How do I unlock secret gifts in Pokémon Shining Pearl & Shining Diamond?

Secret gifts cannot be accessed from the beginning in Pokémon Shining Pearl & Shining Diamond. You must first unlock the associated option. There are two ways to do this:

Travel to Jubelstadt: After about two hours of gameplay, you should reach Jubelstadt. Enter the building of the TV station Jubelstadt-TV and go to the second floor. There you will see a man with glasses. Talk to the TV producer and answer the question about your favorite TV show with "All Happy WiFi Connection".
Defeat Arena Leader Hilda in Schleieide. After the successful fight against Hilda, you will receive the third medal. The "Secret Gift" button will automatically pop up in the options menu afterwards.

There are currently two free gifts to choose from in Pokémon Shining Pearl & Shining Diamond: a fashion item gift and the Manaphy Egg. If you choose the egg, you will find it in one of your Pokémon boxes. To hatch it, you'll need to carry the egg on your team and walk or bike a lot of steps. Eventually, the Pokémon will hatch. If you choose the fashion item, you will receive the platinum outfit. Travel to Schleieide and go to the store "Modewelt Metronom". There you can change your clothes.

How do I get the mysterious Pokémon Phione?

Once you have hatched Manaphy, you can use it to add another mysterious Pokémon to your team. In addition to Manaphy, you also need the Pokémon Ditto. Once you have them, travel to the city of Trostu and visit the Pokémon Hoard there. Return the two Pokémon to the attendant at the counter.

You will have to pay 500 Poké dollars per Pokémon, but they will be able to produce another egg. Visit the Pokémon Lair in Trostu again after a few days and, with a bit of luck, you'll find a Phione egg waiting for you. Carry it around like you did with the Manaphy Egg until the Pokémon hatches.
