Life is Strange 2 Episode 2: All Decisions Decoded

We show you in this guide to decisions in the second episode of Life is Strange 2,

  • what different choices exist
  • what consequences your actions have

After "Roads" comes "Rules" - thanks to the second episode of Life is Strange 2, you'll dive even deeper into the story surrounding the escape of Sean and Daniel Diaz. We'll explain here which important decisions you make and when, and how they influence the course of the story. If you want to look back at all the decisions of the first episode, you'll also find exactly the right information here.

Episode 2: All important decisions

The Snowball

Right at the beginning, you can perform different actions with Sean that revolve around a snowball. In total, there are four different possible actions: Throw Reasonably, Throw at Daniel, Throw at Truffle, or Throw at Daniel and Truffle.

  • ThrowReasonably: The first time he throws, Sean doesn't catch the snowball. The second time, he stops it in mid-air.
  • Throwingat Daniel: Daniel catches his brother with a direct hit, who then yells at him. If you subsequently throw Daniel again, he uses his powers to throw the snowball directly into Sean's face.
  • Throw at Truffle: Daniel stops the snowball using his powers and is angry at Sean. The little dog runs away, frightened.
  • Throwingat Daniel and Truffle: This decision will result in the combined consequences of "throwing at Daniel" and "throwing at Truffle."

Your decisions also affect the relationship between Sean and Daniel in the second episode.

The Cougar

In this situation, there are two POSSIBLE courses of action in Life is Strange 2. Either Sean intervenes or holds back. Your behavior will have a big impact on how Daniel deals with this experience.

  • Intervene: Sean scares away the puma. However, the brothers can't bury Truffle's body, nonetheless they prepare a grave for her.
  • Not intervening: Daniel breaks the cougar's neck by using his powers and is frightened by himself. However, the siblings have the option of burying the body of the dead dog in this decision.

The prayer

Your behavior at Truffle's grave will later influence how Sean behaves towards his grandmother Claire. There are four different directions in which the situation can develop: Everyone prays, Daniel and Claire pray, Claire prays alone, and no one prays.

Claire Reynolds - as you know her from The Fantastic Adventures of Captain Spirit.

  • Everyone prays: At Truffle's grave, tell Daniel that heaven exists and take Claire up on her offer.
  • Daniel and Claire pray: Tells Daniel at Truffle's grave that Heaven is real, but declines Claire's invitation to pray.
  • Claire prays alone: Asserts to Daniel at Truffle's gravesite that Heaven is not real. Then apologize to Claire after telling Daniel about this situation.
  • No one prays: Act the same at Truffle's grave as before, after Daniel's account of these events expresses to Claire that the brothers never pray. The grandmother of the two then becomes angry and leaves.

Telling Stephen about Daniel's powers

In the second episode, you will meet not only grandmother Claire, but also grandfather Stephen Reynolds. He quickly finds out about Daniel's supernatural gift, which is why you have to make a decision. Do you tell him the truth or lie to him?

Lyla and Sean in the first episode

  • Tell Stephen the truth: Sean tells Stephen about Daniel's powers. He also asks his grandfather not to tell Claire about it.
  • Lie to Stephen: Pretend to be ignorant. Stephen will then ask Sean not to tell Claire.

Phone call with Lyla

Sean can seek contact with his best friend Lyla in episode 1, with whom he actually wants to go to a party at the beginning of Life is Strange 2. Whether or not you call her will partly determine how this situation plays out. Basically, though, the adventure offers you the choice of calling Lyla or not calling her.

Call Lyla

If you called her in the first episode, she answers. Lyla tells you that she lied to the police about the previous conversation. She relies on sleeping pills to deal with this stress.

If you didn't call her at the motel, Lyla's mother answers the phone. She informs Sean that her daughter is in a clinic for severe depression.

Do not call Lyla

It doesn't matter how you acted in the first episode of Life is Strange 2. If you don't want to talk to Lyla in this situation, Sean has no idea how his best friend is doing. He also doesn't know that she is currently living in a clinic.

Stephen's laptop

By and large, only two possibilities exist here as well: Either Sean uses Stephen's laptop or he doesn't touch the device. If you choose the latter way, he doesn't get to hear about the latest news, Brody, Lyla, or public reactions to his person.

If you visit Brody's blog, you'll read various posts. Older posts - as a reference to the first episode - are about naked people who want to lead normal lives. In addition, Sean finds a text in which he and his brother appear anonymously.

Reading news, you'll discover several articles about the Seattle incident. In addition, conspiracy theories spin around the two brothers. Sean, by the way, can use Stephen's laptop to log into his account on a social network.

