New World: Collect and use Azoth

You may have seen it already, but you need a material called Azoth for fast travel in New World, for example. In this guide you will learn:

  • What Azoth is
  • Where you can get it
  • What you do with it

It's hard to get started - but not in New World if you've read our beginner's guide with some useful tips.

What is Azoth?

The mysterious material is used as a kind of currency in New World. You need Azoth, for example, to use fast travel or to craft items.

The symbol for Azoth is a small blue vial in your inventory.

Kill level 20 or higher corruptors and collect the Azoth they drop.

Where do I get Azoth in New World?

To ensure that you always have enough Azoth, there are several ways to collect the material. It's best to start collecting it early in the game, since you won't need it at the beginning, but you will need it later on. The more you have, the better. Also, once you reach level 20, the number of Azoth you can obtain increases.

Complete quests in the main story

New World is full of missions that you can complete. Just follow the main story quests and you will be rewarded not only with gold, armor pieces and materials, but also Azoth.

Complete world events

You can get a whole chunk of Azoth by taking part in the big PvE events. You'll have to team up with other players and fight back the attackers at certain points on the map. However, there are two requirements: You must sign up for it a day in advance, and you'll also need suitably good armor and, ideally, level 50 or higher.

Kill Corrupted

If you have reached a higher level and you are confronted with corrupted people of level 20 or higher: Kill them! You will occasionally get Azoth from them. Also pay attention to the color of the corrupted. If they shimmer or glow blue, they drop even more of the coveted material.

Tool Bonus

If you're lucky, you'll even find a tool that gives you a bonus to finding Azoth. Once you use it, you have an increased chance of dropping some of the material for yourself.

Use Azoth when crafting armor and weapons. If you're lucky, you'll get additional attributes.

What do I do with Azoth?

As mentioned at the beginning, you need Azoth to be able to use fast travel. You will need 50 Azoth per trip. But you can do even more with it. Once you are level 10 or higher, you will no longer be able to reset your weapon skills for free. Instead, you'll have to pay 25 Azoth each time. So that's another reason to keep a little bit of it on hand.

Azoth is even more important if you want to craft items. The material can be used to upgrade your weapons. If you add an Azoth Vial to the appropriate slot when crafting, there's a chance that your weapon, armor, or tool will gain an additional attribute.
