If you're still looking for multiplayer tips, we recommend you take a look at our Halo Infinite tips guide.

How do I train with the weapons in Halo Infinite?

The selection of different weapons is large. And some of the weapons are worlds apart in terms of handling. For a successful Spartan career, you need to have a good knack for each gun.

Play the weapon drills in the training academy. These are challenges where you kill as many bots as possible in a small window of time. During the weapon drills you will learn the firing behavior as well as the reload speed of the weapons and get a first impression of the firepower.

During the weapon drills you will get to know each weapon better.

There are three weapon drills per weapon. In the first drill, the bots spawn but stay in one place. In the second drill, they move from side to side. In the third weapon drill, they also duck and change direction more often and faster. This makes the high score hunt harder, but the point is to train you in using the weapons against real players.

Play training matches against bots. The bots will also shoot back, so it's a perfect way to practice for multiplayer.

Weapon categories in Halo Infinite

There are three factions: the UNSC, the Exiles and the Blood Fathers. All three have their own arsenal of weapons. Standard bullets like shotguns or sniper rifles are always present in at least two factions. However, due to technological differences, all weapons have a faction-specific quirk.

UNSC weapons

The UNSC is the human faction in Halo. UNSC weapons, with a few exceptions, are standard weapons as we know them from the military in the real world: Assault rifles, shotguns, semi-automatic rifles and so on. Most UNSC weapons are hitscan-based - meaning that the bullets do not come directly from the weapon and are "projected" onto the target lying in the crosshairs.

Banished Weapons

The Exiles are a new alien faction, replacing the Alliance of previous games. Their arsenal is made up of Alliance classics like the Needle Launcher as well as crude metal weapons from the Brute race.

Banished weapons are all projectile-based. This means that bullets are fired from the weapon and must first travel a physical distance before arriving at their target.

Bloodfather Weapons

The Blood Fathers make up the third faction. Their weapons are all projectile-based as well. There are only three weapons based on Bloodfather technology. However, they are also extremely powerful.

Assault rifles in Halo Infinite

There are three assault rifles in Halo Infinite.

Assault Rifle MA40

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing mode: Full auto

The MA40 assault rifle is the starting weapon of all Halo gamers. It holds 36 bullets in the magazine and is designed for close range fights. For mid-range fights, it can only be used in Smart-Link mode (Halo Infinites version of Kimme & Korn). For that, the recoil is much more noticeable in Smart-Link.

The MA40 is one of the classics of the Halo series.

Do not underestimate the MA40. It offers balanced values in the areas of damage, recoil, magazine size and reload speed. And that's what makes it a perfect all-purpose weapon. Only in ranged combat it is outclassed by other weapons.

BR75

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing mode: Fire burst

The BR75 takes up where the MA40's usefulness ends: Ranged Combat. It fires only in three-bullet bursts. This makes for a lower rate of fire than the assault rifle, but the BR75 makes up for it with more robust firepower.

The BR75 comes with a sight.

The scope allows you to aim at an enemy's head with greater accuracy. Just four volleys to the head are enough to take out a Spartan. However, it's not really useful in close combat, unless you're permanently hitting the head.

VK78

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing mode: Single shot | Full auto

The VK78 is a link between the MA40 assault rifle and the DMR from Halo 4. With only 20 bullets, it has a rather small magazine. The rate of fire is also slower than conventional assault rifles. But the VK78 makes up for these shortcomings with decent firepower - just seven hits to the head are enough to kill a Spartan.

The commando is a mixture of assault rifle and sniper rifle.

Fire single shots so that the aiming accuracy doesn't go down the drain due to the strong recoil behavior. Medium-range combat is the VK78's area of application.

Impulse carbine

  • Faction: Banished
  • Firing mode: Fire burst

The pulse carbine fires five plasma projectiles per burst off. These move comparatively slowly, but have the tracking ability. The plasma projectiles don't follow enemies directly, but if an enemy is roughly in your crosshairs, the bullets will target them. Think of it like a slightly more powerful Aim Assist.

This rifle is only useful at close to medium range.