Chris Eriksen together with his father Charles

What Lyla's profile looks like depends on your previous actions. If you call her in the first episode, you'll find a bunch of posts about Daniel and Sean there. If you don't contact her, she will defend the brothers against hateful comments on Sean's profile. If you don't call Lyla in episode 2, Sean worries about her because of many get-well wishes on her profile.

If Sean uses his social media account, he attracts the attention of the police. The officers track down the siblings, as corresponding activities were reported from his grandparents' house.

The relationship of trust with Chris

As you already know from The Fantastic Adventures of Captain Spirit, there is a difficult relationship between Chris and his father Charles Eriksen. These decision options revolve around gaining the boy's trust and talking to him about his father - or not. The adventure game offers you the choice between these actions in this situation:

Win the trust & talk about Charles

First, make sure you assign Chris' action figures to the right group (villains or heroes). By the way, by solving the task you'll secure one of the optional collectibles in the second episode. If Charles comes up, you ask Chris about problems with him.

Chris will open up and tell Sean that his father tends to be aggressive when drunk. Later, this will give you the opportunity to bring up this matter in conversation with Charles Eriksen. If you respond to his difficulties, he will think about taking Chris to his grandparents.

Gain their trust, but do not talk about Charles

Assign the toy to the right faction, but don't follow up if the conversation is about Charles. This way, you can't bring up Chris' father's drinking problem later in the second episode. Charles then tells Sean about his self-doubt in his role as a father.

Daniel's behavior towards Chris

Sean's little brother lies to his new friend Chris Eriksen. How you deal with this is up to you. Either ask him to stop or keep Daniel's secret.

  • Stop Daniel's lie: Depending on how the brothers' relationship has developed so far, this triggers different actions. Daniel tells Chris the truth or ignores Sean's request. If the latter happens, the police car hits Chris and Daniel blames himself.
  • Keep Daniel's secret: Chris believes he has supernatural powers and stops the police car. If he gets hit in the process, Daniel blames Sean.

Cassidy plays guitar in the second episode.

Cassidy & her song

Currently, it is difficult to assess the importance of this decision to the fullest extent. We suspect that Sean might fall in love with Cassidy in an upcoming episode of Life is Strange 2. In "Rules," listen to her song in full at the tree plantation or turn away before it ends.

  • Listen to the full song: Cassidy asks Daniel if he has a crush on her after the song ends. By the way, this is also how you collect one of the collectibles from Episode 2.
  • Go before the end: Cassidy and Sean don't talk about the possibility that Sean is interested in her.

The Christmas Gift

Your behavior in this situation primarily affects Daniel's morality. Whether you buy a gift for him, steal it, or find multiple gifts will shape Sean's little brother.

  • Buys a gift: Sean gives Daniel a handmade gift.
  • Steal a gift: Daniel is very happy about the yo-yo. However, just like when you steal from the gas station store in the first episode, this rubs off negatively on him.
  • Get several gifts: Daniel is completely satisfied with his gifts.

Daniel uses his powers - how exactly, that you determine with your decisions.

Stephen in trouble

The use of Daniel's powers leads to different outcomes here. However, weigh up beforehand whether you want to encourage him to use his gift more. Basically, there are these two courses of action:

  • Allow Daniel to use his powers: Stephen gets away without injury. Daniel draws from this experience the realization that it is good to use his supernatural abilities.
  • Prohibits Daniel from using his powers: The grandfather sustains a leg injury. Daniel learns that it is better not to use his gift.

Chris & the police car

Here your decision on the point "Daniel's behavior towards Chris" plays a big role. Depending on this, the finale of episode 2 will be tragic or less shocking.

The police car hits Chris

The accident happens when Daniel does not tell his friend the truth. For this reason, the boy believes he has supernatural powers and gets in the way of the police car. If you don't encourage Sean's brother to use his abilities, the situation will play out this way. Daniel holds himself responsible for the accident.

If you keep the secret about his gift under wraps, Chris will also try to stop the police car with "his" powers. If you don't stop Daniel from using his powers in the second episode, he blames Sean for Chris' accident.

The police car does not catch Chris

This situation arises when Daniel lies to Chris or Daniel protects the secret about his abilities. In order for him to save Chris (with the help of his gift), you will have to encourage him to use his powers during the second episode.

Chris helps Sean & Daniel escape

When Daniel confesses to his newfound friend that he is fibbing to him, you will meet him running away from the police. Chris hands Daniel his cape and shows the brothers a safe way out of the dicey situation.
