Difference between parenchyma and collenchyma
Introduction

Parenchyma

Types of parenchyma

Colenchyma
Collenchyma is a plant tissue formed by cells that have thick cell walls and irregular thickenings. It is found in growing organs, such as young stems, and forms a layer that provides support to the plant. It can also be present in leaves and flowers and its function is to provide rigidity and support to the plant.
Differences between parenchyma and collenchyma
- Parenchyma cells have thin, poorly differentiated cell walls, while collenchyma cells have thick, irregularly thickened cell walls.
- Parenchyma is found in all plant organs, while collenchyma is found in growing organs.
- The parenchyma carries out metabolic processes, while the collenchyma provides support and rigidity to the plant.
