FIFA 19 for beginners: How Squad Building Challenges work

In order to have the best possible team for the Ultimate Team mode, you can earn a lot of additional rewards and FIFA coins with the Squad Building Challenges (SBCs for short).

What are Squad Building Challenges?

SBCs are small team challenges that EA Sports offers to FIFA players. The goal is to build a squad for the Ultimate Team mode. In each challenge, certain criteria must be met before it can be completed.

These specifications are quite different: from a minimum team chemistry value to a prescribed nationality of the player cards, everything can be required. Especially for new players, Squad Building Challenges are a great way to get a feel for building a squad.

Some Squad Building Challenges reward you with rare player cards.

To complete the SBCs, you'll need to use player cards from your own inventory. But beware: when you complete the challenge, the items that were used will be exchanged for the reward. So don't use the best players to solve the challenges.

It's a good way to exchange cards you no longer need for better rewards like packs or FIFA coins.

Another advantage is that players who are not tradable on the transfer market can also be used to solve SBCs. There are several types of challenges with different difficulty levels.

We recommend completing the beginner, league and hybrid SBCs as soon as possible. The bonuses you get are a good improvement for your starter team, especially when you're new to FIFA 19.

Insider tip: You can also complete SBCs via the Companion App on your smartphone or tablet.

In addition to the standard challenges, there are always so-called live SBCs that are only available for a certain period of time. If you manage to solve them in time, you can look forward to good cards. Keep an eye on the FIFA Ultimate Team Facebook page. New challenges will be announced there regularly.

Tips and tricks around the Squad Building Challenges

With the SBCs it is of great importance to keep an eye on the ratio of rewards and traded cards. Basically, completing the challenges should never be a losing proposition. So if you feel that the reward of a task is too low, skip it or try to complete the challenge with other, cheaper cards.

All over the world, FIFA players are trying to figure out the cheapest and best solution for squad building challenges. They like to publish them on FIFA websites like futbin or futhead. There you can find good tips and solutions in case you have problems with some challenges.

Pro tip: Especially live SBCs offer you a good opportunity to earn FIFA coins quickly. To solve them you often need certain cards, which increase in price significantly during the live challenge on the transfer market. So if there is a SBC to German Silver players, we recommend to wait for a favorable moment and then sell German Silver cards profitably on the transfer market.
