This is what the Battle Pass contains

Battlefield 2042 now also has a Battle Pass. The 100 ranks offer various rewards such as weapons, vehicles and cosmetic objects. Battle Pass points are earned by completing weekly missions and earning XP in matches.

As with other games, Battle Pass differentiates between "Free" and "Premium" . The free variant offers 30 rewards. On the other hand, those who buy the Battle Pass for around 9 Euros or own the Gold or Ultimate Edition can look forward to 70 more rewards, including the legendary "All-Seeing Eye" skin and the Fishing Specialist set.

The mountain offers many good positions, especially for snipers

All innovations of Season 1 in Battlefield 2042

In addition to the Battle Pass, there are several other new features in the game:

New map: Contact

Contact" takes you to the Canadian Rockies. There, a huge landslide exposed a secret American facility, which now needs to be conquered. The map is once again designed for 128 players and is very vertical.

Some objective points are located on the mountain, others at the foot of the cliffs. In addition, various tunnel systems lead into the heart of the rubble and directly into the aforementioned military facility. There, battles await you in winding corridors and confined spaces. Vehicles are useless here.

Outside, not only the enemy snipers will make your life difficult, but also various bombardments from the air. Especially the new helicopters can be very dangerous for your squad. Only anti-air equipment can help against this.

In "Contact" you'll also have to go vertical

New specialist: Ewelina Lis

A new specialist has also been added for Season 1. Born in Gdansk, Ewelina Lis is an anti-vehicle expert with the elite Polish special forces unit GROM and brings with her an impressive arsenal of weapons.

Equipped with the G-84 TGM, you can fire guided projectiles at enemy vehicles. You control the missile yourself over a certain period of time and maneuver it to your target. Especially at various hotspots, where enemy helicopters are present, the special armament can be decisive for the game. Because deflectors don't help against it.

Her second special ability should not be underestimated either. As a tank hunter, Liz automatically locates enemy vehicles within a certain radius. This allows her to quickly spot and take out enemy artillery.

New vehicles and weapons

Two new helicopters can be summoned in Battlefield 2042. The RAH-68 Huron and the YG-99 Hannibal are stealth helicopters, which makes them impervious to targeting with automatic guided missiles - but only for a short period of time. As for armament, you have various missiles on board in addition to a machine gun.

For the infantry, there is the Ghostmaker R10 crossbow, which can be equipped with high explosives, and the BSV-M sniper rifle. The latter is a mixture of assault and precision rifle with single shot and continuous fire modes.

You'll also get a new gadget, the smoke grenade launcher. As the name suggests, you'll fire a multiple charge of smoke bombs that will cover the hit area. Ideal for a quick advance or to rob enemy tanks of visibility.

The new helicopters have a cloaking device

What is developer DICE planning for the future?

Although some changes were made in Battlefield 2042 with Season 1, the multiplayer shooter still has some construction sites. With the last big patch, some bugs were fixed again, but the games still don't run one hundred percent smoothly.

Among other things, the "victory chants" of the specialists at the end of a game have been removed. At least for now, because DICE plans to replace these "loose sentences" with more serious offshoots. And yes, the specialists will remain. The developer is still sticking to the concept, even if it weakens team play and reminds some battlefields of the Clone Wars.

This is especially noticeable in some flag points, which become impregnable positions and thus the central focal point for the entire battle turmoil. DICE has already improved some maps, but in the future the maps will get major revisions. In "Kaleidoscope", for example, more objects will be placed for cover and the infantrymen will be offered more protection from the air, as well as the zones will be expanded and moved.

Lastly, the player count has been tweaked. The "Breakthrough" mode is now only available with 64 players instead of 128. However, this is not planned for "Conquest". That makes sense, because the maps are simply too big for that.