This rifle does not need to be reloaded, but it overheats after five fire bursts in direct succession. Therefore, the pulse rifle is not very useful in close combat - especially because the projectiles have to fly to the target first. So it's quite easy for enemies to dodge your projectiles at close range.

Semi-automatic rifles in Halo Infinite

There are two semi-automatic rifles in Halo Infinite.

Shock Rifle

  • Faction: Exiled
  • Firing mode: Single shot

A semi-automatic rifle designed for long-range firefights. It only holds four rounds per magazine, but in return the shock rifle fires electrifying bolts of lightning. Three hits and the enemy is history.

The electric beam has a long range.

The lightning projectiles jump to targets in the immediate vicinity on impact. Thus, it causes area-wide damage at medium to far distances. Only the rate of fire leaves something to be desired: The shock rifle always needs a second to recharge between shots. Also useful: The shock rifle can disable vehicles for a short time.

Stalking Rifle

  • Faction: Banished
  • Firing mode: Single shot

The stalking rifle is a slow-firing long-range weapon. The slow rate of fire is compensated with a fair amount of firepower: Just three hits to the head are enough for the kill. To compensate for the high damage values, it already overheats after seven shots. So cool it down before you reach this limit, because it takes several seconds to fully cool down.

Shotguns in Halo Infinite

There are two shotguns in Halo Infinite.

CQS48 Bulldog

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing mode: Pump action

The Bulldog is a fast-firing pump-action shotgun with a seven-round drum magazine, which makes reloading much faster overall.

Unfortunately, the Bulldog cannot eliminate enemy Spartans with one shot, even at close range. To compensate, it has a much longer range. This rifle is best suited for two-piece tactics: Shoot an enemy once at close range to take out its shield, then kill it with a melee strike.

Heatwave

  • Faction: Blood Fathers
  • Fire mode: Single shot

The Heatwave is a semi-automatic Bloodfather shotgun that fires six projectiles in a horizontal or vertical line. It holds eight rounds per magazine. At close range, the weapon works best; at medium to far range, the projectiles spread out too much to do adequate damage.

Heatwave projectiles even bounce off players.

Projectiles bounce off surfaces and enemy players. To switch from horizontal to vertical shooting mode, press the Smart Link button once.

Sniper rifles in Halo Infinite

There are two sniper rifles in Halo Infinite.

Sniper Rifle S7

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing mode: Single shot

The S7 sniper rifle holds four rounds per magazine. One shot to the head or two hits to the body are enough to kill an enemy player. The rate of fire is quite high, so you can get two body hits on a moving target fairly easily.

Skewer

  • Faction: Exiled
  • Shooting Mode:

The Skewer is a brute version of a sniper rifle that can even pierce vehicles. A direct hit is enough to kill an enemy. Since the Skewer can only fire one shot per load, you'll need to place your shots precisely.

The powerful Skewer kills everything with just one shot.

It doesn't matter if you hit the body, the leg or the head. Anyone who even gets clipped by the spear is history.

Pistols in Halo Infinite

There are four pistols in Halo Infinite.

Mk50 Sidekick

All players:inside start with the Mk50 Sidekick as their secondary weapon. It holds 12 rounds per magazine. Seven shots to the head or ten shots to the body are enough to kill an enemy player. Switch to the MK50 if you run out of ammo in a firefight. By the time you reload, you will be dead.

Disruptor

The Disruptor electrocutes enemy players, inflicting electrical damage over time. It takes seven shots to the head and ten shots to the body to kill an enemy player. However, because of the persistent electrodamage, enemies will die even if you hit them more than six times with the disruptor.

Plasma Pistol

  • Faction: Banished
  • Firing mode: Single shot | Charged shot

The Plasma Pistol fires green projectiles that reach their target quickly but do little damage. But: you can charge it up, and fire an EMP shot that instantly destroys the enemy's shield. Unlike in older Halo games, the plasma pistol is no longer capable of disabling vehicles.

Mangler

  • Faction: Banished
  • Firing mode: Single shot

A revolver with eight rounds per magazine. Skill is required with this weapon, but you'll be rewarded with high hit accuracy. Three shots to the head or four shots to the body are enough to kill an enemy player. You can also break through the shield with just two shots.

