Control playtime: This is how long the campaign is

Control features a linear single-player campaign in which you, as Jesse Faden, solve one of the many puzzles surrounding the Elder House. The campaign is the heart of the game and consists of ten missions. If you really only play this part and rarely or never fail, you'll be done with Control after a good 8 to 9 hours of gameplay.

If you take it a bit easier, try some of the boss fights several times and take a look at the one or other lore document, you can reach 13 to 15 hours of game play with the campaign alone.

This is how long side missions will keep you busy in Control

In addition to the story campaign, Control offers optional side quests that allow you to explore the Elder House more thoroughly. These missions are not mandatory to complete the game, but provide plenty of quirky entertainment and also reward you with useful items and abilities in some cases. If you include a few side quests in addition to the campaign, a run through the main Control game can take a good 20 to 25 hours. If you're the kind of game fan who really wants to read every document and explore every corner, then there's up to 35 hours of entertainment waiting for you in the Oldest House.

In our guide to side missions in Control, we'll give you an overview of all the optional tasks and tell you how to solve them.

Even more game time: This is how long the Control DLCs & the Control Ultimate Edition are

In addition to the main game, the Ultimate Edition of Control also includes the two DLCs The Foundation and AWE. Both add new quests, abilities and activities to the game, but are rather short compared to the main game:

  • You can play through The Foundation in 4 to 6 hours.
  • AWE adds a story to Control with a playing time of around 3 to 5 hours.

The total playing time of Control Ultimate Edition can thus be estimated at 40 to 50 hours - depending on how much time you allow yourself.

Endless fun: The "Endgame" from Control

At some point you will have completed all the activities and quests in Control, collected all the collectibles and read all the lore. For fans who can't get enough, however, the game offers a kind of endgame that is designed for endless repetition. It consists of the following activities:

  • At irregular intervals, the game randomly generates quests, which are displayed in the quest log for a limited time and typically require you to eliminate certain enemy types in certain areas. You will be rewarded with mods and materials. If a quest expires or you complete it, a new one will follow shortly after.
  • The Expeditions mode offers you game-like challenges of adjustable strength, in which you have to hold your own against several waves of enemies under time pressure. Here you can get particularly strong mods as a reward. You start expeditions by feeding tokens to the jukebox in the Central Management.
  • The AWE DLC has brought two arcade machines into the game, where you can also start endlessly repeatable challenges - such as a Horde mode that puts your skills to the test. In addition, the machines allow you to replay some boss fights and some particularly memorable levels if you feel like it.
