Pokémon GO Guide: All Pokémon attacks and their strengths

In our guide to all attacks in Pokémon GO we tell you:

  • Which instant attacks there are
  • Which charge attacks there are
  • How strong all attacks are in Pokémon GO

Every Pokémon has instant attacks and charging attacks. The latter must first be charged to unleash their power. Want to know the power of your favorite Pokémon's different attacks and how much damage they do per second? Then this guide is just the thing for you.

Which attacks a Pokémon learns from your Pokéball () is completely random. This also applies to the evolution: As soon as it reaches the next level, a set is compiled from all possible attacks for this pocket monster. However, it is also possible to teach a Pokémon special attacks using instant TMs and charge TMs. You may already know this system from the console games Pokémon Sword () and Pokémon Shield ().

In our guide to the best & strongest Pokémon 2019, you can see which pocket monster should definitely be in your team. With the help of our table, you can teach your Pokémon the strongest attacks and emerge victorious from the next battle.

Table of Contents:

Pokémon GO: All instant attacks & their strengths

When you battle against your friends or in Raids, you attack with your Pokémon's instant attack by default. Each attack fills your bar for the Charge Attack, which you'll read more about in the next section.

We've told you how to find and add friends in Pokémon GO elsewhere.

Pokémon GO: Status changes and full hits

If you've been a Pokémon fan for a long time, you probably know that a lot of Attacks havea secondary effect. For example, they cause sleep, poison the opponent's Pokémon, or paralyze it. If a Pokémon is paralyzed, it may not attack or make the mistake of hurting itself. This can often make a crucial difference in battle.

Currently, these side effects (or state changes) are not possible in Pokémon GO. All attacks merely drain damage from the opponent to empty the life bar and eventually defeat it. It is currently unclear whether the status effects will still be added. As soon as Niantic comments on this, we'll let you know.

The same goes for "direct hits", which come from all of Nintendo's well-known main games. With a bit of luck, an attack is a direct hit and causes significantly more damage. In Pokémon GO, this feature does not exist yet.
