Battlefield 2042: All specialists & their abilities

In Battlefield 2042, the familiar class system gives way to so-called specialists, each equipped with their own ability and personal gadget. Weapons and equipment are no longer limited to certain classes, each specialist can also use any weapon.

All specialists at a glance

A total of ten different specialists have been available to you since the release of Battlefield 2042. These in turn are divided into four categories:

BF2042 Specialists: All Storm Soldiers

Sundance: Flying Storm Soldier

You can use Sundance's wings uit perfectly on the skyscrapers of the maps "Hourglass" and "Kaleidoscope" to cover long distances quickly. Once you have captured the point on the skyscraper in "Hourglass", you can fly to the next point in no time thanks to the wingsuit. But the wingsuit is also useful on flat maps without big skyscrapers or mountains like "Discarded" or "New Beginning", because you can jump from smaller hills and mountains and activate the wingsuit.

It's best to spawn in a helicopter whenever possible and jump out with the wingsuit. This way you can easily get behind enemy lines and surprise your opponents from behind.

Tip for flying with the wingsuit: Just hold your nose up to slow down and climb back up a bit, this way you can stay in the air almost indefinitely with the wingsuit.

Specialist Sundance has a wingsuit as a gadget instead of a parachute.

With the grenade belt, Sundance is equipped for almost any situation. When you select the special grenade, you can switch between three different types of g renades: the scatter grenade, which is strong against infantry, the anti-tank grenade, which is strong against vehicles, as well as the EMP grenade, which disables gadgets like guns.

You have a total of two of the grenades in your inventory. Which type you use is up to you. For example, you can throw two anti-tank g renades or one anti-tank grenade and one scatter grenade.

Dozer: melee specialist

Dozer's Ballistic Shield is especially powerful in tight indoor spaces, as you can use it to reflect enemy fire and finish off enemies with your melee attack as you run at them. Enemies will then naturally try to blast you out of the way with grenades, which is where Dozer's Explosion Resistance ability comes into play, reducing the explosion damage taken.

So if you're facing a Dozer with a shield, don't shoot the shield, as you'll only damage yourself.

Mackay: Battlefields Spider-Man

• You unlock Mackay at level 15.

Mackay's hook pistol is perfect for quickly escaping dicey situations or gaining a height advantage by pulling yourself up onto rooftops. With a little practice, you can even pull yourself up to helicopters.

You can also play Mackay very well as a sniper, since you can use the hook gun to get to places that are inaccessible to other specialists.

If you want to move fast, Mackay is the specialist for you.

All pioneers

Irish: Defensive Defender

In 1-on-1 combat, Irish is superior to the other specialists thanks to his extra armor. Because of the armor, Irish lends itself very well to Battlefield or shooter beginners, as you won't go down as quickly.

His mobile cover is perfect for giving you extra cover when taking or defending points. If you have enough cover, use the defense system instead: this way you'll be able to prevent enemies from smoking you out with grenades.

In combination with Boris, Irish forms the perfect defense team.

Boris: Gun expert

You like to play defensively? Then Boris is your specialist. The guard system can protect points from enemies. If you stay near the guard system (you'll see a circle around the gun), it shoots even more efficiently. In any case, we have been victims of an enemy gun ourselves several times.

If you want to move on, you can dismantle the gun bypressing a button and take it with you.

With his gun, Boris is best suited for defending positions.

Casper: Sniper & Supporter in one

Casper's drone is especially a great help for the team, as you can use it to mark enemies on the battlefield for your comrades. Its motion sensor warns you of approaching enemies. Perfect, then, if you're a sniper on the lookout.

If you fly the drone close enough to enemy vehicles, you can unlock it and detonate an EMP that will disable the vehicles.

Bonus trick: You can attach C5 explosives to the drone and use it as a flying bomb.

With his drone, Casper is a born camper.

Rao: The best anti-air unit in Battlefield 2042

If all the enemy helicopters in Battlefield 2042 are bugging you, you should play Rao and pack the FXM-33 FA missile. Use the cyber war suite to disable the defense systems of enemy helicopters and then shoot them out of the sky with the anti-aircraft missile system - enemy pilots won't have anything to counter this combo.

You can also use Rao's gadget to disable Boris' guns. Moreover, if you finish off a hacked unit, more enemies will be marked for you.

Paik: The Wallhacker

• You unlock Paik at level 25.

Specialist Paik can mark enemies behind walls or in buildings with her EMG-X scanner. She will also automatically show you the position of enemies who shoot at you.

If you want to take a point in a building, use the scanner to see if there are enemies inside. This way you'll always be one step ahead of your opponents.

Supply

Falck: The perfect medic

Even though there are no more classes in Battlefield 2042, Falck is the closest thing to the typical Battlefield medic. With the S21 squirt gun, you'll heal allies from a distance or even yourself if you hold down the Use button for longer. Also, besides Angel, Falck is the only specialist who can revive any teammate (with full health), even if they're not in their own squad.

So if the Medic was your favorite class in previous Battlefield parts, we recommend you to play Falck. If you also pack the medic kit, you'll be the ultimate medic in Battlefield 2042.

Specialist Falck is the closest thing to the classic Medic from Battlefield.

Angel: The Armor Angel

Angel can distribute ammo and armor to teammates. If you throw the armor pieces in front of you, you can also collect them yourself. In addition, he can still request an equipment box, where you and your team can change loadouts and get full ammo back for all equipment.

Also, like Falck, Angel can revive all team members. However, not with full health. Instead, specialists revived by Angel receive armor.
