Cyberpunk 2077 playtime: How long are the main story & extras?

In our Cyberpunk 2077 playtime guide you will learn:

  • How many game hours the main story devours
  • How long you need to play the side quests
  • How you can see your required game time

Cyberpunk 2077 didn't make it into our list of the best time-consuming games without reason. How long your trip to Night City will ultimately take, however, depends heavily on your play style. While the main story is relatively short for a role-playing game , you can spend countless hours with side missions, extras or exploring the huge open world.

We'll tell you how much Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay time you should really expect in our guide.

Cyberpunk 2077 game time: How long are main story & side missions?

If you devote yourself exclusively to the main story of Cyberpunk 2077, then the game time is relatively short at 15 to 25 hours. However, it is important to note that the main and side quests of the role-playing game are not strictly separated from each other. Consequently, it can happen that you have to invest several hours in a side quest to unlock a new section of the main story.

If you only complete side quests that expand and advance the main story through their own story, expect to spend around 20 to 30 hours of additional gameplay time. To reach all five endings in Cyberpunk 2077, you'll add another 10 to 20 hours - assuming you save saves before important decision points.

However, what makes Cyberpunk 2077 a real time-eater are the countless events and extras that are waiting for you at every other street corner. If you want to unlock all the vehicles, eliminate gangs, pursue NCPD crimes and lose yourself in the detailed scenery every now and then, you'll easily spend 150 to 200 hours playing Night City. And even then you'll still come across new surprises or Easter Eggs.

Furthermore, there are a few quests and dialog options that are exclusive to Vs Three Ways of Life. As a result, you'll have to play through Cyberpunk 2077 at least three times (once per life path) to really get all the content of the dystopian role-playing game. However, we do not recommend this, as the differences in the gameplay experience are minimal and hardly justify the additional Cyberpunk 2077 playtime required.

Cyberpunk 2077 Platinum Playtime vs. Speedrun through Night City

To unlock all the trophies and achievements in Cyberpunk 2077, it's best to take a few days off. If you are clever and create savegames at strategically favorable points, the platinum game time is around 60-80 hours. Otherwise, the trophy collectors among you will have to reckon with a playing time of at least 100 hours - thanks to the 13 missable achievements.

But there is another way: The fastest speedrunners master the role-playing game in a playing time of less than three hours. The current Cyberpunk 2077 speedrun world record is held by the Youtuber Cold Cypher - he only needed 2 hours, 33 minutes and 25 seconds for his fastest run so far.
