Outriders Expeditions: The most important things at a glance

After completing the Outriders campaign, you will gradually unlock a total of 14 expeditions. Here is the most important information about the endgame in a nutshell:

  • Expeditions are short missions that you can take on alone or in a team with up to three players.
  • The goal is always to get from the start of the mission to the landing capsule at the end, killing all enemies along the way.
  • Typically, an expedition consists of three to four short level sections and sometimes a boss fight at the end.
  • You only get loot from the landing capsule at the end of expeditions, not from enemies. In addition to weapons and armor, you'll receive landing capsule resources - the end-game currency of Outriders.

That's the way to do it! Outriders is not stingy with loot.

  • Thefaster you complete an expedition, the more numerous and potentially valuable the loot in the landing capsule. There are three gradations here: Gold Rank, Silver Rank, and Bronze Rank. The times you must beat for each rank vary from expedition to expedition.
  • If you die, the expedition fails and you have to start over. Exception: If you play in a team, you can revive each other as long as at least one player is still alive.
  • The difficulty of the expeditions as well as the value of the loot are controlled by a system of challenge ranks. This is independent of the world level system that controls the difficulty in the campaign.

Outriders: Unlock & start expeditions

To unlock expeditions in Outriders, you need to finish the game's story campaign. It doesn't matter on which world level you do this. You will find yourself in a new camp in the desert after the final battle, and you will have a new mission objective called "Collect the Landing Pod Resources". Go to the new desk in your camp and select an expedition here.

Once you have leveled up your character to the maximum level of 30, you can also start expeditions from the lobby and join a random team. Click on "Random Team" and then on "Expeditions". Now wait for the game to connect you and confirm joining the game.

At the Expeditions table, select your next mission.

If you have just unlocked the Endgame, you can only play three expeditions. To unlock the remaining eleven, increase your challenge rank. At the beginning, you'll unlock more missions with each completed expedition. Later, there will be expeditions that require you to have a certain minimum rank. To start them, you'll also have to invest a certain amount of landing capsule resources.

  • "Palace of Drought" (unlocked at rank 4)
  • "Colosseum" (unlocked at rank 8)
  • "Land of Drought" (unlocked at rank 12)
  • "Eye of the Storm" (unlocked at rank 15)

The most difficult expeditions have a starting fee in the form of landing capsule resources.

Outriders: How challenge ranks work in the endgame

The challenge rank controls what level enemies and loot are in the selected expedition. The higher your highest unlocked challenge rank, the higher the possible level of gear you can wear - up to the maximum level of 50 for enemies and items at rank 15. The world level system therefore becomes irrelevant after the story campaign .

Challenge ranks, in addition to enemy and equipment level, also control how likely you are to find certain loot. Particularly important: From challenge rank 6, the probability of finding legendary items increases gradually - initially by a moderate 0.75 percent at rank 6, by 6 percent at rank 10, and by a full 25 percent at rank 15.

To unlock new challenge ranks, you'll need to play expeditions at your highest unlocked rank. The faster you are, the more ranks you unlock: completing an expedition at the Gold rank unlocks three additional ranks. Silver will earn you two more ranks, and Bronze will earn you one more rank.

Endgame tips & the best endgame expeditions for good loot

Basically, you should first play all possible expeditions in the endgame to familiarize yourself with the system. If you want to farm loot specifically, expeditions that you can run through as easily as possible as quickly as possible are a good choice. The following expeditions are particularly well suited for this:

  • "Chemical Factory
  • "Star Tomb
  • "The Bows of Enoch

The expeditions you have to choose from at the planning table rotate - so you can't necessarily always choose a specific mission. Travel to a camp in another area to reshuffle the available expeditions.

You will only ever see a selection of expeditions in the map screen.

A few tips for the expeditions:

  • For maximum yield, always play at the highest possible challenge rank and always try to finish with gold rank.
  • Play as a team if possible - the endgame is hard to master solo, and even if you manage to complete an expedition alone, you'll probably be quite slow. Also, as a team you can resurrect each other and get one free resurrection per person. You don't have either of these advantages as a solo player.
  • Play character builds that rely on as much damage per second (DPS) as possible. Support characters or healers are also handy, but will ultimately slow you down. Your goal must be to kill all enemies as quickly as possible - at any cost!

Expeditions are designed for teamwork.

  • Save your landing capsule resources first, use them to buy legendary equipment from Tiago, and don't invest them too often in the hardest four expeditions. Later, when you are well equipped and have reached almost all challenge ranks, you can still tackle the final missions.
  • If you fail: remember to collect the box with the consolation loot! You'll get some loot even if you don't make it to the landing capsule. The chest is in the area before the expedition start if you try again right away, or in your camp if you abandon the attempt. If you are not strong enough yet, this is a good way to get better equipment quickly.
