Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds: All Weapons & Armor

In this guide to Horizon Zero Dawn you will learn:

  • What new weapons and armor are available in The Frozen Wilds
  • How to get the new equipment
  • What bonuses the equipment offers

If you want to find out about all the new weapons as well as outfits for Aloy before the start of the DLC "The Frozen Wilds", you've come to the right place.

By the way, to trade with the Banuk vendors they have on offer, you will need certain materials in some cases. In our blue shine guide for Horizon Zero Dawn, you can find out where to find this rare raw material.

What weapons are available in The Frozen Wilds?

A total of six new weapons await you in the only story expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn, and you'll need them urgently in the fight against the machines in the DLC. You can find out how to defeat them in our guide to the machines in The Frozen Wilds.

By the way, you can get three of these weapons (Banuk Ice Thorn, Forge Fire, Banuk Storm Sling) without Blue Shine and by completing quests in The Frozen Wilds. Therefore, if you are short of metal shards or other resources, be careful before making your purchase.

Banuk Ice Thorn

This ice thrower is especially effective against Versenger or Frost Claw. However, when Aloy attacks with it, make sure you get as close to machines as possible.

The Banuk Ice Thorn is especially good against Versenger or Frost Claw.

This is because the Banuk Ice Spike works best at close range. To pin down robots, it's best to use a rope thrower in the Horizon Zero Dawn story DLC.

Forge Fire

Just like the previous weapon, Forge Fire works best at close range.

Forge fire works like a flamethrower.

If you want to use this flamethrower to deal massive damage to Frostclaw, it's best to use a rope thrower again to immobilize the machine first.

Banuk Storm Sling

With the Banuk slingshot you cause shock damage to the machines. The more often you attack with this new weapon, the more devastating the attacks will be.

The Banuk slingshot causes shock damage with its lightning bolts.

Like all other weapons, the Banuk Storm Sling can be upgraded to do even more damage.

Banuk Champion Bow

To acquire this weapon, you need to bring 12 units of blue luster. As usual, arrow shots with the Banuk Champion Bow recharge when Aloy aims with it for a longer time in the DLC.

With the Banuk Champion Bow you can shoot various elemental arrows.

If you buy this weapon, you will have new options for shooting elemental damage. Ammunition for the Banuk Champion Bow consists of Shock, Corruption, and Ice arrows. The latter are ideal for battles against Fire Claw as well as Scorchers.

Banuk Power Shot Bow

you will need14 times of blue shine to purchase this weapon. However, with loot arrows, precision arrows and blaster arrows, it doesn't offer anything new. You already know this ammunition from the main game Horizon Zero Dawn.

Tighten the string of the Banuk Powershot bow longer to deal more damage.

The Banuk Powershot Bow is still stronger, and the longer you tighten the string, the more damage the shot will cause.

Banuk Slaughterer Bow

Merchants in the DLC area "The Cut" demand 16 times blue shine in exchange for the Banuk Butcher Bow.

The Banuk Butcher Bow is the most expensive new firearm and impresses with increased damage.

Similar to the previous weapon, this one doesn't bring any new ammo types to the game. Better stats and higher damage with longer string tension are once again selling points.

What armors are available in The Frozen Wilds?

The merchants in the Horizon Zero Dawn story DLC offer a total of four new outfits for Aloy, three of which require certain amounts of blue shine. Other new armors can be obtained by completing quests.

Banuk Werak Messenger

This is the only outfit for which the Banuk merchants do not want to see any blue luster in the "cut".

The Banuk-Werak-Botin outfit regenerates Aloy's life bar over time.

It's useful, though, because it gradually regenerates Aloy's life bar.

Banuk Ice Huntress (Master)

14 pieces of blue shine go into the merchants' coffers for this armor. As the name suggests, it is made in the colorful Banuk style and offers protection against ice damage in particular.

This armor is especially useful against machines that cause ice damage.

You are ideally protected against Grey Goshawk and Frost Claw with the Banuk Ice Hunter.

Carja Fire Emblem (Pro)

Against Scorchers or Fire Claw, equip Aloy with this outfit that protects her from fire damage.

The Carja Fire Emblem armor protects you from fire damage.

In exchange for the Carja Fire Emblem, you can buy 16 units of Blue Luster from your favorite merchant in The Frozen Wilds.

Silent Nora Hunter (Pro)

Do you like to sneak through the icy wilderness? Then this armor is just right for you - provided you can get 18 pieces of blue sh ine.

This outfit will let you sneak past machines unknown to you.

Thanks to it, Aloy moves much quieter and enjoys better camouflage from machines.