The Mangler is a brute version of a revolver.

The disadvantage of the Mangler is its rather slow rate of fire. Because of this, this revolver is absolutely unsuitable for close combat.

Rocket and projectile launchers in Halo Infinite

There is one rocket launcher and four project ile launchers in Halo Infinite.

M41 SPNKR Missile Launcher

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing mode: Single shot

The double-barreled rocket launcher returns. You can shoot two missiles before being forced to reload. The missiles have a large blast radius, but relatively low velocity and a relatively small area of effect. However, with a well-aimed direct hit you will destroy any vehicle.

Hydra

  • Faction: UNSC
  • Firing Mode:

The Hydra can be used in two modes: The regular firing mode and the tracking mode, which you activate via the Smart Link function. In regular firing mode, it fires particularly fast microrockets. In the alternative tracking mode, the Hydra sights a target itself and then fires homing missiles.

The Hydra also fires homing tracker missiles.

The microrockets are more powerful than tracking missiles. With normal missiles you need about three direct hits to take out a Spartan, while with the tracking missiles it must be four direct hits.

Needle Launcher

  • Faction: Exiled
  • Firing mode: Fully automatic

The needle launcher has a 26-round magazine and fires its needles incredibly fast. The homing function is activated as soon as the crosshairs turn a red color. If several needles hit a target, this leads to a pink explosion.

At medium and far range, the needle launcher is overshadowed by the other weapons. But in close combat, it remains a powerful tool.

Destroyer

  • Faction: Banished
  • Firing mode: Fire burst

The Destroyer fires volleys of exploding plasma balls. Each time the trigger is pulled, the Destroyer fires a volley of three red plasma balls that arc and explode on impact. Two direct hits are enough to take down a Spartan. Hold down the trigger to fire a charged plasma ball instead, which also leaves a burning puddle on the ground after the explosion.

With the destroyer, you set the battlefield ablaze.

The charged shot is great for controlling smaller areas like a narrow hallway for a few seconds. However, the destroyer overheats quite quickly. Cool down the weapon after two or three volleys with the reload button.

Cindershot

  • Faction: Blood Fathers
  • Firing mode: Single shot

The Cindershot is a Bloodfathers grenade launcher with laser aiming function. The energy grenades first ricochet after firing when they hit a surface, and then explode into splinters. An excellent choice for killing enemies around corners. It also has an alternate fire mode that turns the grenades into laser-guided projectiles.

If you zoom in with the cindershot, you can control the trajectory of the projectiles.

When you fire a projectile in alternate fire mode, the project will fly where you aim with the crosshairs. And it can still bounce off then, too. Two direct hits are enough to take down an enemy Spartan.

Laser weapons in Halo Infinite

Currently there is only one laser weapon.

Guardian blaster

  • Faction: Bloodfathers
  • Firing mode: Laser beam

It deals quite a bit of damage, but has a strong recoil to compensate. Instead of magazines, the sentinel blaster has a limited supply of ammo that must be reloaded into the weapon. The longer the beam lasts, the more energy you'll have to reload. The beam can also penetrate targets. If you aim the beam perfectly, you can also damage multiple enemies at once.

Melee weapons in Halo Infinite

There are two melee weapons in Halo Infinite.

Particle Sword

  • Faction: Banished

A single slash kills enemies instantly, but you need to be close to the target to do so. As soon as you set to attack and are only one to two meters away from your target, your Spartan will automatically jump towards the target. In combination with the grappling hook, the particle sword becomes a powerful weapon. As soon as you use the grappling hook to pull yourself towards a Spartan, your character will automatically strike with the particle sword.

Gravity Hammer

  • Faction: Banished

The Gravity Hammer is much slower to swing than the sword and requires better timing to use effectively. It also doesn't have much of a lunge, but to compensate, its area of effect is much larger.

With the gravity hammer, you'll even destroy vehicles with just one hit.

One hit with the hammer is already enough for the kill. But for that you really have to have the opponent in front of you and hit him directly.
