Crash Bandicoot 4: Find colorful gems - All locations

In this Crash Bandicoot 4 guide you can read:

  • How to find the four colored ge ms
  • What effect these four gems have
  • In which levels you can use the four gems

Besides the hidden clear gems in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, there are also four colored gems to find. These are partially tied to small puzzles, which we'll explain to you here. For finding the Gems you get the secret trophies: Sapphire Collector, Emerald Hunt, Ruby Red and Topaz Fun. All other achievements can be found in our trophy guide for Crash Bandicoot 4.

Crash Bandicoot 4: Colored gems - What effect do they have?

Each of the four colored gems activates platforms in the respective color, which open up new paths and secret areas in some levels. In some stages you need the colored gems to find all the crates or wumpa fruits. Such a mechanic already existed in the previous parts included in the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane trilogy ().

Also, in the Toxic Tunnel level, located in the final Crash Bandicoot 4 Dimension Cortex Island, you will need all four colored gems to open the big gate with the "N".

Sapphire Collector Trophy: How do I get the blue gem?

The blue sapphire is at the very end of the level climbing in the Fried Falls world. What makes it special, however, is that you have to make it to the end of the level without destroying a single crate. This also applies to the checkpoint crates, which of course makes this challenge even more difficult.

If you make it to the end of the level without destroying any crates, the blue gem will appear.

A tip to make your hunt for the blue sapphire easier: If you die inside the question mark stage, you will respawn there without destroying a checkpoint crate.

At this point, you can respawn without destroying a crate.

This way, you can restart every attempt from the middle of the climbing level and more easily secure the blue gem in Crash Bandicoot 4. Be careful not to accidentally destroy a checkpoint crate, though, or you'll have to start all over again.

Sapphire Bonus Stage - Where can I use the blue gem?

Once you have the blue sapphire, you can enter the bonus stage in the Crash Landing level, which is located in the eighth dimension Bermugula's Orbit.

The entrance to the blue gem bonus level is right after the mount section, once you've mastered the mountain with the flying turtles. Unlike in the question mark bonus stages, your deaths count in the gemstone stages.

Emerald Hunt Trophy: Where can I find the green gem?

The green emerald is located in the Road Trip level of the Dangerous Wasteland dimension of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. Go to the section at the end when you flee from the truck. In the middle of the chase there is a break with a checkpoint and a nitro crate. The green gem is in the nitro crate.

The green emerald is in the destroyed nitro crate.

Crash Bandicoot 4 emerald chase: the remote control, the car and the nitro crate in the Road Trip level.

If you make it to the end of the Road Trip level with the green gem, you will receive the Emerald Hunt Trophy.

Use the whirl attack on the trash cans until a remote control falls out. Now use the whirl attack several times on the remote, which moves a remote-controlled car, which then drives into the nitro crate and reveals the emerald for you.

If we died after this checkpoint and only tried to use the remote afterwards, the radio-controlled car didn't show up for us. Currently, it is unclear whether this is a bug or if it is intentional. In any case, make sure you get the emerald on your first visit, otherwise you'll have to restart the level.

Emerald Bonus Stage - In which level can you use the green gem?

With the green emerald, you can play the bonus stage in the Jetboard Jetty level in Salty Wharf World to get all the crates and wumpas.

Here is the entrance to the bonus stage that you unlock with the emerald.

This is the bonus level that you unlock with the green emerald.

The entrance to the bonus stage is right after the second jet ski part, on the right side.

Ruby Red Trophy: Where is the location of the red gem?

You can find the red ruby already in the second level N.Sanity Peak, at the nine platforms right before the first Quantum Mask in Crash Bandicoot 4.

This is the location of the red ruby in Crash Bandicoot 4.

In order for the red gem to appear, you must jump onto the nine platforms in the following order:

  1. Bottom-Left
  2. Down-Center
  3. Bottom-Right
  4. Middle-Right
  5. Top-Right
  6. Top-Center
  7. Top-Left
  8. Center-Left
  9. Center-Center

If you did it right, the red gem will appear and you will get the secret trophy Ruby Red.

This is the clue to the red gem in Crash Bandicoot 4: It''s About Time.

You would have found a clue on how to solve this puzzle to the right of the gate to the room with the platforms and the Quantum Mask. There is a drawing with the sequence described here.

Ruby Bonus Stage: In which level do I use the red gem?

With the red gem in your possession, you can get all the crates in the Crash Press level of the Dangerous Wasteland World.

Here is the entrance to the Ruby Bonus Stage in Crash Press.

The entrance to the Ruby Bonus Stage is right before the start of the slide section on the pipes.

Topaz Fun Trophy: In which level is the yellow gem hidden?

The yellow topaz in Crash Bandicoot 4 is right at the start of the Swampy Fun level of the Mosquito Swamp world. Instead of using the jet ski, you will have to jump over the floating crates on the right.

Follow the path over the floating crates on the right and then left to the yellow gem.

Jump on the crates and hold the jump button to collect the yellow gem.

Then follow the platforms until you find four crates on the left side with the yellow gem floating in the air above them. You will get the topaz fun trophy after you finish the level.

Where can I use the yellow gem?

Once you have the topaz, you will unlock another bonus stage in the Evil Driven level of the wintry 11th Dimension world. The entrance to the bonus stage is after the passage with the rotating platforms, just before the checkpoint box.

This is the entrance to the yellow Topaz level.

The Topaz Stage is reminiscent of the iconic Crash Bandicoot bridge level.
