During the Manure Eater quest in Elden Ring, you will encounter one of the cruelest creatures in the interlands. In this guide we will show you how to get valuable equipment and weapons and unlock an alternate ending for Elden Ring.

How to start the quest for the Manure Eater in Elden Ring

For the Manure Eater to appear in the Tablet Round Fortress, you must have entered the Altus Plateau area. When you return to the tablet, Roderika will alert you to a presence if you improve your spirits with her (Guide). Afterwards, one of the back doors in the Round Table opens and the Manure Eater sits on the ground in spectral form. Talk to him and he introduces himself as a not too polite contemporary.

Manure Eater Quest: Find the Curse of the Seedbed

To really get the quest started, you'll need to find a Curse of the Seedbed and bring it to the Manure Eater. One of them is located in the Royal City of Leyndell. Fight your way to the place of mercy "Fortified Estate". You will reach the building via the giant stone dragon. From the place of mercy "Street Balcony" go down the stairs and through the gate. Beware of the knights!

Before the next gate, climb up over the dragon wing on the left and continue over the cracked stonework. Follow the steps until you reach the place of mercy "Western Capital Wall". From there, walk down the stairs to the southeast until you stand on a balcony. The building to the west is the "Fortified Estate".

From the inside, the estate resembles the round table fortress one to one. The Curse of the Seedbed lies by a corpse in the Manure Eater's room. Return to the Round Table Fortress with it and show it to him. He will give you the key to the sewer dungeon.

The curse of the seedbed is with this corpse. Take it to the Manure Eater.

Manure Eater Quest: Finding Access to the Underground Reserve of Shame

The Sewer Dungeon is located in a hidden area called the Underground Reserve of Shame. It is located directly under the Royal Capital of Leyndell. Go back down the stairs at the place of mercy "Street Balcony". After the gate, jump over the railing to the left onto one of the roofs and hop west off the roof onto the courtyard. In a dark corner to the north of the area is a dilapidated well. This is the entrance to the Reserve of Shame.

Free Manure Eater from the Sewer Dungeon

Open the grate gate and follow the catacombs to the area with the monstrous paintings and the place of mercy "Underground Road". Follow the corridor and drop down by the grates. You will land in the sewers and will have to deal with some rats. At the end of the corridor, run on to the left, where some poisonous giant plants await you. Then climb up the ladder.

Be careful: spider-like hands lurk here - three small hands hang from the ceiling, one huge hand is buried in the ground. Get the small ones down first with a ranged weapon and then take care of the big one. The spider hands are vulnerable to fire damage. In the dungeon behind you will meet the manure eater. Free him with the key to the sewer dungeon and return to the round table fortress after the conversation.

Fight with the Manure Eater and get Milos Sword

In the Round Table Fortress, you will find a message in the Manure Eater's room. Travel to the outer moat in Leyndell, to the place where you met the Black Guard (Guide) for the second time. Talk to him about the Manure Eater and he warns you that he suspects it is here somewhere. Rest at a place of mercy and return to the Black Guard again. After the conversation you will have a fight with the manure eater.

In the fight against the Manure Eater you can capture the Milos Sword.

During the invasion, you may scare up a giant crab from the waters, which will interfere in the fight. Defeating the manure eater will get you the Milos Sword. At the Black Guard camp, you'll receive a Seedbed Curse, the Black Guard Sound Pearl, the Iron Orb weapon, and the Black Guard Iron Mask.

To finish the Manure Eater quest and unlock an alternate ending

Return to the Round Table Fortress and talk to the Manure Eater in his room. He will ask you to desecrate him. To complete the quest, you must place five Curses of the Seedbed on the Dung Eater's corpse in the Sewer Dungeon. You can find them in the Open World at corpses desecrated by the Manure Eater. After that, you will receive the Cruel Curse healing rune, which you can use for an alternate ending to Elden Ring after the final boss fight.
