Assassin''s Creed Odyssey: Find the Trident of Poseidon

Our guide to the Trident of Poseidon in Assassin's Creed Odyssey explains:

  • Where to find the trident
  • How to use it to breathe underwater

In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the Assassin series gets an even more mystical touch than it had in the past. On the one hand, this means that you'll have to answer the questions of a sphinx, for example. On the other hand, some items, like the trident of Poseidon, also give you special abilities like breathing underwater.

Where can I find the Trident of Poseidon in Assassin's Creed Odyssey?

Bad news first: to collect the Poseidon's trident, you need to be further along in the game. To do so, go to the small island north of Samos, where a huge statue of Poseidon is enthroned.

For the islands in the eastern part of the Assassin's Creed Odyssey map, however, you should already be in the haze of level 40. Otherwise, the ships on the way will take you apart pretty quickly, as will animals and other enemies in this area.

It's also a good idea to start your way to the island after a detour to Olympia. There you'll meet the stonemason Pheidias again, for whom you'll also have to sail to the statue of Poseidon in the mission "Art guides life". This way you kill two birds with one stone.

The small island north of Samos is your destination.

The trident of Poseidon is in the gilded chest.

But you don't have to steal Poseidon's trident from the oversized statue. Instead, kill the three lions who have turned the opposite temple of Poseidon into their living room.

Once you have put the cats to sleep - and maybe even tamed one of them and made it your fluffy companion - go to the large, nicely decorated chest in the center of the temple. Here you will then receive the Trident of Poseidon in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

How can I breathe underwater with the trident?

Even if you don't like fighting with spears, you shouldn't put the Trident of Poseidon directly into the Adrasteia storage box. The weapon offers you an extremely useful perk: it lets you breathe when you're on a diving station.

To take advantage of this feature, you must have the trident equipped - whether it's in the primary or secondary weapon slot doesn't matter. So it's better to keep the spear in your inventory - that way you'll only have to switch weapons briefly before diving to the next shipwreck or sunken temple in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
