our hero, but we have to use our own brains.

If you answer correctly, you have nothing to fear from the Sphinx.

The Sphinx can be found west of the city of Thebes in the region of Boiotia, where she confronts us with a riddle. If we answer her questions correctly, we will take the treasure from her. If we fail, she kills us and we have to start over with her riddle in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

To make sure that you only need one attempt at the Sphinx's riddle, we have summarized all the correct answers to the Sphinx's questions in Assassin's Creed Odysseey for you.

2. Artifact: How do I get the treasure of the Cyclops on Thisvi?

The situation is different with the Cyclops. The one-eyed bruiser is waiting on the islandThisvi (south of Phokis) to be defeated by us.

Before we can knock out his lights, we'll have to start in a completely different place. On the island of Kythera (south of Laconia) we first have to save a supposed god named Empedocles. The megalomaniac in his underwear then leads us directly to the Cyclops, who, however, turns his "brother" into slush with one blow.

The eye is the Cyclops' weak point.

Our tip for the fight against the Cyclops: Bring enough arrows - we tell you in our arrow guide to Assassin's Creed Odysseyhow to change and make arrows. The giant is vulnerable to both fire and poison damage.

We can also do both in melee combat using the appropriate skills. However, the Cyclops will then attack us and slap us against walls or on the ground, costing lots of health. Therefore, keep a safe distance.

3. Artifact: How to steal the Minotaur's treasure?

You will have to deal with the Minotaur on the island of Crete, more precisely in Messara. However, the hybrid creature becomes accessible only after you complete some missions for the peck Ardos. He has made himself at home in the ruins of the palace of Knossos, after his father never came back from the Minotaur's labyrinth.

Once inside, we find the golden thread that Theseus used to find his way through the Minotaur's lab yrinth. If we follow it, we will find the father of Ardos in Assassin's Creed Odyssey - or what is left of him.

The Minotaur resents it when his fur burns.

We will encounter the Minotaur when we turn our backs on the remains and jump over the chasms in front of which the golden thread ends. After that, we have to turn whenever we find skulls impaled on the edge. On the way we still have to overcome some obvious obstacles.

Here, too, ranged combat is a good idea, of course, and with enough arrows in the quiver, the Minotaur is already as good as defeated. Moreover, we can definitely face him in Assassin's Creed Odyssey in close combat, since he doesn't whirl us through the air like a puppet.

4. Artifact: How do I capture the treasure of Medusa on Lesbos?

At the bottom of the mystical creatures' hit list is the Medusa. The snake-headed one lurks on the island of Lesbos in the northeast of the map. Before we are allowed to face her, we have to fulfill some tasks again. The daughter of Artemis, Bryce, has lost her friend Ligeia and we have to help her rescue her.

The Medusa's gaze will petrify you if you are not careful.

Once we've done that, we get the key to the petrified temple and face Medusa there. Whether you use melee or ranged combat against her is basically up to you.

However, we recommend using a bow and arrow here as well, since Medusa 's gaze will turn you into stone, slowing down your movements for a few seconds.

Therefore, use the cover options that Assassin's Creed Odyssey offers you and fight Medusa from a distance. The additional enemies she calls for help from time to time don't last much - but are annoying if they aren't dealt with quickly.

Sealing Atlantis

After we finish off all four mystical creatures, we return to Atlantis with the artifacts. If we put them into the corresponding steals, recordings of Altheia will be played, which belongs to the First Civilization and is kept very cryptic, typical for Assassin's Creed.

If all sides of the pyramid are illuminated, Atlantis can be sealed.

When all four artifacts have been used, we must convince Pythagoras to hand over the Staff of Hermes Trismegistos. This is the key to sealing the lost city, but the staff has also kept the genius head alive for about 150 years.

In the end, however, he realizes that he must make this sacrifice for the good of all, and the staff passes into our possession. After we have locked the lost city in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, we are automatically brought to the present and slip back into the role of Layla.
