What is the point of a mock battle duel?

For one thing, taunt duels in Assassin's Creed Valhalla are a nice way to pass the time, and they'll further boost your game time. Apart from the first duel in Fornburg, which is part of the main story, all other word battles are optional. More importantly, you can use the verbal battles to increase Eivor's Charisma value. The better his Charisma value is, the more likely he is to save your life in a dangerous situation.

The Charisma value will give you more response options when you meet other characters. If tensions arise between you, you can calm your counterpart down with a few of the right words. Or you can elicit some information from him or her that is actually top secret.

The rules of mocking are simple: your answer must rhyme and fit the theme.

What is the Mocking Contest about?

If you've played Monkey Island in the past, you're probably familiar with a taunt. It's about two characters having a battle of words, where one duelist's statement must be countered with a matching statement from the other.

If you want to try it yourself first, without using our solution: Make sure that your answer rhymes with your opponent's statement and that it is about the same topic. So you can proceed according to the exclusion principle: First look at which answer option does not rhyme and mentally cross it out. For the remaining two statements that both rhyme, only one fits thematically. Choose the correct answer three times and you will win the mockery contest.

And don't forget: If you defeat all opponents in the mocking match, you'll receive the "Mockingbird" achievement and also get a silver trophy or 30 Gamerscore.
