Foreclosed: Tips & tricks for the cyberpunk adventure

In our tips guide to Foreclosed you will learn:

  • How to get an advantage in the battles
  • Which character upgrades are really worth it
  • How to deal with overheating
  • How to always find the right path

Foreclosed is an action-adventure game from Antab Studios that makes you feel like you've landed in an interactive comic book. Every still image and dialogue in the game, seems to come straight out of a graphic novel.

As the player, you take on the role of Evan Kapnos, a washed-up cop who finds himself caught up in a dangerous conspiracy. Your henchmen chase you through an appealing cyberpunk city and can only be defeated with brute force and powerful implants. In the following, we'll give you some useful tips that will be of great help in tricky situations.

How to master every battle

The battles in Foreclosed all take place in the third-person perspective. Unfortunately, there is no elaborate cover system in this game, as it is the case in other genre representatives. Thus, in most cases you'll find yourself behind some pillars and pieces of furniture to avoid enemy fire.

You'll always hit the bull's eye with the telekinesis bullets!

If you peek out from behind cover to dish it out yourself, you'll quickly run the risk of perishing - the enemies in Foreclosed are extremely precise and deadly. We've put together a few useful tips below that will be of great help to you in the battles.

Target settings: The camera in Foreclosed is extremely sensitive. If you are using the controller, you should definitely lower the sensitivity. Aiming only becomes much easier on the lowest settings. If you still have difficulties after that, it's also worth increasing the aiming support.

Headshots: The enemies in Foreclosed need a considerable amount of ammunition before they bite the dust. Especially on the highest difficulty level, you'll quickly be overwhelmed by the sheer mass of enemies. However, headshots kill the targets on the spot. Since you don't have to accept a deduction for your distance from the target, you should always aim for the head.

Using abilities generates heat. When the gauge is full, you die instantly.

Firing modes: If you hold down the designated shoot button, you will fire continuously, but extremely slowly. Quickly tapping the corresponding button will greatly increase the cadence. With this method, you can even save a weapon upgrade later in the game, which increases your rate of fire while holding down the button.

How to always find the right path

Between battles, you'll have to unlock new level sections. At the end, you'll often find yourself in front of a locked door or a powerless elevator that prevents you from moving on. Likewise, there are enemies that patrol the areas and must be avoided. In both cases, there are various ways to move forward.

Terminals are hacked using the directional keys.

A locked door can often be opened by pressing hidden buttons. Be sure to look for ventilation shafts, as they lead to the said buttons in most cases. The entrance to the shafts can be blocked by barrels, which you can easily clear away with your telekinesis.

If it's not buttons you need to find, it's most likely power lines to expose. The same principle applies here as with the data nodes. You will be shown a symbol that indicates the distance to the respective fuse. In most cases, three to four power lines have to be uncovered.

In these levels we have to avoid drones and unlock power lines.

In the stealth sections, you'll be much faster if you're rolling. This way you can quickly dart from cover to cover without being detected. If human enemies block your way, you can overheat their implants by sneaking up behind them and pressing the appropriate button.

You have to sneak around turrets that have been set up. Watch out for the light cones and hack the turrets at the back to permanently disable them. Flying drones can even be surrounded - there are no restrictions on your movement speed here.

Character improvements and experience points

In Foreclosed, there are two types of enhancements that make your character stronger. Improvement points are gained by eliminating enemies. Another, much more profitable source, is the hidden data nodes. When you are traveling in the game world, you may see a green icon appear in the upper left part of the screen.

Weapon enhancement overview.

The closer you are to the hidden node, the stronger the icon glows. That's why it's worth looking especially in the corners of the rather linear level passages, so as not to miss any data nodes. Each find is rewarded with a large amount of experience points. For enough points you'll in turn receive an improvement point, which you can use either to upgrade your weapon or to upgrade your implants.

All the powers you can unlock:

  • Create a mind shield that lasts for a limited time.
  • Create an energy field that reduces energy and stuns unarmored enemies in the area.
  • Create a mental barrier to temporarily imprison an enemy.
  • Drastically overheat your implants to create a powerful explosion.
  • Lift enemies, making them vulnerable to other attacks.
  • Hurl enemies to the ground.

All weapon upgrades at a glance:

  • Improve the rate of fire.
  • Bullets explode on impact.
  • Bullets can penetrate armor and helmets.
  • Bullets can penetrate energy shields.
  • Use telekinesis to automatically direct bullets at the target.
  • Reduce the heating of the implant when using forces

What should I spend my points on?

We especially recommend the weapon enhancement, which reduces the heating rate of your implants. This will allow you to use abilities more often and equip stronger enhancements. It is also worth packing armor-piercing ammunition. Since headshots are the most efficient, you'll be able to penetrate enemies' helmets with this improvement. Another powerful improvement is the telekinesis bullets. This can be used to shoot around obstacles to hit the enemy.
