Need for Speed Payback Plymouth Barracuda: Find decommissioned cars & distinguish them from wrecks

Apart from the car wrecks, whose parts are scattered all over the open world of Need for Speed Payback, there are also decommissioned cars to be found in the game world. Although they sound similar, you shouldn't confuse these speedsters in any case.

Update 30.01.2018: Plymouth Barracuda

After the BMW M3 Evolution II E30 disappeared from the Need for Speed Payback game world again, the developers have revealed and hidden the next car: the Plymouth Barracuda.

According to the description in the tweet embedded above, you can find the Plymouth Barracuda in the west of the game world. So head towards Mount Providence and there near the Newhaven Cabins.

These are located in the forest and you can find the way with the help of signs in the game world. The following map shows you where exactly you can find the Plymouth Barracuda:

Update 23.01.2018: BMW M3 Evolution II E30

With the BMW M3 Evolution II E30 a new decommissioned car is hidden in Need for Speed Payback. You can find this one until January 30, 2018 at 1am and add it to your collection.

You can find it by driving to the mountain village in the west of the map (Braxton). The car is hidden in the village right next to a garage, so you can easily get there via fast travel.

Update 09.01.2018, 8:30 a.m.: Volvo Amazon P130

After the first immobilized car, the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R, is already no longer in the game, the developers have unlocked the next one in Need for Speed Payback: the Volvo Amazon P130.

What decommissioned cars are there?

Since the release of the first major content update for Need for Speed Payback on December 19, 2017, the decommissioned cars have been part of the game. On the official website, the full list of models is as follows:

  • Mazda RX-7 Spirit R (currently no longer available)
  • Volvo 242DL (currently no longer available)
  • Volvo Amazon P130 (currently no longer available)
  • Plymouth Barracuda (available in the game since January 30, 2018)
  • Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR (not yet available)
  • BMW M3 Evolution II E30 (currently no longer available)

Find decommissioned cars

Unlike the wrecks in Need for Speed Payback, you don't have to reassemble the decommissioned cars from individual parts before you can race them over the asphalt.

However, these vehicles are only in the game for a short time, and you'll also have to survive a chase with the police if you want them to become part of your fleet.

The first candidate for this treasure hunt was the Mazda RX-7 Spiritin the meantime, however, it can no longer be found in Fortune Valley in Need for Speed Payback. It is currently not clear when the next abandoned car will appear.

However, the official Twitter account of the action-packed racing game will publish corresponding tweets when the time comes again.

As an example, we have included the post that marked the start of the search for the Mazda RX-7 Spirit.

Additionally, keep an eye out for a blue marker on the right edge of the map. Along with a logo that shows a crowbar, information about the most current immobilized car in Need for Speed Payback appears there.

It appears when you are near the car and tells you how long the car will be waiting for you to discover it before it disappears from Need for Speed Payback again.

Get abandoned cars

If you get behind the wheel of the car, "only" a chase with the police separates you from the new vehicle, in which you must not be caught under any circumstances. Once you've escaped from the cops, deliver the decommissioned car to Rav at the airfield garage.

Afterwards, hot cars like the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R are yours, but they are also available for purchase at all car stores in the game.
